JEE Main will be conducted from July 18 - July 23, 2020, the fresh dates were announced by union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on May 5, 2020 during a webinar. The exam will be conducted in multiple sessions on July 18, 20, 21, 22, 23 as per the announcement. 

The education minister also announced the new date for the medical entrance exam NEET 2020, it will be held on July 26, 2020. Considering the postponement of JEE Main 2020 for the coming session, JEE Advanced will now be conducted in August, NTA shall soon release official notices regarding the exam dates on its official website i.e. nta.ac.in. 

Over 16 lakh students will appear in NEET and around 9 lakh students will appear for JEE Main as per the national testing agency. The students are advised to proceed with self-study through online portals of SWAYAM and SWAYAM Prabha TV. The relevant content will be telecasted on swayam prabha TV in the areas that have low connectivity so that the students in rural areas can prepare.

JEE Main and NEET Syllabus for 2021 Reduced

The syllabus for JEE Main 2021 will be reduced as the courses will commence late this year. Due to the outbreak of coronavirus, the sessions in every college could not start as per the usual yearly schedule. As the classes will start late the syllabus for the next year has been reduced because the students could not study properly as most of the valuable time was wasted during the lockdown period. Considering this loss of time the syllabus for JEE Main and NEET has been curtailed for the next year. The college exams for the current academic year are likely to be scheduled for July 1 and the results for the same will be announced by the end of July so that new academic sessions could be started from August 2020.

Online Preparation Mediums

• The students are directed to proceed with their self-studies with online portals that have been made available by the government. 

• Over 200 contents are available at online platform SWAYAM and SWAYAM Prabha. 

• Digital library is also available for the students. The students who belong to rural areas can learn from these portals as the school and college course has been added to it. 

• Also, the education minister advised the candidates to prepare with Diksha Portal. Diksha portal includes the contents for various examinations in multiple languages. It also has the national repository from open universities.

JEE Main and NEET Syllabus for 2021 Reduced

The state and central education boards have been asked to curtail the syllabus for upcoming academic sessions as the classes will commence late this year. The syllabus has been reduced because the students would not get enough time to complete the whole syllabus because the studies have been affected due to the lockdown and valuable time wasted in this period.

JEE Main Form Correction Window Extended:

The last date of form correction for JEE Main 2020 and NEET 2020 will be extended by the NTA. The candidate will now be able to change the examination center and they can select the center of their choice so that the travelling could be made easier. This was done mainly to minimise any type of commute for the candidates or their parents while going to take the examination.

College Level Exams to be held from July 1

The college level exams will be scheduled from July 1, 2020 and the result will be announced by the end of July so that new academic year can be started from the first week of August. However, if the condition will not improve in a particular area then the colleges have to promote the students on the basis of the marks scored previously in the internal examinations.

Preparations Tips Suggested by Education Minister

While addressing the students the education minister suggested some important tips for the preparation of JEE Main and NEET 2020:

• Go through the NCERT books again

• Utilise maximum time to study and stay away from social media

• Take mock tests regularly.

• Choose a separate place to study peacefully.

• Make a schedule for everyday

• Go through youtube and online classes to solve doubts and queries

• Don’t take unnecessary stress and always take short breaks 

• Stay in touch with seniors and ask them to suggest the beneficial things

• Stay away from television and watch only relevant and important things to stay informed
