Once the CUET result is out, the registration process for all UG and PG programs will start on Delhi University’s admission portal - admission.uod.ac.in. Candidates will then be required to fill preference for the program and college.

For PG admission, 50% of the total intake will be allocated to the students who hold their bachelor’s degree from  Delhi University on the basis of merit in the qualifying examination and the remaining half to be filled on the basis of the candidate’s rank in the CUET PG examination.

The admission process was pretty simple. There was a list of cut off based on class 12th marks for every college in Delhi University. I got Shyam Lal College on the 4th Cut-Off List. The application form was hosted on the University of Delhi's website. I did not get the benefit of any Reservation as I am General Category Male. After my batch, the University of Delhi changed its admission process and now it is based on entrance exams along with class 12th marks. It is a great improvement in my opinion

Ques
Which college should I choose now that I have the option of BR Ambedkar or Shyam Lal college? Also should I consider any evening college?

● Top Answer By Dinesh Mishra, on 03 Nov 21

Ans
Here are some things you need to consider before choosing a college. These include the following. If you want to select an institution by considering the ranking, opt for Shyam Lal followed by BR Ambedkar. Evening colleges tend to have lower ranks overall. Your decision should also depend on the location of the college. As daily transportation will be necessary. You can opt for evening colleges if you have a job during the day. Shyam Lal is definitely preferred more than B.R Ambedkar.  As both the colleges are equally good in placements and faculty.  The difference lies in the infrastructure and the environment you get to study in, for which Shyam Lal is a better option. Categories BR Ambedkar College Shyam Lal College Course Fee INR 32,000 INR 49,000 Placement Percentage 85% 80% Highest CTC 10 LPA 12 LPA Average CTC 5 LPA 5-6 LPA Try not to go for evening colleges unless you are very uncomfortable with the morning timings. Because more preference is given to the morning batch students during placements.

Ques
Why do people not like Shyam Lal College?

● Top Answer By Ratul Maheshwari on 01 Oct 21

Ans
The most common reason for people having a bad perception of Shyam Lal college is the reputation of the olden days of the college. Many people might complain because it’s an out-campus college as it is away from the North or South campus of DU. So, it might lack some facilities and the environment which in-campus colleges might have. One of my relatives was lucky enough to be a part of the faculty in Shyam Lal College. He taught subjects like Company Law and Financial Accounting.  Here are some remarkable points he had experienced there: The classrooms and corridors are usually full of cheerful students listening and grasping the contents of lectures. Students' priority had been to attend the classes in the college.  All thanks to the well-prepared pedagogy and friendly interaction with the students.  No doubt students loved giving priority to attendance, classes, and other activities. Other faculty members were quite friendly and helpful as well. Categories Shyam Lal College Course Fee 29.75 - 52.35 K Highest CTC 5.5 LPA Average CTC 2.5 LPA Recruiting Companies TCS, HP, Infosys,Tech Mahindra, etc. Since my relative has retired from college with cherished memories, he doesn't regret it even a bit. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter if the college is situated on campus or not. Follow your passion and work hard wherever you are, as that is the only way to succeed.

Which one is better for English Hons Shyam Lal College or Satyawati College?

● Top Answer By Nirali Shukla on 01 Oct 21

Ans
My cousin sister recently graduated from Satyawati College with her English (Hons). To be precise, the experience wasn’t as pleasant as she expected. Here are some crucial insights regarding the college and faculty according to her first-hand experience. The faculty is not up to the mark due to the overwhelming amount of politics among themselves.  The cold war between the right and left-wing politics creates tension and fights between them. There have been instances when the faculty is too careless to even come to class. Instead, you might be marked absent for attendance, which is unacceptable. Once my sister submitted her assignment on time but it got lost due to the faculty’s carelessness.  To make matters worse, she was marked 0 for that assignment.  Later she found out they usually do that to students who call them out on their insincerity. Categories Shyam Lal College Satyawati College Course Fee 29.75 - 52.35 K 22.96 - 52.32 K Highest CTC 5.5 LPA 3.4 LPA Average CTC 2.5 LPA 1.5 LPA Recruiting Companies TCS, HP, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, etc. KAN Universal Private Limited, Signori Armadio, Infosys, Deloitte, etc. However, one of her friends did her English (Hons.) from Shyamlal College which turned out to be quite well and continued to go for higher studies in the same. But due to my sister’s awful experience at Satyawati, she eventually lost interest in the subject. Moreover, before taking admission into any DU college you must do thorough research on its faculty. Some colleges have really awful faculty which plays a huge role in your career.

Ques
Is it better to study B.Com from an average DU college like Shyam Lal, or Sri Aurobindo (Evening), or study for a BBA in IB from Amity University?

● Top Answer By Amit Mitra on 03 Nov 21

Ans
It’s better to prefer DU regular colleges given the choice. Course-wise, choosing B.Com over BBA is better, unless you are particularly interested in doing BBA. Here are some of the reasons why you should choose DU for your degree. Other colleges charge reasonably higher tuition fees compared to DU, especially for courses like BBA. If you are taking admission to a regular DU college try to engage in different activities. Join societies, clubs, etc. It will help you in the long run. In DU colleges, you will get enough time to do internships for work experiences. This will definitely look better on your CV. If you are a graduate from DU, then you will get certain advantages over Non-DU candidates, in job interviews. If you want to study CA, CS, etc. along with your degree, then it is better to do a B.Com. Since the B.Com syllabus will have more subjects related to CA, CS, CWA, etc. You can also easily prepare for other competitive exams, without your college timing being an issue.  Considering all these factors, doing B.Com from a regular DU college will be better than doing BBA from Amity University.

Ques
How is Shyam Lal College of Delhi University for doing a BA in economics honours?

● Top Answer By Shreetama Roy on 30 Sept 21

Ans
Shyam Lal College, Delhi is a good institute but not exceptional, if its prospects are compared with various other colleges. However, the economics department alone can be a good choice if you are opting for Shyam Lal College. Now, the faculties are good but it is essential that you study as per your pace and competence, without depending upon the professors. Shyam Lal College can be a good choice only if you are devoid of any other options to go for. There are other aspects to consider when choosing a college, the infrastructure, crowd, internship programs, fest, societies, canteen, campus, location are to name a few among many others. The infrastructure is quite good. The internship programs, alongside the fests, are not quite exceptional. In a way, the societies, in contrast, are ranging higher from time to time. Moreover, the canteen of the college is somewhat above average, while the location is quite disadvantageous. However, the institute is deemed pretty much better than others since it is under the University of Delhi.  Overall Shyam Lal College, Delhi is a decent option for pursuing your Economics Hons. Now whether you should go for it or not depends on what other options you have.

Ques
Which college is better for a B Com hons Shyam Lal College or Sri Aurobindo?

● Top Answer By Shreya palit on 30 Sept 21

Ans
I have a few friends from both Shyam Lal College (Delhi) and Sri Aurobindo. Here is what you can expect from the institutes.  Shyam Lal College (Delhi):  Infrastructure: The institute is not the best if we focus on its infrastructure and amenities, as per the requirements of the students. The washrooms are typically not in their best condition, unlike other institutes as well. However, the food quality of the canteen is favorably above average.  Placements: As per the reports, only about 40% to a maximum of 45% of the entire strength secure placements. The average salary package witnessed until now can range anywhere between INR 4 - 6 Lacs per Annum (LPA). Faculty: On a brighter note, the faculty members of the institute are undoubtedly exceptional. Sri Aurobindo College:  Educational prospects: Sri Aurobindo College is quite good for the commerce department.  Placements: Several top-tier companies visit the campus during the placement season, for instance, E&Y being one huge name among many others. In addition, students also secure the opportunity to study offshores, if their criteria meet, as per the rules of collaboration with companies. The placement cell equally contributes to helping students achieve their goals, with securing almost 80% of the placement percentage and an average salary package touching about INR 4 - 5 Lacs Per Annum. Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the institute is not as commendable as the other factors. However, the laboratories are quite good, with several pieces of equipment ready for use. Alongside that, the WiFi facilities are exceptional as well. As per what you have read, it is now upon what your decision looks like. Make an informed decision.
