I am getting IT branch in NIT Surathkal and CS branch in IIIT Bangalore, which one should I opt?

However, CS at IIIT Bangalore and IT at NIT Surathkal has comparable curriculums, and you can expect to learn programming languages, algorithms, databases, networking, software engineering, and more.
Let's take a look at the current placement statistics of both colleges in their CS branch:
- IIIT Bangalore: The average placement package for the CS branch is around 13 lakhs per annum, with top recruiters including Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Flipkart, and more. The highest package offered is around 50 lakhs per annum. The placement rate is around 95%, and most students get placed within the first few days of the placement season.
- NIT Surathkal: The average placement package for the IT branch is around 8-9 lakhs per annum, while the CS branch has a slightly higher average package of around 10-11 lakhs per annum. Among CS in IIIT Bangalore and IT in NIT Surathkal, IIIT Bangalore is the better choice, considering the placement statistics such as average and highest package offered in the institute. I have a few friends at IIIT B and they vouch for the institute. Here is why you should choose IIIT Bangalore.
- In the year 2019, the overall average package offered to students in integrated M.Tech, M.Tech, and MS was Rs. 17 LPA. Even, the maximum domestic package offered to students was Rs. 54 LPA, which is excellent. The median package cumulatively was Rs. 15 LPA.
- If only integrated M.Tech students are considered in IIIT Bangalore, the average and median package are even higher than Rs. 17 and Rs. 15 LPA. In recent years, these packages have increased too.
- The condition of faculty and curriculum is much better at IIIT Bangalore. Even there is more provision for research at IIIT Bangalore, than in NIT Surathkal.
- The location of IIIT Bangalore is much better than that of NIT Surathkal. It is located in the heart of the Electronic City of Bangalore, surrounded by IT firms all around.
- Along with a lot of advantages, there a few shortcomings of IIIT Bangalore. You will need to work very hard in the institute, in order to score well. The sports, fest, and other extracurricular activities are not that developed in IIIT Bangalore.
- The campus of IIIT Bangalore is small but that is enough considering the small number of intakes in the institute.
Therefore, considering the factors stated above, CS at IIIT Bangalore is definitely a better choice for students.
