Course Description

Sathyabama University, formally known as Sathyabama Engineering College, is a deemed university run by a trust known as “JEPPIAAR EDUCATIONAL TRUST”. Sathyabama University is spread over a sprawling campus of 350 acres which houses 20 departments offering various undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG) and research courses, and more than 15 research centers.

The University offers admission to the following research programmes:

Ph.D. in all disciplines of Engineering / Technology , Management and Science
M.Phil. – Biotechnology
M.Phil. - Nanoscience and Nanotechnology
M. Tech. (By research )

Only candidates who are permanent residents of India with the relevant qualifying degree can register for the above mentioned courses. Seats are reserved for people belonging to different categories such as SC (15%) /ST (8%) /OBC (27%) etc. Check Sathyabama University Admission

Candidates can register for admission by filling-in the offline/ online application form and submitting the required processing fee, on or before March 31(tentative). Admission to the above research programmes is done on the basis of performance of the candidate in the qualifying degree examination and marks secured in the entrance test, followed by an interview.

Sathyabama University PhD Eligibility Criteria

For Ph.D. Programme

The university offers Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in all the concerned disciplines of different streams such as Engineering / Technology, Management, and Science.

Eligibility: Candidate must possess any of the following qualifications - M.E./M.Tech/M.Arch /M.Sc/M.B.A/M.Phil/M.S (By Research)

For M.Phil. / M.Tech. (by research) Programme

The university offers Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) programme in the following disciplines:

Biotechnology
Nanoscience and Nanotechnology

Eligibility: Candidate must possess the relevant qualifying master’s degree

Sathyabama University PhD Admission Process

Selection of the candidates will be done based on their qualifying degree merit as well as marks scored in the entrance exam and interview, conducted by the university.

Notes

Scholarship:

The university provides scholarship to the students scoring top 25 positions in the merit list. A full tuition fee waiver is provided for the selected students.
The university also provides ‘Remibai Jeppiaar Scholarship’ to the students scoring top 3 positions in their semester examinations.

Hostel:

The university provides full-fledged hostel facilities to the students (both boys and girls). Hostel fee of Rs. 60,000 / annum is applicable for the candidates availing the hostel facilities.

How to Apply?

Candidates can purchase the application form on payment of INR 500 from the University Admission office and send the duly filled-in applications to ‘The coordinator, Sathyabama University’ on or before March 31 (tentative)
Application forms can also be obtained through post by sending a request letter along with the processing fee through demand draft (DD), drawn in favor of Sathyabama College and payable at Chennai. The request letter should reach the following address:

Students can also apply online through the official website of the university. After filling the application form, candidate should pay the processing fee through online payment modes such as E-banking/credit card/debit card or by challan payment at any one of the Indian bank branches

How good is placement at Sathyabama University?

Most students and parents are concerned about this question and many of them ask regarding the placements at many colleges. As far as my sister’s batch was concerned, there were around 1,500 students in the CSE department alone. Getting a job outside the campus is quite tough presently. Most people will hence go for an on-campus interview. Top recruiters of the university include TCS, CTS, Wipro, and Infosys. The bulk of the student population is mass recruited here for jobs with an average salary of INR 3.5 to 4.5 LPA. After that, many dream companies and super dream companies also visit. You need to have a strong portfolio and so on. My advice to you would be to maintain good grades throughout your semesters and you should also try to learn new things apart from your daily studies. You should try to explore the field you are interested in and keep yourself updated with current information and technology in your field and not be a bookworm. You can also try to build your own startup if you wish to not get placed in a company. This will definitely set you apart from the rest of your classmates and maybe in the future, you will be able to provide jobs to other students.

Both Karunya and Satyabhama are Christian minority institutions and it depends mostly on what you are looking for. You must know that Karunya University is strictly religious and they might force you to follow the same. Academics is their secondary focus. Whereas, Sathyabama is a bit more lenient in this way. It offers great exposure due to its location in Chennai. It will be a better option for you when compared to Karunya. However, the facilities offered are not good and not even functional. The faculty members are also average and are not exceptional. It is currently a Deemed-to-be university Both these institutes are subpar and if you really want to have a bright future, look for better options.

Go for a Computer Science course at Sathyabama University, Chennai as it would be a better choice for your career. However, this in no way means that LNCT is not a good institution. You should work upon your skills, as it would help you get a job later in the domain of Information Technology if your career goal is to be placed in an IT company. Satyabhama is located in the southern region of India. There are many reputed IT companies situated there especially in cities like Chennai, Bangalore, and Hyderabad. This would offer you an advantage in attending seminars and competitions. This will also increase your industrial reach. You can go for industry visits, opt for internships, etc. Finally, this would help you in acquiring a job role in a multinational company or a startup. Categories CSE at Satyabhama Chennai Placement Percentage 91.17% Highest Package offered INR. 41 LPA Median Package offered INR. 4.2 LPA 2218 students were registered for placement.
