Remarks:

For admission to engineering colleges in Kerala, we are required to attend the KEAM examination. This exam would have three parts- Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics with Mathematics having a higher weightage. A student can apply for this course through the KEAM portal and is required to submit a few documents like an income certificate, Nationality, and caste certificate for students belonging to categories other than general. This is done for reservation purposes. After the rank list is published, the admission processes start. The student is required to fill in their options from their candidate portal on the KEAM website. A certain date will be provided for the same. Then we have a trial allotment through which we know what are chances are considering the current options list and a day or two will be provided to make the required changes. Then there will be three more allotments. After each allotment the student is required to take admission to the college they are allowed.

College of Engineering: 4 answered questions

Ques
Which college is better: CET Trivandrum or NIT Calicut?

● Top Answer By Indrija Sengupta on 01 Oct 22

Ans
Among these NIT Calicut is better. Being an NIT it offers better resources and facilities. It offers well-equipped lab facilities. The campus library has a good collection of reference books. Students are also provided with digital library facilities. NIT Calicut also has a better industry reach. As a student of the institute, you will get better exposure and networking opportunities.  NIT Calicut placements 2022 concluded with an average CTC of INR 12.1 LPA. Mercedes Benz, Traceable AI, Ola Mobility, etc. were among the major recruiters that took part in the placement drive.

Ques
How is the College of Engineering Trivandrum compared to NIT Calicut?

● Top Answer By Melvin Joseph on 24 May 21

Ans
One of my friends was a student of NIT Calicut and a relative of mine is an alumnus of the College of Engineering Trivandrum. So the answer will be a comparison of their experiences. Exams:  The system of Kerala University involves allowing the students to appear for supplementary exams to avoid delay in studying for their B.Tech degrees.  In NIT, you will have to repeat the exams you have failed in. This can be either a good thing or a bad thing depending on how you approach your curriculum and exams. Admission: Students getting admission to CET have to appear for the KEAM; except for a small quota which is reserved for students from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mizoram, Nagaland who perform well in the National level Entrance test for NITs and IITs. For this reason, the cross-section of the class shows that there is a majority of Keralites. The campus of NIT Calicut seems to be diverse as students come from various states of India. Classes: In CET, the classes are like the timetable of a school with a lunch break in the middle. The classes usually get over at 4:00 PM.  In NIT, the classes are not scheduled one after another and you can go to the hostel to catch a breather. The students probably have a say in how they want the classes to be scheduled throughout the week. Depending on your plans, you might find the intermittent NIT classes to increase your productivity. Learning: In CET, the marks that one obtains in the exams are in no way related to the understanding of the subject matter.  The system cannot distinguish between rote knowledge and understanding which is seemingly different from the conduction of exams in NIT.  It is difficult to predict question papers in CET. CET students also get a lot of freedom as NIT students. They get ample time to do whatever they want.

During the 2022 placement drive, more than 150 recruiters took part in the campus drive. The highest CTC offered was INR 33 LPA.

Ques
Which is better, studying applied electronics at CET (College of Engineering, Trivandrum) or pursuing computer science at Amrita University, Coimbatore?

● Top Answer By Anamika Rai on 23 Oct 20

Ans
This is yet a difficult option to make a choice in opting for the simplest college among the both mentioned above since both of its departments are comparatively different. However, one must have a transparent image of the sort of school and department you would like to urge admission and make choices accordingly that match your prerequisites. College of Engineering, Trivandrum The Electronics and Communication Engineering Department was established at CET Campus. It provides various B. Tech programs, but would discuss particularly about the department of Applied Electronics. Infrastructure: The Department provides the best possible facilities for its students. The college has also provided its students the research labs like Power Electronics Research Lab [PERL], MEMS & Nano Electronics Lab, Computer Vision Lab, and Microwave Lab Faculty: The university holds the best faculty members where the majority of the professors are Ph.D. holders. Placements: As of the 2018-19 stats, top recruiters like Toshiba, Amazon, Saint-Gobain, Samsung, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, Wipro & Mahindra, etc. visited the campus For the B. Tech program, more than 100 job offers were made by top recruiters. Amrita University, Coimbatore The department of computing and engineering at Amrita University Coimbatore currently offers BTech in computing and technology and M. Tech in computing and engineering, AI, and data science. The department aims to draw in the best engineering aspirants and research scholars across the country. Infrastructure: The facilities provided by Amrita University are fairly good and therefore the infrastructure is above average. medical and sports facilities are provided to students living on campus and the Wi-Fi facility is out there within the hostel and college for college kids. Faculty: The faculty at Amrita University are highly qualified and about 5% of the teachers are M. Tech students who passed out from an equivalent college.  The course curriculum is usually updated with the requirements of the industry and therefore the teaching quality of college members is extremely good. Placement: Amrita University offers placements because the maximum number of scholars got placed in many companies like Amazon, Google, TCS, etc.  Students start getting internships in their third and fourth years through our campus.  The very best salary package offered is 30 LPA and therefore the average salary package offered is 3.5 LPA. The details discussed above will assist you in making a wise decision about which college you want to prefer for CSE. However, the wants must be considered just like the placements, fees, and faculties to make sure your chances of getting admitted.
