the course curriculum at jmc is well structured and offers a solid foundation core subjects. what made me choose BCom honours is the range of elective is that let me focus on what my interest is in and what is great for personalising my studies. The curriculum enclose real world topics are prepare me for actual situation, which are really helpful, it balances theory and practical well, helping me to get ready for both job and further studies, internships and projects give me hand hands on experience as well, exams are spaced out well, but they can be challenging the test. My understanding thoroughly, so we have to be prepared. More practical assessment might make things even better. They also use modern teaching methods and technology technology that makes classes more engaging. They also add more practical projects or industry connections that make the learning even more relevant.
I chose James over others due to it strong academic reputation. As I say again, diverse programs and supportive campus environment jmc stood out with its variety of electives and excellent facilities. I applied to Christ university, SRCC Hansraj and received admission offers from Christ. GMC, holistic education approach and campus life were key factor in my decision. I was rejected by SRCC due to higher competition or not meeting. Cut-off eligibility requires a minimum percentage in class 12th jmc also accepts board exam course with cut-off typically between 90 to 95% but from now on they have started with a new entrance exam called CET, it's been two years since CET has started it. We started in 2022 and the cut-off for BCom honours in jmc was 740. The application process is straightforward involving submission of transcripts and documents with clear guidance and efficient communication through.
Read Full ReviewThe course curriculum is very good. The area of improvement in the course is there are a very large amount of students in class and there is only one teacher to handle it. They should be divided into 2 or 3 parts means they should increase the faculty members. The timing of the exam is not satisfying sometimes the teachers come 10-15 minutes late.
The admission process was based on merit. I have taken the admission on the behalf of cut-off. I have found the application form online paid the application fee online and got the application date also online. In exam time sometimes the teachers come to class a little bit late.
Read Full ReviewKirori Mal College is better than Jesus and Mery College. It is on the North Campus of DU, so you will get a better feel of the complete university. The college has good connectivity. The attendance rules are lenient. The overall campus environment is more chilled out.
In Kirori Mal College placements 2021, 135+ companies took part. The average CTC offered was around INR 6.02 LPA. Deloitte USI, DE Shaw, Ernst & Young, etc. took part in the placement drive.
I have friends from both St. Stephens and JMC. Here are a few of the information that I got from them.
Now coming to the courses, in English honors, you will learn about a myriad of texts from different countries and different time periods. However, you will have to spend your three years around poetry and prose. You won’t get to experience much diversity when it comes to subjects. For the BA program, however, you can choose all subjects from Social Science. There are many combinations that you can opt for.
So, I will suggest that you choose the program which will keep you interested for the next three years. College life will be similar irrespective of the institute. Also, gone are the days when students with honors degrees were treated superior to the students who pursued programs.
Among all three colleges, Khalsa College is better since it has good infrastructure and better faculties. It is also a co-ed college and the crowd at SGTB Khalsa College is much better than Daulat Ram College.
It’s always better to choose an institute near your home. You can save the time you will need to spend during travel otherwise. If distance isn’t an issue for you, you can choose Jesus and Mary College.
Jesus and Mary College is one of the most reputed women’s colleges at Delhi University. Here are some highlights of the college.
Overall, JMC is a great option for pursuing your degrees. It is also one of the few colleges that are not affected by the Delhi University Student Union.
I know people from both JMC and Venky. Based on the things I heard from them, I will say Venky is definitely a better option for doing a B.Sc (Hons) in Mathematics. Here is why.
Considering all these factors, it is safe to say that Venky is definitely a better option.
Here is some information regarding the JMC and Hansraj Maths department based on the experience of my friends from both institutes.
JMC:
Hansraj:
Go through the above-mentioned points and choose the institute that suits your requirements.
JMC is known for its diverse crowd. Although it is a minority college with a 50% seat reservation for Christian students, the peer group at the institute is great. You will get to meet students from different states like Jammu, Kashmir, Kerala, Assam, Manipur, Panjab, Mizoram, etc. There are people from different religions and regional communities.
The campus is lively. You will find different societies working and classes taking place at different corners of the campus. The infrastructure of the college is beautiful.
JMC and Maitreyi, are reputed neighboring colleges with their own advantages. It will be better for you depends on the course you are applying for. For Arts courses, JMC is better. Whereas, for Science courses, Maitreyi is the better choice. I have friends from both colleges and here are their insights about the colleges.
Maitreyi:
JMC:
Both Maitreyi and JMC are well-reputed and have decent facilities. So, choose an institute according to your subject preference.
According to my friends from Delhi University, it is not easy to maintain 67% attendance. You will have to attend classes regularly and it also depends on your timetable. If you have 7 lectures per week for a specific subject, you have to attend at least 4, in order to achieve 67% attendance. Also, the classes can get canceled for fests/events/protests, etc. So, don’t bunk classes frequently. Especially if you are in any kind of society. In that case, even after as many classes as you can, you won’t have an attendance percentage above 70-75%.
If you are not in any kind of society, it’s better to attend more than half of the lectures each week.
LSR and JMC both are reputed colleges. If we compare then LSR is definitely a better college than JMC. LSR is the best girls college in DU, followed by JMC.
However, it’s best to choose the course of your interest over college. As the course will have more effect on your future. So, research about the course that you are interested in, in both LSR and JMC.
In general, as a subject, Economics Hons has better scope than Statistics Hons. However, if you are interested in numbers, Statistics is a better fit for you.
