JEE Main 2020 – Sept 6 (Morning Shift) Paper Analysis for B.E/B.Tech

JEE Main September 6 morning session for BE/B.Tech was conducted successfully from 9:00 AM to 12: PM. Heres what test-takers said about the level of Paper-

• Questions from Optics, Modern Physics, Electrostatics and Magnetism, EMI and thermodynamics were asked in physics.
• Numerical Questions in Physics were mostly asked from class 11^th syllabus while theoretical portion was mainly from class 12^th.
• Mathematics section was moderate to difficult following the earlier trend. Questions were lengthy and that made the paper a bit tougher.
• Questions from Calculus, Trignometry, Algebra and Geometry had more weightage. Conic section and 3-D had toughest questions.
• Chemistry was again easiest of all the sections but had some tricky questions. NCERT based direct questions were asked. 
• Questions from Chemical bonding, Co-ordination compound, were asked majorly. Inorganic chemistry had most weightage.
• An attempt of 38-42 questions will be considered safe score.

JEE Main Paper Analysis 2020 – Sept 6 (Afternoon Shift) for B.E/B.Tech

• Chemistry was easy just like all the previous sessions but organic chemistry was a little tough for most of the students. Questions from Physical chemistry were easy to moderate, Inorganic chemistry was easy.
• Inorganic chemistry consisted of questions from Elements, Acid and Bases. In Physical Chemistry, questions from Enthalpy, thermodynamics, Mole concepts were asked. 
• Physics was considered to be tougher than maths and chemistry comparatively. Questions were conceptual and application-based just like the previous sessions. Numerical questions from mechanics were asked. No direct questions were asked.
• Mathematics section was time-consuming therefore candidates believed it to be moderate to difficult level., No questions from integral calculus and circles were asked. Other sections of mathematics included questions from Vectors, Conic sections, Differential calculus, Algebra, etc.
•  An attempt of 40-42 questions in overall paper will be considered safe score.

JEE Main Paper Analysis 2020 – Sept 5 (Morning Shift) for B.E/B.Tech

B.E/B.Tech paper for morning shift of JEE Main September session Day 5 was conducted successfully from from 9:00 AM to 12: PM.

• Continuing with the trend for the current session so far, Physics came across as the toughest section to the candidates.
• Most of the questions in Physics were application based and time consuming.
• Numericals in the Physics questions were mostly from the syllabus of class 11^th. Whereas, the theory based questions were from the syllabus of class 12^th. 
• Some questions in Mathematics were from the topics – Vectors, 3-D, Complex numbers, Integration, Calculus, Coordinate Geometry.
• As per the experts 36-40 questions with 90 percent accuracy can be counted as a good attempt.

JEE Main Paper Analysis 2020 – Sept 5 (Afternoon Shift) for B.E/B.Tech

JEE Main afternoon shift on September 5, 2020 was conducted as per schedule between 3.00 PM to 6.00 PM. Paper Analysis for the same is as follows:

• Many candidates pointed out that questions specially from Chemistry and Maths were similar to NTA Abhyas app mock test questions, in terms of pattern and difficulty level.
• Chemistry section had more questions from Inorganice chemistry than Organic.
• As per experts, attempting 15-16 questions in Chemistry with 95% accuracy can be counted as a good attempt for the section.
• Physics questions were found to be difficult and mostly calculative, electrostatics was given weightage. 
• Mathematics was scaled as easy to moderate as per difficulty level. 

JEE Main Paper Analysis 2020 – Sept 4 (Morning Shift) for B.E/B.Tech

JEE Main B.E/B.Tech paper was conducted successfully from 9.00 AM to 12.00 Noon, paper analysis for the same is as follows:

• As per the intial reaction of the test takers, mathematics was easy to moderate, physics was moderate and chemistry was easy in terms of difficulty level.
• Some candidates also observed that a lot of questions were quite similar to the mock tests of NTA Abhyas App.
• Molecular orbital theory was an important topic for the chemistry section.
• Some topics from which questions were asked in Mathematics were calculus, measurements and 3-D geometry.
• As per the experts, overall 35-45 questions with around 90% accuracy can be considered a good attempt for the paper. 

JEE Main Paper Analysis 2020 – Sept 4 (Afternoon Shift) for B.E/B.Tech

Day 4 of JEE Main September session papers concluded successfully with the afternoon shift of B.E/B.Tech paper, the exam analysis as per the test takers is as follows:

• Most of the candidates found mathematics easy surprisingly, length of the section of however was a concern for the candidates.
• Chemistry overall was scaled easy in terms of difficulty level, specially questions from organic chemistry were found to be easy by candidates.
• Organic chemistry contributed around 6-7 questions to the chemistry section. 
• There were a few tricky questions from chemistry in everyday life. 
• Candidates who had also appeared for the January 2020 section found the paper much easier comparatively.

JEE Main Paper Analysis 2020 – Sept 3 (Morning Shift) for B.E/B.Tech

B.E/B.Tech paper for morning shift of JEE Main september session Day 2 was conducted successfully from 9.00 AM to 12.00 Noon. 

• The paper was overall of a moderate difficulty level as per the initial reactions of the test takers.
• Numerical answer value based questions were particularly found to be lengthy.
• Physics was scaled as moderate in terms of difficulty level, and chemistry the easiest of the 3 sections. 

JEE Main Paper Analysis 2020 – Sept 3 (Afternoon Shift) for B.E/B.Tech

B.E/B.Tech Paper for the afternoon Shift was held successfully from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. This is how the exam was according to the examinees.

• Mathematics Paper was lengthy and tricky just like the previous sessions. Questions from calculus had more weightage.
• Vectors, 3-D Geometry, Complex numbers, Conic Sections questions were also asked.   
• Chemistry was again easiest of all sections. Direct questions from NCERT were asked.
• Around 7 questions from organic chemistry were asked. Integer type questions were a little tough and lengthy. Physical Chemistry was easy.
• Overall Paper was moderate level, and easier in comparison to January session. 

JEE Main Exam Analysis 2020 – Sept 2 (Morning Shift) for B.E/B.Tech

Morning shift on September 2 concluded between 9.00 AM to 12.00 Noon. B.E/ B. Tech paper is divided into three sections i.e. Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. 

• The paper was overall of a moderate to difficult in terms of level of difficulty.
• Physics was found to be the toughest section by the test takers.
• Direct questions from NCERT were also spotted by candidates.
• Mathematics was found to be of a moderate level but time consuming.
• Some candidates pointed out that more weightage was given to class 12^th syllabus.
• Mathmatics section questions were observed to be well spread out among all the topics.
• Chemistry was the easiest of the three sections. However some of the questions from the section were found to be tricky.
• JEE Main Paper Analysis 2020 – Sept 2 (Afternoon Shift) for B.E/B.Tech

JEE Main Afternoon shift for B.E/B.Tech paper was conducted from 3.00 PM to 6.00 PM. Here is an analysis based on the reaction of the test takers:

• The difficulty level of the paper was almost similar to the January session.
• A couple of questions in maths were from the topic Vectors, five questions from Coordinate geometry and 4 questions from Algebra.
• Chemistry was found to be easy with direct questions from NCERT. Questions from Bio-molecule test were asked from Organic Chemistry.
• Chemistry consisted of 12 questions from class 11^th and 13 questions from class 12^th syllabus. 8 questions were asked from Organic, 9 from inorganic, and 8 from physical chemistry.
• The paper was time consuming. A lot of candidates complained about not being able to attempt the number of questions as they per their plan. 
• Physics section was scaled moderate in terms of difficulty level by the candidates.
• In Physics around 11 questions were asked from Class 11^th and 14 questions from Class 12^th Syllabus. Five questions were asked from Mechanics and four from thermodynamics and three from Optics.

JEE Main Exam Analysis 2020 – Sept 1(Morning Shift) for B. Arch

The morning shift for JEE Main B. Arch Paper has been successfully concluded, it was held from 9.00 AM to 12.00 Noon. Students have informed that the COVID-19 safety measures were followed well. As per the initial reaction of the test takers the paper was of a moderate difficulty level.

• As for the drawing section, one question involved one of Highway scene or Potrait of your favourite teacher and the other question involved drawing an aesthetic composition using rectangles.
• Numerical value answer based questions were found to be lengthy as compared to JEE Main B. Arch paper in the January session.

JEE Main 2020 Exam Analysis- January 9 (Morning Shift) 

January 9, 2020 was the last day for JEE Main 2020 January session, morning shift B.E/ B. Tech paper was successfully conducted between 9.30 AM to 12.30 PM.

• Mathematics as per candidates was easy in terms of difficulty level but it was time consuming and thus attempting the desired number of questions over all in paper was challenging.
• There were 4-5 questions in Mathematics from Calculus.
• Most asked topics in Physics were Thermodynamics, modern physics, resistance and fluids. 
• Chemistry had questions from Coordination compounds. There were about 6-8 questions from inorganic chemistry with a majority of questions from organic chemistry.

JEE Main Exam Analysis 2020 January Session- January 9 (Afternoon Shift)

B.E/ B.Tech paper on January 9, 2020 afternoon session was the last paper of January 2020 session. Afternoon paper was similar to the same day morning shift paper in terms of level of difficulty with physics being the toughest section.

• Mathematics was easy to moderate in terms of difficulty level with high weightage given to class XII syllabus.
• Physics was the most difficult section, and as per test takers more weightage was given to class XI syllabus in the physics section.
• Most asked questions in mathematics were Vector, 3D, Probability, AP etc. Centre of mass and moment of inertia are some of the topics asked in Physics. 

JEE Main Paper Analysis 2020 January Session- January 8 (Morning Shift)

B.E/ B.Tech paper on January 8, 2020 was conducted as per schedule, despite of the Bharat Bandh strike. Candidates were advised to start early for the exam centers as finding transportation could have been an issue in the morning. Question paper was seen as of moderate difficulty level with mathematics being the most time consuming section.

• Numerical value based questions for mathematics were found easy by the candidates, however most of the candidates suggest that test takers should save 90 minutes for the maths section as attempting the desired number of questions can be challenging.
• Chemistry section which is generally found easy in terms of difficulty level was surprisingly tough this time. Candidates weren’t expecting a lot of questions from inorganic chemistry, but there was a fair amount from the same. 
• A specific question from chemistry was from environmental chemistry regarding greenhouse gases. There were 2-3 questions from ionization enthalpy.
• Mathematics had questions from Matrix and Determinants, Vector and 3D, Arithmetic Progression, Parabola, Calculus, Conic sections etc.

JEE Main Exam Analysis 2020 January Session- January 8 (Afternoon Shift)

JEE Main afternoon shift on January 8, 2020 was conducted as per schedule between 2.30 PM to 5.30 PM. Paper Analysis for the same is as follows:

• Physics was seen as the toughest section by a majority of the test takers, with more of conceptual questions.
• Candidates complained about not being able to solve the desired number of questions in mathematics. The section was of a moderate difficulty level but very time-consuming.
• Candidates pointed out that class XI course was given more importance in mathematics. 
• Physics section had a lot of questions from electromagnetism. Chemistry section was dominated by organic chemistry questions. 

JEE Main Exam Analysis 2020 January Session- January 7 (Morning Shift) 

JEE Main 2020 January Session commenced on January 6, 2020. B.E/B. Tech papers are scheduled for January 7-9, 2020. Morning shift on January 7 concluded between 9.30 PM to 12.30 PM. B.E/ B. Tech paper is divided into three sections i.e. Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. 

• Chemistry was observed as the easiest section out of all 3 sections. Some candidates found maths and others found physics to be the toughest.
• Paper was seen as easier than last year’s JEE Main Question Papers.
• Numerical value based questions were of a moderate difficulty level.

JEE Main Exam Analysis 2020 January Session- January 7 (Afternoon Shift) 

The timings for the afternoon shift were 2.30 PM to 5.30 PM. B.E/ B. Tech paper was again described as easier when compared with the previous year JEE Main Question Papers. 

• Physics was described as the toughest section conceptually. Mathematics was also high in terms of difficulty level and time-consuming at the same time, since most of the questions were from NCERT in chemistry, it was scaled easy in terms of difficulty level by the candidates.
• There were a couple of questions from Newton’s law of cooling. 

JEE Main Paper Analysis 2020 January Session- January 6 (Morning Shift) 

The morning shift of JEE Main 2020 January session successfully commenced on January 6, 2020. 1,38,409 candidates have registered for B. Arch paper and 59,003 have registered for B. Planning paper. B.Arch and B. Planning papers are being conducted in two shifts on January 6, 2020. As per the initial reactions of the candidates, mathematics section was found to be the toughest. JEE Main B. Arch Paper Mathematics

Candidates found the mathematics section to be high in terms of difficulty level. Questions were asked from both, maths syllabus of XI and XII. However, as per a lot of test takers, there was more weightage to class XI syllabus in mathematics. Most asked topics were 3D coordinate geometry, distance, etc. There were fewer questions from integration and differentiation. 

JEE Main B. Arch Paper Drawing

Candidates had to answer 2 questions in the drawing section. The second question had 3 choices out of which, one had to be attempted by the candidate. Questions were based on topics like cylinder, school playground, gymnast, grandparents' face etc. Overall the drawing section was found to be difficult by most of the test takers.

JEE Main B. Arch Aptitude

In comparison to the mathematics and drawing sections, aptitude section was found to be comparatively easier by the test takers. Mirror image, 3D figures were some of the asked topics. Some specific questions from the Aptitude section were regarding the location of the Konark temple, correct size of a door, texture of a mirror etc.

JEE Main Exam Analysis 2020 January Session- January 6 (Afternoon Shift) 

JEE Main afternoon shift is scheduled between 2.30 PM to 5.30 PM. For candidates taking both B. Arch and B. Planning, the exam will end at 6.00 PM. As expected, candidates found the mathematics section to be the toughest. Planning section was introduced for the first time and a majority of candidates found it easy.

JEE Main 2019 Paper I Analysis

A total of 9,58,619 students had registered for JEE Main 2019. However, more than 15% students dropped out from Paper 2. A total of 42,968 students availed the EWS reservation. All sections were conducted in online computer-based mode.

JEE Main 2019 Paper Analysis (April 12 – Morning Shift)

• The difficulty level for the morning shift was considered moderate.
• Physics retained the tag of being the toughest among all the sections, most of the questions as expected were formula based.
• A considerable number of questions in the mathematics section were from Calculus, the section was observed as lengthy by test takers

Note: There was no exam on April 11 due to general elections in 20 states.

JEE Main 2019 Paper Analysis (April 10 – Morning Shift)

• Physics was once again the toughest paper, rotational mechanics and dynamics were one of the few highlighted topics in JEE Main Question Paper.
• Mathematics paper was of moderate difficulty level, compromising of most of the questions were from integration and circles. 
• Following the previous year trends, chemistry was again observed as the easiest out of the 3 sections. 
• Experts have predicted the cut off for common rank list to be between 70 – 75.

• This slot paper was easier than the paper sets of previous slots.
• Mathematics paper was comparatively softer to the students.
• While Physics challenged their aptitude by various application-based questions.
• Chemistry was easy, However, overall exam was lengthy.

JEE Main 2019 Paper Analysis (April 9 – Evening Shift)

• Following the exam trend, experts say that students should start the paper with Chemistry section to manage the time well.
• At the same time, Physics had a high complexity level with many application-based questions.   

JEE Main 2019 Paper Analysis (April 8 – Morning Shift)

• In shift 2, Mathematics surpassed the difficulty level of Physics paper.
• Physics was moderate but a time-consuming paper, magnetics was an important topic in the paper.
• Chemistry section was again the easiest section with direct questions from the book.

JEE Main 2019 Paper II Analysis

JEE Main Paper 2 was conducted on April 7, 2019 in two shifts. A total of 1,80,052 candidates registered for the paper.

• Mathematics and General Aptitude section were conducted in CBT mode.

• Candidates did not face any technical glitches.
• Mathematics section: Quesions from Calculus dominated this section, no question was similar to January paper. Test takers had mixed reactions as some found this paper difficult while others said it was expected. 
• General Aptitude section: Tricky questions on identifying the top view, front view of 3D objects and shapes were asked. Also, there were 10 – 15 questions on GK like full form of ISRO or NASA and also location of places with architectural importance.
• Drawing section: the difficulty level was easy according to students.
  • In first question, students were asked to make something out of a cube with their creativity and imagination.
  • In the second question, they were given a flower which had to be replicated. 
  • While in the third question, students had to draw a rear view of professor teaching a class of students.

JEE Main 2018 Paper Analysis

JEE Main offline and online exam was successfully conducted in 2 shifts in India and abroad on April 8 & 15 respectively. The paper analysis intends to help candidates understand what the academia thinks of the question paper. At the JEE Main exam center, metal detectors were used to ensure candidates were not carrying any unfair material. The candidates were even asked to remove their belt and shoes. • JEE Main 2018 Paper was tougher than JEE Main 2017.
• The most difficult section in the exam was Physics. Candidates had a tough time to solve few of the questions. 
• Easiest of all was Chemistry section. Candidates did not have to think out of the box to solve it. Many of the questions were direct.

JEE Main 2017 Paper Analysis

• JEE Main 2017 was conducted on April 2 for offline mode and April 8 & 9 for online mode.
• Paper 1 had 90 questions distributed equally among 3 sections – Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. 
• Candidates with good preparation found the exam to be of moderate difficulty.
• The difficulty level of Mathematics was maximum followed by Physics and Chemistry.
• All the questions were framed as per JEE Main Syllabus prescribed by CBSE.

JEE Main 2017 Trend Analysis

The number of candidates who appear for JEE Main has increased exponentially. Total 11.21 lakh candidates appeared for JEE Main 2017, 73% of which were male and rest 27% were female.

• From JEE Main 2017 Question Paper Analysis, we infer that the questions asked were quite similar to the questions asked in JEE Main 2016.
• The overall difficulty level of JEE Main 2017 was moderate.
• More questions were asked from Class XII CBSE Syllabus than Class XI.

JEE Main 2017- Physics Analysis

• In Physics, Modern Physics had maximum weightage with 24 marks.
• Physics section was easier than that in JEE Main 2016.
• However moderately difficult, the section was lengthier.
• Students who focused on more numerical based questions than application based were at an advantage as more numercials were asked in this section.
• 19 questions were asked from Class XII syllabus and 11 from Class XI.

JEE Main 2017- Chemistry Analysis

• This section was considered to be the easiest among all the three sections.
• In Chemistry, the maximum questions were asked from Organic Chemistry – 8 questions, for a total of 32 marks.
• It wasn’t lengthy as more theory based questions were asked which made it easy and quick to solve.
• 17 questions were asked from Class XII while 13 were from Class XI syllabus.

JEE Main 2017- Mathematics Analysis

• This section, however easier than the previous year, was considered to be the most difficult one due to lengthy and time-consuming problems. 
• In Mathematics, Coordinate Geometry and Differential Calculus both had 5 questions each.
• 20 questions were asked from Class XII and 10 from Class XI syllabus.

Question Attempting Insights to Clear JEE Main Cut off

Candidates appearing for JEE Main must have certain strategies for time management, selection of questions and accuracy. All these factors are interdependent on each other and essential for a successful attempt. Candidates should have clarity on how many questions they aim to attempt. They should also have a rough picture on what topics they can or can not attempt.

With the increasing competition in JEE Main, it is a must for the candidates to set specific targets. Here are some section-wise tips which can assist you in finding the accurate paper attempting approach: 

1. Mathematics: Mathematics level has been easy to moderate since 3 years and topics like Matrices, Vector 3D, Determinants are some of the high scoring topics. Questions from Height and Distance and Trigonometry have not been asked from these chapters in recent years.

A person is likely to score 45-50 marks if he/she attempts 20 questions in Mathematics with 60% accuracy provided the candidate attempts all integer questions(non-negative questions). More emphasis should be laid on attempting integer questions rather than single choice questions.

2. Physics: For the last 5 years, Physics has been the toughest section of all which includes a lot of lengthy questions. The numerical part of the paper is generally asked from 11th standard whereas the conceptual part is mostly from 12th standard. One must concentrate more on the latter as it is a comparatively scoring part. 

With a 70% accuracy, if a candidate attempts 15 questions of Physics section, he/she can score more than 30 marks.

3. Chemistry: The Chemistry section is believed to be the easiest one where organic and inorganic questions are more of conceptual type. These questions should be given more focus due to direct correspondence with respective options.

If a candidate is able to attempt 22 Chemistry questions with 80% accuracy, he/she can score more than 60 marks.
