Course Information

Course Description

RGIPT offers admission to M.Tech courses in two specifications which are Petroleum Engineering and Chemical Engineering. Duration of course is 2 years. RGIPT provides 20 seats each in both specifications.

Basic eligibility for candidates to apply is a valid GATE Score. The application process is online but form filling will start 24 hours after submission of application fee. The application fee can be paid by online mode or by bank challan system. Read More: RGIPT Admission

RGIPT Rae Bareli M.Tech Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility criteria for admission will be set up by the institute. Candidate must check the eligibility criteria to apply for entrance exam. The criteria set up are as follows:

Petroleum Engineering: 4-years B.Tech/B.E. degree in Petroleum Engineering with a first class or minimum 60% marks or 6.0 CPI (55% marks or 5.58 CPI for SC/ST students) in the qualifying exam.
Chemical Engineering: A 4-year B. Tech/B.E. degree in Chemical or Petrochemical Engineering with a first class or minimum 60% marks or 6.0 CPI (55% marks or 5.58 CIP for SC/ST students) in the qualifying exam.
For both specifications, candidates need to have a valid GATE Score.

RGIPT Rae Bareli M.Tech Selection Process

Shortlisted candidates will be called for written test and interview. Final selection of candidates will be based on the performance in written test, interview, GATE Score and previous academic performance taken together.

All selected General/OBC candidates called for written test and interview will be reimbursed to and fro fare of sleeper class by shortest route after joining respective programs. However, SC/ST/PH candidates called for the written test and interview will be reimbursed to and fro fare of sleeper class by shortest route at the time of interview.

Note: Candidates need to produce Railway/Bus ticket for the claim.

Documents required at the time of Interview

The list of important documents which a candidate must carry at time of interview for verification of details are as follows:

GATE Score card copy, attested with original
Class 10^th and 12^th certificates and marksheets copies with original
Graduation marksheet copies with original
Work experience certificate (if any)

RGIPT Rae Bareli M.Tech Application Process

Application form must be submitted on or before the last date. Candidates need to pay the application fee prior to application form filling process. After 24 hours of successful submission of application fee, application form can be filled in. The steps of application process are as follows:

Step 1: Student Login-After fee submission wait for 24 hours and then click on ‘Apply online Application form’ and then ‘Student Login’ page will open. After filling the fields, click ‘Submit’ and you will be navigated to Registration page.
Step 2: Registration Page-Here candidate need to fill in all the required information. Candidates need to upload scanned signature, photograph, and valid GATE Score.
Step 3: Form Preview Page-Filled-in application form will be viewed here by the candidates for verification of details. After verification, candidates need to click on ‘Final Submit’. A SMS will be delivered and you will be navigated to Form Completion page.
Step 4: Form Completion Page-Candidates need to note down the RGIPT Registration number for future use and click on ‘Click here to print your application form’ link to move to printing process.

Documents required to be uploaded at the time of form filling are as follows:

Scanned Signature in JPEG Format and size not more than 50 KB.
Scanned recent photograph in JPEG format and size not more than 50 KB.
Scanned GATE Scorecard.

Application Fee

Candidates need to pay the application fee before filling the application form. Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances. Payment of application fee must be made through online mode or bank challan system (SBI & associate bank only).

For general and OBC candidates INR 400 must be paid whereas INR 200 for SC, ST and PH candidates.

Placement Opportunities:

MNNIT Allahabad is known for its good placement record, with approximately 70%+ placements in the Chemical Branch. So, if you are looking for a job after completing your course, MNNIT Allahabad could be a good option.
On the other hand, RGIPT is a new college, and its placement record is not as established as MNNIT Allahabad. Therefore, if you are solely focused on getting placed after your degree, MNNIT Allahabad might be a better choice.

Research Opportunities:

If you are interested in research, RGIPT is a dedicated institute for Petroleum and Chemical Engineering. Therefore, it has a focused approach toward research in this field.

RGIPT or Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology is a public government college of Uttar Pradesh. It has been ranked 136th by NIRF 2020.

PDPU or Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University is an engineering college in Gandhinagar.

UPES(The University of Petroleum and Energy) is a private engineering college in Dehradun, Uttrakhand. It has been ranked 66th by NIRF 2020. It is recognized by UGC, NAAC, and AIU.

Admissions:

In RGIPT, for admissions in B.Tech, the applicant must pass 12th with a minimum of 60% aggregate and qualify for the JEE Advanced entrance exam.
PDPU admission criteria are the passing certificate of the 12th class and JEE MAINS.
The eligibility required for B. Tech in UPES is at least 50% marks in 12th and JEE MAINS.

Fee Structure:

For B. Tech in RGIPT, the fee structure is of INR 9.7 lakhs only.
The fee structure of PDPU is 2.53 lakhs (1st year).

Which is better RGIPT or IIT-BHU or IIPE?

RGIPT, IIT BHU, and IIPE, all three are reputed national-level colleges. Choosing among these three, depends on the course you are interested in. Selecting the right branch is more important than brand recognition of the college. So, don’t choose IIT BHU, only because of the IIT tag. It’s true that the IIT tag offers certain advantages. But for job opportunities, your branch will matter more.

If you are getting Ceramics or Pharmaceutical at IIT BHU and Petroleum Engineering at RGIPT, then go for RGIPT. The Petroleum and Chemical branch of RGIPT offers more placement opportunities and exposure.
If you are interested in other core branches then IIT BHU is a better option.
Now, between RGIPT and IIPE, the former is the better choice for Petroleum Engineering. The course curriculum for the branch is similar but you will get better alumni support at RGIPT.
For Chemical Engineering, IIPE has a better course structure. Also, IIPE has a huge locational advantage. HPCL’s refinery is located in Visakhapatnam. The institute is only a few hours away from Kakinada, which has a huge potential of producing Methane Hydrates.

National Institute of Technology (NIT) Agartala has been ranked by the NIRF for its Engineering Program at No.75 out of 100. Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT) has been granted the status of Institute of National Importance. It is also ranked 134 for BTech by NIRF 2020. ABV Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management (IIITM, Gwalior) ranks at 100 for the BTech by NIRF 2020.

Admission: NIT Agartala, RGIPT, and IIITM Gwalior, all these institutes offer various programs in UG and PG levels. However, the popular courses at these institutes are BTech and MTech in different Engineering specializations.

NIT, Agartala-

In order to get admitted to the B.Tech Program at NIT, the candidate must have passed 10+2 with Mathematics and Physics being the compulsory subjects along with the entrance exam score of JEE Main.
For M.Tech admissions at NIT, the candidate must have a B.Tech Degree with an aggregate of 60% and selection will be done on the basis of GATE Scores.

RGIPT-

IIITM, Gwalior-
