Course Description

IIT BHU MTech admissions are based on GATE Score followed by COAP counselling. For IIT BHU MTech Admission 2024, GATE Registrations have started from August 30. The closing date of regular registration is September 29, 2023. Along with that, the deadline for extended online registration or application process (with late fee) is 13^th October, 2023.

IIT BHU offers MTech program in 9 different specialisations namely Ceramic Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Electronics Engineering. IIT BHU offer these courses for a duration of 2 years divided into 4 semesters.

IIT BHU grants admission to its MTech program based on the merit scores of GATE. However, the institute also conducts a written test and a personal interview. 30% of a candidate’s selection depend on the the personal interview round. For IIT BHU MTech admission 2024, candidates have to clear the tests and then they must register for COAP counselling 2024 to acquire a seat at the institute.

IIT BHU Admission Process Criteria 2024

The IIT BHU M.Tech selection criteria is divided into two stages:

Stage 1: Candidates are selected on the basis of qualifying degree merit and GATE score

Stage 2: Selected candidates are called for Written Test/Interview.

For selection in IIT BHU M.Tech, 70% weightage is given to GATE score and 30% to the PI.

Candidates falling under the IIT BHU M.Tech eligibility criteria have to register for Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP). It is a centralized counselling process through which seats are allotted to shortlisted candidates. Only COAP registered candidates can participate in IIT BHU M.Tech admission.

Candidates have to first fill the IIT BHU admission form followed by COAP Counselling registration.

Candidates having their names in the shortlist are required to appear for Interview/ Counselling form May 02 to May 09, 2024.Once the IIT BHU M.Tech registration is completed, COAP counselling rounds will commence. In each round of counselling candidates have to accept/reject the allotted seat. If the seat is accepted then admission fees are to be paid as confirmation of the same.

GATE 2024 COAP Registration Process

After passing the GATE entrance exam, candidates are to register for the COAP counseling process to secure their admission into IITs, NITs, and other participating institutes. COAP provides a common platform for the registered candidates to make the most preferred choice for admission into an M.Tech. Program in the participating Institutes.

Eligibility Criteria to Register for COAP 2024

The candidate must be a citizen of India.
Candidates should have a valid GATE score from 2024

GATE 2024 COAP Step by Step Registration Process:

The candidates can successfully apply for GATE COAP 2024 by simply following the below:

Step 1: Visit the official website of COAP @ coap.iitd.ac. and click on the registration link.

Step 2: Fill in details such as their GATE Registration Number, GATE Paper Code, GATE score, date of birth.

Step 3: Click on the “Validate” icon and enter the registered email id and mobile number.

Step 4:Click on the “Submit to Register” button.

Step 5: After the registration is successfully done for COAP 2024, the candidates will obtain a Login ID and Password for COAP Login. The same will be sent via Email and SMS.

Step 6: The COAP registration will only be considered as complete only if the candidates log in using the Login ID and Password and verify the registration details.

Step 7: After the completion of the above-given steps, the candidate can access the information on offers made from the participating Institutes.

Step 8: In the end, the admission offer will be uploaded at COAP website and will be tagged with COAP registration number (same as GATE registration number without subject code).

In the final IIT BHU selection process a total 30% weightage is assigned to the Interview. Candidates preparing for the IIT BHU M.Tech Interview must make a note of the following points.

He is a Guinness World Record holder scientist and is currently working as a professor at Rice University Houston Texas USA in the Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science Department. One of my friends studied at IIT BHU, he used to avail hostel facilities. According to him, the hostels were overall good but had one complaint with the allotment of students. Most of the students there preferred 2 students sharing one room rather than 3. Here’s mentioning some points about the hostels. The Aryabhatta hostel is for freshers. Every room has good ventilation. The windows opening outside makes the room spacious. Water coolers are present at every floor. All rooms are equipped with 2 almirahs, 2 beds, 2 tables and 2 chairs. Students can play badminton, tennis, etc. during their off time in the hostel premises. The big hall at Aryabhatta hostel has 3 messes. The mess staff are well organized as well. Every furniture in the room is labelled with its respective room number to avoid misplacement. Each floor has a common bathroom and toilet. Wifi is also provided to the students. Overall, the hostels here are very well maintained, the new hostels are better than the older ones but are comparatively smaller.
