Among the above two institutes, CUSAT is a better option for engineering in Computer Science, considering the enormous opportunities provided by the institute. The main campus of CUSAT is excellent, having decent-level architecture and facilities inside the campus. In terms of technological events, there are tons of opportunities for students to participate in CUSAT. Is college life in Sastra University good?

● Top Answer By Aniket Mishra on 30 Oct 21

Ans
I have a few friends from Sastra University. According to them, college life at Sastra is good. It offers decent academic facilities. Here are some of the things that you need to know about the institute. Dress-code for boys is shirts, jeans or formal trousers. For girls, it’s Kurti or salwar.  Hostel rules are more lenient for boys. They can stay out until 9 PM. Girls are only allowed to stay out till 6.  Try to make a few friends, if you want to have a good hostel life. If you are from different states, you may feel isolated at first. But try to communicate with others, that way you can find like-minded people. Overall, you will have good experiences at Sastra University.

Ques

Are there donation seats in the SASTRA University?

● Top Answer By Sautrik Ghose on 30 Oct 21

Ans
I have a few friends who attended SASTRA University. According to them, there are no such donation seats available. The admission process is completely based on merit. It is one of the few private universities that take admission through JEE Mains score. The counseling process is transparent and due to high competition, getting admission at the university can be tough.  The only way to join SASTRA University without merit-based admission is through the NRI quota. However, the number of seats is limited. You will need to register for it. The fees will be different too.

What should I choose between IIIT Sri City and Sastra University?

● Top Answer By Moinak Ghose on 23 Mar 21

Ans
Between Sastra University and IIIT Sri City Sastra University is definitely the better choice. It has an amazing curriculum, placement records, and research facilities. The brand name is a plus point too. IIIT Sri City, being a new institute, has a huge task ahead to level up and compete with other institutions. Their facilities and the faculty are not up to the mark of Sastra University.  The branch which you are interested in also plays a major role in selecting what is best for you. If you are inclined towards Biological Sciences, Sastra is perfect for you. Their Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, and Medical Nanotechnology branches are top-notch and they even have higher placement opportunities in CS and mechanical branches. Quick stats 2021: Particulars IIIT Sri City Sastra University Highest CTC offered 22LPA 28.5LPA Average CTC offered 8.26LPA 9.3LPA Top recruiters Amazon, Infosys, Fonsol, L&T. TCS, Deloitte, Accenture, ICICI Bank, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. Sastra University is pretty strict when compared with IIIT Sri City. But you will have more learning opportunities at Sastra.

Is Sastra University better than NIT’s?

● Top Answer By Deepika Jain on 30 Oct 21

Ans
Based on various parameters like salary packages, peer group, etc. NITs are definitely better than SASTRA.  However, SASTRA is also a reputed university, especially if we talk about research facilities. It has a great research infrastructure. The faculties are also good. Many of them are IIT or NIT alumni. The faculty research outcome of SATRA is similar to that of NIT Trichy, in terms of citation.  Alumni of SASTRA are pursuing their studies in reputed universities around the world like MIT, Caltech, Harvard, etc.

SASTRA University, Thanjavur: Does your CGPA really matter at the end of your course?

● Top Answer By Siddhartha Bose on 12 Nov 21

Ans
Yes, CGPA at SASTRA does matter, especially if you have low CGPA. It will affect your placement and as well as other things. But if you are proficient in programming then you can get into companies like Google without CGPA being a problem. If you have a low GPA, you will miss out on the following things. ACRS: If you want to finish your course in the 7th semester, you will need a GPA of 7.5+. To get the course you want you will need to have around an 8.5 GPA. Although most companies set 7.0 GPA requirements. Most dream companies ask for a GPA of 8+. You won’t be able to go to your graduation ceremony, since SASTRA only invites students with GPAs of 7.5+. Apart from these above reasons, GPA matters for other reasons too. While hiring, companies look at your GPA, not to evaluate how much you know. Rather they want to how responsible and committed you are.

Ques

How is Sastra University?

● Top Answer By Sanjukta Roy on 30 Oct 21

Ans
Sastra University is one of the most reputed institutes in South India, especially for engineering. In 2020, it was ranked 50 for university and 38 for B.Tech by NIRF. I have a few friends from Sastra University.  Here are some of the information regarding the institute that my friends shared.  Infrastructure: There are costly research facilities, i.e. ASK1 and ASK2. There are plenty of things that you can explore if you are genuinely interested.  For branches like ECE, Mech, Civil, CSE the laboratory facilities provided are excellent. The classrooms have projectors. Sastra offers hostel accommodation for their students. The hostel facilities are decent. There is a post office and ATM near the hostels. The campus has two canteens i.e Canopy and Krishna Canteen, on-campus that offers decent food at affordable prices. There are a few eateries around the campus too. Faculty and Curriculum:  The faculty base of the institute is great.  The curriculum was renewed recently. It is updated with the industry requirements. Mark System and Scholarships: Sastra follows a GPA system. Having a decent GPA can help you get scholarships and even a chance to sit for placement in reputed companies. If you have a GPA of around 8.5, you can sit for companies like Amazon, Cypress, etc. Although most companies allow students with a 7.5 CGPA to sit for placements.   Placement:  The placement record of the institute is great. In the 2021 placement drive, the highest CTC offered by the university was 27 LPA.  Overall, Sastra University is great. It will offer great infrastructure, decent facilities, and placement at an affordable fee.
