Apart from regular branch courses, a student has to complete 4 HSS (Humanities and Social Sciences) courses, 2 (BS) Basic Science courses, and 4 open electives (which may or may not be related to your branch) during his/her end of the B.tech program. One can do a minor in any branch by completing a fixed number of courses. His /her 4 open electives can be counted for a minor degree as well.
