Try not to go for evening colleges unless you are very uncomfortable with the morning timings. Because more preference is given to the morning batch students during placements.
The most common reason for people having a bad perception of Shyam Lal college is the reputation of the olden days of the college. Many people might complain because it’s an out-campus college as it is away from the North or South campus of DU. So, it might lack some facilities and the environment which in-campus colleges might have.
One of my relatives was lucky enough to be a part of the faculty in Shyam Lal College. He taught subjects like Company Law and Financial Accounting.
Here are some remarkable points he had experienced there:

Since my relative has retired from college with cherished memories, he doesn't regret it even a bit. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter if the college is situated on campus or not. Follow your passion and work hard wherever you are, as that is the only way to succeed.
My cousin sister recently graduated from Satyawati College with her English (Hons). To be precise, the experience wasn’t as pleasant as she expected. Here are some crucial insights regarding the college and faculty according to her first-hand experience.

However, one of her friends did her English (Hons.) from Shyamlal College which turned out to be quite well and continued to go for higher studies in the same. But due to my sister’s awful experience at Satyawati, she eventually lost interest in the subject.
Moreover, before taking admission into any DU college you must do thorough research on its faculty. Some colleges have really awful faculty which plays a huge role in your career.
Deshbandhu College is better than Shyam Lal College. Following are the reasons for the same:
The faculties at both institutes are good.
The short answer will be that Shyam Lal college is indeed a good college. My brother is currently pursuing a B.A. from this college and he finds the environment and faculty quite impressive.
Here are some insights you need to have a look at.

Overall, Shyamlal College is a good college of DU and gives you an ambient environment to achieve some goals in your life. Especially if you are joining the history department, you get one of the best faculty ever.
Shyam Lal College is a good option for B.Com Hons. The quality of education and facilities offered at the institute is better than Shyama Prashad Mukherjee College. It also offers better placements. According to the recent highlights of Shyam Lal College placements, commerce students get placed in reputed companies such as EY, KPMG, etc. The average CTC offered is around INR 5 LPA. Students are recruited in roles such as Accountant, Associate, HR Manager, etc.
Deshbandhu is comparatively a better institution than Shyam Lal college.
They are superior not only in academics but also in sports, extracurricular activities and they even mould the student to his best self. Deshbandhu has a better infrastructure which is appropriate for an educational institution.
The college provides the students the opportunity to learn about different things, including art, sports, math, literature, sciences and history, so that the students are able to discover what interests them and choose their goals accordingly.

It’s better to prefer DU regular colleges given the choice. Course-wise, choosing B.Com over BBA is better, unless you are particularly interested in doing BBA. Here are some of the reasons why you should choose DU for your degree.
Considering all these factors, doing B.Com from a regular DU college will be better than doing BBA from Amity University.
Shyam Lal College, Delhi is a good institute but not exceptional, if its prospects are compared with various other colleges. However, the economics department alone can be a good choice if you are opting for Shyam Lal College.
Now, the faculties are good but it is essential that you study as per your pace and competence, without depending upon the professors.
Shyam Lal College can be a good choice only if you are devoid of any other options to go for. There are other aspects to consider when choosing a college, the infrastructure, crowd, internship programs, fest, societies, canteen, campus, location are to name a few among many others.
The infrastructure is quite good. The internship programs, alongside the fests, are not quite exceptional. In a way, the societies, in contrast, are ranging higher from time to time. Moreover, the canteen of the college is somewhat above average, while the location is quite disadvantageous. However, the institute is deemed pretty much better than others since it is under the University of Delhi.
Overall Shyam Lal College, Delhi is a decent option for pursuing your Economics Hons. Now whether you should go for it or not depends on what other options you have.
I have a few friends from both Shyam Lal College (Delhi) and Sri Aurobindo. Here is what you can expect from the institutes.
