IIM Kozhikode EPGC Eligibility Criteria

Candidates seeking admission to the IIM Kozhikode EPGC program shall fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

Candidates must have passed Bachelor's or equivalent in any discipline with a minimum of at least 50% marks from any well-recognized university by UGC.
After completion of the graduation, the candidate must have a minimum of 3 years of managerial/Entrepreneurial/ professional work experience.
For EPGCSM, candidates must have 7-years of work experience
For EFPGCAIML and EPGCDTA, candidates must have studied 3 subjects related to Information Technology during Graduation or any additional diploma in Certification in Information Technology

Note: If any candidate has working experience before completion of graduation degree will not be considered while taking admission to this program.

IIM Kozhikode EPGC Admission Criteria

Candidates who want to take admission at IIM Kozhikode Executive Post Graduate Certificate (EPGC) Program must go through the two-step admission process

Profile evaluation of candidates will be done and shortlisting of candidates will be done after this step.
Final Shortlisted candidates will be called for personal interviews through video conferencing mode.

IIM Kozhikode EPGC Course Details

The full tenure of the EPGC program is divided into 4 quarters. The program offers a range of foundation, advanced and integrative courses in the specific functional area through an Interactive Learning mode.

The total coursework of the EPGC program is 22.5 credits and 225 hours.
Interactive learning of 189 hours which is based on audio/video mode of conferencing. Classes are scheduled for 2 days a week with 3 hours of the session each day.
Classroom learning which includes 36 hours which is mandatory to attend that covers orientation which focuses on case-based learning, analytical thinking, and give information about trends in the industry and business.

Program Structure

Class Schedule: The class schedule of the EPGC program is on Wednesday from 6:45 PM – 9:45 PM and on Saturdays from 03:30 PM – 06:30 PM.

Financial Assistance: IIM Kozhikode provides financial assistance to the students and can claim education loan facilities from HDFC, State Bank of India, and Bank of Baroda.

Ques. What is the minimum age to apply for the IIM Kozhikode EPGC?

Ans. A student applying for the IIM Kozhikode EPGC program should be of at least 21 years of age. This is as per standard norms which are provided by the Education Board as before applying for postgraduate course students must have done Graduation.

Your brother has a fairly good chance of section as his CAT percentage is well-above the required cutoff. For 2021, IIM Kozhikode cutoff was 85 (for general category students). But the selection depends a lot on the interview performance too. So, ask your brother to prepare thoroughly for the interview round.

You can go through the section criteria and the admission procedure of the institute to clear any doubts you may have.

What CAT percentile do I require to get calls from IIM Blackis, FMS, SP Jain, JBIMS and MDI Gurgaon?

For GEM, the CAT percentiles required to get an interview call from IIM Blackis, FMS, SP Jain, JBIMS, and MDI Gurgaon are

ABC and FMS: Both institutes required nothing less than 99.5. Those who get admission at a lesser percentile, usually don’t belong to the GEM category. There are many who don’t even get a call with 99.3. So to stay on the safer side, go for nothing less than 99.5.
IIM Indore and Kozhikode: Both the institutes require percentiles around 97.5 for an interview call
SPJIMR: This Institute has unique selection criteria under which CAT is given less value and calls are issued on the basis of the candidate's profile. The CAT percentile required in this case is less than the normal if you have a good academic profile along with work experience,
MDI: This institute issues calls around the 96% mark.

It’s important to know that these figures are based on trends and not on actual data so you will find exceptions everywhere. Moreover, it’s better you don’t waste time analyzing the CAT cutoff and start preparing for the same.

Is it all right to choose IIM, I or K over XLRI just for the IIM brand?

If you have an admission offer from XLRI, don’t choose IIM I or IIM K. XLRI has a better brand presence than IIM I and IIM K. It is better in terms of academics, faculty, placements, and alumni connections.

It is one of the top B-Schools in the country and ranks right after IIM ABC. So, don’t choose IIM I or IIM K just for the IIM tag.

IIM Kozhikode is one of the best institutes in India. It nurtures young people and prepares them for future endeavors. IIM Kozhikode’s location is what makes it superior. The lush green surroundings add to the already calm ambiance of the campus. Apart from this IIM Kozhikode has many other salient features making it one of the best:

The study material is extensive and mainly based on Harvard's Case studies.
The institution offers research, an executive post-graduate program, an MBA program, and fellow programs.
The faculty is experienced and wise. You can get a lot of help from them.
The quality of food is also good here.
The living conditions of IIM Kozhikode are no joke. With AC rooms and multiple hostel messes, the utmost importance has been given to the student fraternity.
There are snacks and tea stalls throughout the campus.
IIM initiates many cultural activities, such as start-up culture promotion, fests and workshops, student exchange programs, and debates and discussions on management-related subjects.

Let’s say you only require to score 80+ percentile in three sections. Will this stop you from working towards more?

You should always give your best first and then look at the results to find out if that worked or not. Aim high and try to score 99.9+ percentile.

Among these IIM Lucknow PGP ABM is the best option. IIM Lucknow tag offers certain advantages. You will get access to many case studies, a diverse student pool, a huge alumni network, and an ecosystem that fosters learning and excellence.

For the first year, ABM students share classes with PGP students. The curriculum faculty and learning will be the same. For the second year, you can choose some extra subjects according to your interest along with your specializations.

IIM Lucknow offers good placement opportunities to PGP ABM students. Along with FMCG companies, most companies in Consulting, Marketing, Finance, Operations, and HR are open to ABM students. In recent years, IIM Lucknow ABM placements had an average CTC of INR 24-25 LPA.

Which is better: IIM K or NITIE?

Both IIM K and NITIE are renowned institutes and offer the same placement opportunities.

If you take a look from an ROI point of view then NITIE has an upper hand. The fee structure at NITIE is 12.53 lakhs and is half or less than that from IIM K.
NITIE is known for its Operations branch. The majority of SCM Head, VP Operations, Head logistics in industries are a part of the alumni of NITIE.
If you are not interested in Operations then opt for IIM K. It has been ranked above NITIE and if the IIM tag is what that you desire the go for it.

Your decision may be influenced by the distance of these institutions from your hometown, financial background, preference for a particular specialization, and many such factors. Since it is an important decision do not hastily jump to conclusions. Make a wise choice that would benefit you in the future.

Should I join IIM Calcutta or IIM Kozhikode? I am an average student who somehow managed to do well in the CAT and convert both of these but want a fair shot at being in the better half of the batch

Both IIM Calcutta and IIM Kozhikode are top-notch management institutes in India. The majority of people claim that IIMC is better than IIMK just because it has a strong alumni connection and extremely experienced faculty.

But don’t make your decision solely based on this. Keep your aim in mind before deciding.

Choose IIM Calcutta if-

You want your personality to be developed to the maximum extent
You have a knack for Maths and Analytical Skills Development

Choose IIM Kozhikode if-

You want to be in the top 1% of the class
You prefer an institute with less dynamism
If you are average at Maths and Analytical Skills Development

Which IIM should I prefer between Indore and Kozhikode after being a commerce graduate without experience keeping marketing as my priority?

You should prefer IIM Indore if you are considering Sales or Marketing as your career. Here are some of the reasons:

The number of fresher at IIM Indore is higher and this leads to a higher number of companies visiting during placements offering Sales and Marketing roles.
The percentage of students from each batch selected for the Sales and Marketing role is higher.
The average CTC offered is nearly equal in both. IIM Indore wins over by a slight margin with 23.6 LPA while IIMK received 22.5 LPA
IIM Kozhikode is increasing its intake of female candidates and this will bring more recruiters on board because of the additional seats. On the other hand, IIM Indore already has a great number of recruiters.

At last, the final decision should be taken by you and have faith that it will be a good decision. Both the colleges have great campuses. Wherever you go, the hard work and dedication put on will play a major role in getting the dream offer.

Will the new liberal studies and management programme at IIM Kozhikode have good placement assurance?

If you are interested in liberal studies, TISS is the best brand. It is unbeatable in this field. It offers diversified courses such as Rural Development, MSW Social Work, Development Studies, etc. The faculties are great and the student exchange program is so much better.

IIM Kozhikode is a management college where 70% of the students are engineers. You will not benefit by pursuing liberal studies from here. It is suggested if you aim for TISS and prepare for the entrance exam which is the TISS-NET.

In short, for liberal studies and humanities, TISS> IIM K.
