undefined's profile photo

Jesus & Mary College admissions 2023 will be based on Common University Entrance Test (CUET) scores conducted by NTA for all undergraduate and graduate programs. CUET UG scores will be used to determine admission to UG courses, while the CUET PG exam will be used to determine admission to PG courses. Starting in the academic year 2023, the Delhi University Entrance Test (DUET) for PG admissions will no longer be used.

On Delhi University's admission website- admission.uod.ac.in, registration for all UG and PG programs will begin following the declaration of the CUET results. After that, candidates will fill in their preference for a program and a college for the allocation of seats. The Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) portal will be used to allocate seats for UG courses.

For PG admissions, 50% of the seats will be filled on basis of merit in qualifying examination. Candidates who hold a bachelor's degree from Delhi University are the only ones who can choose the merit-based option. The CUET PG exam will be used to fill the remaining 50% of seats. For both merit-based and entrance-based admissions, the institute's merit list will serve as the basis for the final selection.

Jesus & Mary College provides 50% reservation for students belonging to minority community i.e for the Christian Students. The college also provides seats reserved for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD category candidates.

Kirori Mal College is better than Jesus and Mery College. It is on the North Campus of DU, so you will get a better feel of the complete university. The college has good connectivity. The attendance rules are lenient. The overall campus environment is more chilled out.

In Kirori Mal College placements 2021, 135+ companies took part. The average CTC offered was around INR 6.02 LPA. Deloitte USI, DE Shaw, Ernst & Young, etc. took part in the placement drive.

I have friends from both St. Stephens and JMC. Here are a few of the information that I got from them.

  • St. Stephens is a prestigious college with its own sets of rules and code of conduct. It has a good campus. If you want to explore ideas, places and have a decent campus life then St. Stephens is a great option.
  • JMC is an off-campus college. So, you won’t have access to campus. It is a girl’s college with strict rules.

Now coming to the courses, in English honors, you will learn about a myriad of texts from different countries and different time periods. However, you will have to spend your three years around poetry and prose. You won’t get to experience much diversity when it comes to subjects. For the BA program, however, you can choose all subjects from Social Science. There are many combinations that you can opt for.

So, I will suggest that you choose the program which will keep you interested for the next three years. College life will be similar irrespective of the institute. Also, gone are the days when students with honors degrees were treated superior to the students who pursued programs.

Among all three colleges, Khalsa College is better since it has good infrastructure and better faculties. It is also a co-ed college and the crowd at SGTB Khalsa College is much better than Daulat Ram College.

It’s always better to choose an institute near your home. You can save the time you will need to spend during travel otherwise. If distance isn’t an issue for you, you can choose Jesus and Mary College.

I know people from both JMC and Venky. Based on the things I heard from them, I will say Venky is definitely a better option for doing a B.Sc (Hons) in Mathematics. Here is why.

  • Faculty - Venky has one of the best faculty bases in the whole university. The teachers are well-experienced and cooperative.
  • Infrastructure - The infrastructure of the institute is great. There is a foyer, ICT lab, auditorium, and a well-equipped Maths department.
  • Library - The library has a great collection of books.
  • Fest - Exponents is the fest for the Maths department. You will get to meet other Math scholars in this fest. Other than that, there is the annual fest Nexus.

Considering all these factors, it is safe to say that Venky is definitely a better option.

JMC and Maitreyi, are reputed neighboring colleges with their own advantages. It will be better for you depends on the course you are applying for. For Arts courses, JMC is better. Whereas, for Science courses, Maitreyi is the better choice. I have friends from both colleges and here are their insights about the colleges.

Maitreyi:

  • The faculties of the college are great.
  • It organizes many extracurricular activities. There are sports facilities for basketball, volleyball, football, etc.
  • It doesn’t have an auditorium and functions are held under a tent.

JMC:

  • JMC has better infrastructural facilities. The classrooms are bigger. There is an air-conditioned auditorium.
  • It also organizes many extracurricular activities.
  • The canteen is well-maintained and there is availability of variety of foods.

Both Maitreyi and JMC are well-reputed and have decent facilities. So, choose an institute according to your subject preference.

According to my friends from Delhi University, it is not easy to maintain 67% attendance. You will have to attend classes regularly and it also depends on your timetable. If you have 7 lectures per week for a specific subject, you have to attend at least 4, in order to achieve 67% attendance. Also, the classes can get canceled for fests/events/protests, etc. So, don’t bunk classes frequently. Especially if you are in any kind of society. In that case, even after as many classes as you can, you won’t have an attendance percentage above 70-75%.

If you are not in any kind of society, it’s better to attend more than half of the lectures each week.

LSR and JMC both are reputed colleges. If we compare then LSR is definitely a better college than JMC. LSR is the best girls college in DU, followed by JMC.

However, it’s best to choose the course of your interest over college. As the course will have more effect on your future. So, research about the course that you are interested in, in both LSR and JMC.

In general, as a subject, Economics Hons has better scope than Statistics Hons. However, if you are interested in numbers, Statistics is a better fit for you.
