    WBJEE Eligibility 2023 differs according to the course that the students opt for. However, the minimum mark required to be eligible for WBJEE 2023 is 45% in Class 12th or equivalent qualification examination. Failing to fulfil the required eligibility will raise the chances of cancellation of your candidature at any stage of WBJEE 2023 admission process.

    WBJEE Eligibility 2023: Age Limit

    According to WBJEE Eligibility 2023, a candidate must be born on or before December 31, 2005 to be eligible for all the courses offered through WBJEE 2023.

    • The lower age limit is 17 years as on December 31, 2022.
    • There is no upper age limit to apply for WBJEE 2023.
    • But for admission to Marine Engineering course, the upper age limit is 25 years.

    WBJEE Academic Requirements

    According to WBJEE Eligibility 2023, candidates must have passed Class 12th with minimum 45% marks or equivalent qualification examination. However, a student appearing for Class 12th examination in 2021 can also appear for WJEE 2023. In such cases, the student will be eligible for seat allotment only if he/ she passes the qualifying examination with the minimum required WBJEE Eligibility 2023.

    WBJEE Eligibility 2023 for Engineering Courses

    • Compulsory courses required in Class 12th ​: Physics and Mathematics along with one of Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Computer Science/ Biotechnology/ Technical Vocational Subject
    • Minimum Marks: 45% marks in the above three subjects taken together. Candidates must note that in the case of candidates belonging to reserved category e.g. SC/ ST/ OA-A/ OBC-B/ PwD, the minimum marks required is 40%.
    • Candidates must have passed English with at least 30% marks.
    • Board of Qualifying Examination: Any board recognized by the Central or State Government concerned.

    WBJEE Eligibility 2023 for Pharmacy Courses

    • Compulsory courses required in Class 12th ​: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/ Biology
    • Minimum Marks: 45% marks in the above three subjects taken together. Candidates must note that in case of candidates belonging to reserved category e.g. SC/ ST/ OA-A/ OBC-B/ PwD, minimum marks required in 40%.
    • Candidates must have passed English with at least 30% marks.
    • Board of Qualifying Examination: Any board recognized by Central or State Government concerned. However, candidates with non-formal, irregular class mode, non-classroom based schooling, open school learning or distance education will not be eligible for admission to B.Pharm courses through WBJEE 2023.

    WBJEE Domicile/Residential Requirement

    WBJEE Eligibility 2023: Domicile/Residential Requirement 

    According to WBJEE Eligibility 2023, candidates must be a citizen of India. Candidates from any state are eligible to apply. The domicile certificate will be applicable only for admission in government participating institutes and to claim WBJEE Reservation 

    • There is no particular residential/domicile requirement to appear in WBJEE 2023.
    • The state domicile requirement is applicable for any seat under Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW).  
    • The candidate is treated as the domicile of West Bengal who is either:
      • Residing in West Bengal for the last 10 years by December 12, 2021, or
      • Whose parent(s) is/are resident(s) and have a permanent address within the State of West Bengal.

      • Minimum Marks: 60% marks (55% marks for ST, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PwD) in the above three subjects

      • Candidates must have passed English with at least 30% marks.

    The course-wise specific special WBJEE eligibility criteria 2023 is for two major courses- marine engineering and 5-year architecture degree. The section below covers the details for course-wise eligibility criteria:

    Degree in Marine Engineering

    The following requirements are applicable to the Marine Engineering Course in any of WBJEE participating institutions:

    • Minimum Qualification: Pass Class 12th or equivalent examination from a recognized Council/Board
    • Compulsory Subjects: Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry 
    • Minimum Marks: 60% in PCM with individual pass marks in all three subjects
    • Minimum of 50% marks in English as a subject in either in Class 10th or Class 12th 

    5-Year Degree Course in Architecture

    The following requirements are applicable for the 5-year degree course in Architecture in any of WBJEE participating institutions except the Jadavpur University.

    • As per the norms and standards of the Council of Architecture (COA): No candidate with less than 50% marks in aggregate shall be admitted to the B.Arch course unless they have passed an examination at the end of new ‘10+2’ scheme of Senior School Certificate Examination or equivalent with Mathematics as a subject of examination at the 10+2 level.
    • Candidate must also qualify either in the NATA conducted by the COA or in JEE Main Paper 2.

    Ques. I am 16 years old. Am I eligible to appear in WBJEE 2023?

    Ans. No, the minimum age required to appear for WBJEE 2023 is 17 years as of December 31, 2022. There is no upper age limit. However, for the Marine Engineering Course, the upper age limit is 25 years as on December 31, 2022.

    Ques. I have been residing in West Bengal for the last 7 years. Am I eligible for the state reservation as per WBJEE Eligibility 2023?

    Ans. No, a candidate must be a resident for 10 years or his/her parents must have a permanent residence in West Bengal in order to get WBJEE state reservation. 

    Ques. I am from Delhi. Am I eligible to apply for WBJEE 2023?

    Ans. Yes, you can apply for WBJEE 2023, but you will not be able to get the state reservation. You will be treated as a general category student as per WBJEE Eligibility 2023.

    Ques. I have completed class 12th with 59% aggregate in PCM. Am I eligible for WBJEE admission in Marine Engineering course?

    Ans. No, the minimum marks required for admission in Marine Engineering course through WBJEE 2023 is 60% (in PCM) in class 12th but for admission in other engineering courses, the minimum marks required is 45% for general category and 40% for reserved category candidates. So you can apply for other engineering courses. 

    Ques. Do I need to have English as a subject in Class 12th for admission in pharmacy courses through WBJEE 2023?

    Ans. Yes. It is compulsory to pass English with at least 30% marks in 10+2 in order to get admission into WBJEE pharmacy courses.

    Ans. For admissions to Jadavpur University through WBJEE 2023, applicants need to fulfil the following admission requirements according to their desired course:

    Ans. As per the norms and standards of the Council of Architecture (COA) candidates will need to score minimum 50% marks in aggregate in Class 12th with Mathematics as a compulsory subject. Apart from this, a candidate must also qualify either NATA or in JEE Main Paper 2 exam.

    Ques. Can I get a tuition fee waiver at WBJEE participating colleges if I am not a resident of West Bengal?

    Ans. No. State domicile of West Bengal is a mandatory requirement for tuition fee waivers in WBJEE participating colleges.

    Ques. What are the minimum marks required in Class 12th for admission to the University of Calcutta through WBJEE 2023 for reserved category candidates?

    Ans. Reserved category candidates (ST, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PwD candidates) have to get at least 55% marks (40% for jute and fibre technology course) in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics and at least 30% marks in English in Class 12th exam in order to get admission into the University of Calcutta through WBJEE 2023.

    Ques. If I get admission into a college through my WBJEE result 2023 but fail to pass a subject Cass 12 subject before admissions, will my seat be cancelled?

    Ans. Yes. If you do not fulfill all the required criteria during admissions, which includes clearing Class 12th exams as prescribed, you will not be eligible for a seat in WBJEE 2023 participating institutes.
