January 9, 2020 was the last day for JEE Main 2020 January session, morning shift B.E/ B. Tech paper was successfully conducted between 9.30 AM to 12.30 PM.
B.E/ B.Tech paper on January 9, 2020 afternoon session was the last paper of January 2020 session. In terms of level of difficulty, the afternoon paper was similar to the same day morning shift paper, with physics being the toughest section.
Numerical value-based questions were conceptual and easy to solve, if candidates had a clear conceptual base. Most asked questions in mathematics were from Vector, 3D, Probability, AP etc.
Despite the Bharat Bandh strike, B.E/ B.Tech paper on January 8, 2020 was conducted as per the schedule. Question paper was seen as of moderate difficulty level with mathematics being the most time consuming section.
JEE Main afternoon shift on January 8, 2020 was conducted as per schedule between 2.30 PM to 5.30 PM. Paper Analysis for the same is as follows:
Numerical Value based questions were overall easy in terms of level of difficulty.
JEE Main 2020 January Session commenced on January 6, 2020. B.E/B. Tech papers were scheduled for January 7-9, 2020. Morning shift on January 7 concluded between 9.30 PM to 12.30 PM. B.E/ B. Tech paper was divided into three sections i.e. Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
Some candidates found maths and others found physics to be the toughest.
The timings for the afternoon shift were 2.30 PM to 5.30 PM. B.E/ B. Tech paper was again described as easier when compared with the previous year JEE Main Question Papers.
Class XI and XII syllabus were distributed in a balanced way across the paper. However, mathematics section had more questions from Class XII syllabus with 3-4 questions from integrations which were all quite easy to attempt. Probability questions in maths were also easy.
Numerical value-based questions were tough for physics and easy for chemistry. But it got challenging to attempt these questions in mathematics as the section was lengthy and therefore time-consuming.
The morning shift of JEE Main 2020 January session successfully commenced on January 6, 2020. 1,38,409 and 59,003 had registered for B. Arch and B. Planning papers respectively. B.Arch and B. Planning papers were conducted in two shifts on January 6, 2020. As per the initial reactions of the candidates, mathematics section was found to be the toughest. Detailed JEE Main Paper Analysis is as follows:
JEE Main B. Arch Paper Mathematics
Candidates found the mathematics section to be high in terms of difficulty level. Questions were asked from both, maths syllabus of XI and XII. However, as per a lot of test takers, there was more weightage to class XI syllabus in mathematics. Most asked topics were from 3D coordinate geometry, distance, etc. There were fewer questions from integration and differentiation.
JEE Main B. Arch Paper Drawing
Candidates had to answer 2 questions in the drawing section. The second question had 3 choices out of which, one had to be attempted by the candidate. Questions were based on topics like cylinder, school playground, gymnast, grandparents' face etc. Overall the drawing section was found to be difficult by most of the test takers.
JEE Main B. Arch Aptitude
In comparison to the mathematics and drawing sections, aptitude section was found to be comparatively easier by the test takers. Mirror image, 3D figures were some of the asked topics. Some specific questions from the Aptitude section were regarding the location of the Konark temple, correct size of a door, texture of a mirror etc.
As expected, candidates found the mathematics section to be the toughest. Planning section was introduced for the first time and a majority of candidates found it easy.
Every year, the cut-off for JEE Main differs. In 2021, the cut-off is expected to differ from that of previous years. The cut-off mainly depends on the overall percentile, the difficulty level of the questions and the number of candidates appearing for the examination. The official cut-off scores are released on the day of the result. The expected cut-off for JEE Main 2021 has been mentioned below:
Category | Cut Off |
---|---|
General | 88-91 |
GEN- EWS | 77-80 |
OBC – NCL | 73-76 |
Scheduled Caste (SC) | 53-56 |
Scheduled tribes (ST) | 43-46 |
PWD | 0-1 |
JEE Main results will be released separately for the two sessions. The results can be downloaded from the official website.
The results will display the marks and not the ranks secured by the students. All the marks obtained by the students will be converted to NTA Score. The result will show the NTA scores obtained by the students.
For B.E/B.Tech, the result will have the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics individually and also the total score.
For B.Arch. students, the result will show marks obtained in Mathematics, Aptitude Test and Planning along with the total score obtained.
For B.Planning students, the result will display marks obtained in Mathematics, Aptitude Test and Drawing and the total score obtained
The counselling process will begin soon after the results are declared. There will be three process of counseling:
JoSSA Counselling: This is mainly for the IITs, IIITs, NITs and various other Government Funded Technical Institutes.
CSAB NEUT: This counselling is for the AICTE approved institutes in India which are not under the control CSAB for the North Eastern States & Union Territories (NEUT).
CSAB SFTI: This counselling process is meant for the Self-Funded Technical Institutes.
Admission to NITs, IITs and CFTIs: The admission to these colleges will be entirely based on the All India Rank secured by the candidate. Along with that, the student must have secured at least 75% in 12th or equivalent examination. For SC/ ST candidates, the minimum percentage required is 65%.
Admission to B.Arch: The candidate must secure 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and must have minimum 50% marks in the 12th or qualifying examination.
Admission to B.Planning: The candidate must secure 50% marks in Mathematics and have minimum 50% marks in the 12th or qualifying examination.
