Eligibility Criteria

Aspirants seeking to get admission in a program must have bachelor degree in a relevant stream.

Course Details

The university offers a full-time MBA program in two specializations, namely - International Business and Hospitality & Tourism.

The basic eligibility is a pass in graduation degree with at least 50% marks in aggregate or any other equivalent examination.

Selection of the candidates is based on valid CAT/AIMA-MAT or CMAT score. Apart from the entrance score, candidates’ academic record followed by Group Discussion and performance in Personal Interview is also considered at the time of admission.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must have scored 50% marks in aggregate under any stream in graduation.

Selection Criteria

Selection will be based on CAT/MAT/CMAT score followed by merit in the qualifying exam, Group Discussion and Personal Interview.

  • Total 30 seats are available for MBA (IB) program.
  • Candidates who have passed ICAI or ICSI are also eligible to apply for admission.
  • Those who have appeared in AIME (Engineering) with 50% marks (40% marks for SC/ST) are also eligible to apply.
  • Application forms for MBA programs can be obtained from the office of SHTM against the cash payment or Demand Draft of INR 800.
  • 20 seats are available under the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management. Open merit has 67% seats and the rest of the seats are for reserved categories.

I have a few friends from Jammu University and according to them the process to get transcripts from the university is quite simple. 

  • You will need to visit the administration block of Jammu University. 
  • Get the form and fill out the details of the degree for which you want transcripts.
  • Attach proof of passing the said degree from Jammu University. It needs to be duly attested by your departmental head.
  • Submit the required fee.
  • Give the details of the agency or the institute where you want to send your transcripts clearly and you are done. 

Your transcripts should be ready to dispatch within 15 days or so, depending on the pending work.

A few of my friends graduated from the University of Jammu. Here is their advice. 

  • Get to know your university area well, your classrooms, your libraries, etc. Dhanvantri library is quite famous. 
  • Attend your classes regularly. Jammu University is quite strict about attendance, results, etc. So, make sure you start focusing on your studying from the beginning of your course.
  • The faculties and the staff at the university are quite cooperative. 
  • Have proper strategy and timetable from the very beginning, if you want to score well in examinations.

Here are some possible reasons that can be ascribed to the lower rank of Jammu University. 

  • The quality of education offered by the university needs improvement. 
  • The university needs to provide proper guidance and counseling to students regarding placements and internships. 
  • Lake of proper administration is another contributing factor. 
  • Kashmir University has a better faculty base compared to Jammu University. 

These are the major reasons why Jammu University falls behind Kashmir University.

There are a lot of things that you can do at Jammu University during weekends. 

  • If you stay on the university campus, you can take membership and permission to access courts and games at the university stadium.
  • Most students prefer to study at the central library of Jammu.
  • You can visit the nearest tourist places like Mansar Surinsar Lakes, Mata Vaishno Devi Temple, Shiv Khori in Reasi district, Gharana wetland at RS Pura, etc. 
  • If you love movies, there are multiplexes within a 4-5 km radius of the university.

It entirely depends on which course you are choosing. However, overall DU is definitely better than PU and Jammu University.

The academics and faculty base are almost the same at these universities. However, academics are not the only influencing factor in the overall development of students. Curriculum, exposure, and other additional things also play crucial roles.  

At DU, you will have great exposure. DU has many societies like dance society, fashion society, debating society, etc. If you have any passion, you can explore it at DU.  The peer group at DU is also better. 

If we speak generally, for the given institutes, your preference order should be DU>PU>Jammu University.
