Course Description

Shiv Nadar University offers M.Tech course in different streams at its Delhi NCR campus. Students are shortlisted on the basis of online written tests conducted by the Shiv Nadar University followed by interviews for qualified candidates. Stream-specific tests are conducted and those with valid scores in GATE will be exempted from the online test.

Shiv Nadar University M. Tech Course Highlights

M.Tech is a 2-year full-time course offered in 4 specializations at SNU.
Admissions are done under a regular as well as a sponsored category on full time basis.
Aspirants need to have a bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a minimum of 60% aggregate in relevant stream or equivalent CGPA of at least 6.5/10.
10 seats are available for CSE and Civil and 15 for Mechanical Engineering.
GATE score will be criteria for selection and those without the entrance exam will be selected on the basis of online written test and interview.

Shiv Nadar University M.Tech Eligibility Criteria

For admission to M.Tech in any specialization from SNU, the candidate is required to fulfill the eligibility criteria. The candidate must have :

B.E/B. Tech. Degree in relevant specialization from a recognized technical institute.
The minimum aggregate required is 60% or equivalent CGPA of 6.5/10.

Shiv Nadar University M.Tech Admission Criteria

The admission process is:

Admission to M. Tech courses at SNU is based on the entrance. The admission list will be displayed on the website for students who have cleared the GATE entrance test via the COAP counseling process.
Apart from regular admissions via GATE, there will be sponsored admissions as well which is open for candidates without a GATE score but valid work experience of at least 2 years.
Those with regular admission and no GATE score can also apply but they need to appear for University conducted online entrance test followed by the process of the interview at the campus.
The entrance test syllabus will more or less be similar to the GATE exam for the respective stream.
GATE score of more than 500 will be accepted for admissions and those from NIT or IIT will be selected based on CGPA equal to or more than 6.5 on a scale of 10.

How to apply?

Eligible students need to register themselves in online mode at the college official website by following below steps:

Visit the official website of SNU i.e., snu.edu.in.
Select the Admissions tab from the homepage and further select the link for PG admissions
From the available list of PG programs, click on Apply Now option for the desired stream
Sign up as a new applicant by entering personal details, valid e-mail id, and password
Confirmation mail be received on the registered mail id and then use the link to visit the online application form
Complete the details in the form including academic and personal information
Upload relevant documents
Pay an application fee of INR 1200 in online mode to complete the application process
Submit and take the printout of the duly filled form for reference

Shiv Nadar University M.Tech Course Details

The 2-year M. Tech course has 5 specializations namely Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, and Civil Engineering.
55 credits need to be completed for Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and CSE including 27 classroom credits, 3 hours laboratory credits, 5 hours of industry internship credits, and 20 hours for research thesis
Available specialization for Mechanical Engineering are Materials and Manufacturing, Energy Technology and Design

One of my friends attended Shiv Nadar University. She loved the time she spend on campus.

Academics:

The course curriculum and grading system are designed in such a way that, you won’t be able to slack off. The campus seniors have taken a great initiative to decrease the academic load of juniors through the LASC program. Through this program, seniors teach important topics, resolve doubts and also help juniors plan out preparation strategies for examinations.

Ranking:

Shiv Nadar University ranking - It was ranked 84 by NIRF 2021.

Extra-Curricular:

As a student of SNU, you will get to take part in seminars, conferences and meet a lot of delegates. There are also many club activities. You should take part in at least one club during your time on campus.

SNU college fest, BREEZE gets better with each coming year. Friendly intercollege competitions and events are organized by the clubs of SNU.

Hostels:

There are ac and non-ac hostel accommodations. Each hostel has proper housekeeping and trash disposal facilities. Hostels also have laundry services. There are round-the-clock first-aid and medical assistance provided.

Food offered at SNU is good. You can also order in from eateries outside.

Placements:

SNU has a good placement record. During the 2021 placement drive, the average and highest CTC offered was INR 7.82 LPA and INR 24 LPA.

Despite being IIT Kanpur, a whole brand, many prefer SNU over it. There are multiple reasons why people would choose a private institute over a government-funded institute.

SNU is a multidisciplinary research-oriented university. Being fully interdisciplinary, it allows students of every branch to choose from a wide range of minor electives covering fields ranging from Physics, Maths, Economics, Dance, and Data Analytics to History, Sociology, Communications, Management, and many others. So you are able to pursue more than one field at once irrespective of the branch you belong to.
SNU has a research-centric approach and even UGC has verified this. It has managed to give a high research output across various fields worth over Rs. 30 Crore.
SNU is well known for its top-notch Infrastructure and amenities including hostel and mess facilities that are better than IIT Kanpur.

Being a new university, SNU cannot be found in the recent rankings but it soon will surpass other institutes.

IT from MSIT (Maharaja Surajmal) is better. It has a better industry presence, especially in NCR. Many reputed companies take part in MSIT placements. Google, MU Sigma, ZS Associates, Jaro Education, Wingify, Infosys, etc. are among the major recruiters. Students receive an average package of around INR 4-5 LPA. The highest CTC goes up to INR 55 LPA.

Which is better IISER Berhampur or Shiv Nadar University for BSc MSc in Physics?

Both the universities are well renowned and are known for their quality education and placements. Whereas, the only difference lies in the selection procedure.

IISERs only accept admissions on the basis of JEE Advanced scores. Thus, giving you a better peer group. But SNU also offers a good BSc/MSc program for Physics.

Thus, choosing any one of them is definitely a tough task. But given the choice between the two, students tend to go with IISER, due to its selection factor.

BBA and BMS are two different courses. When making a choice between NMIMS BBA and Shiv Nader BMS, give preference course over institute. Choose what interests you more.

On an overall scale, NMIMS BBA is a slightly better choice. Due to the locational advantage, you will get good exposure. You can do internships and projects while pursuing your BBA. NMIMS placements are good for BBA. The salary packages offered goes up to INR 12 LPA.
