MBA Colleges in India through CAT with Fees Under 1 Lakh

An MBA is a gateway to many opportunities - financial security, reputation, excellent career opportunities and so on. However, sometimes it becomes a difficult dream due to several reasons. Several aspirants have to compromise on their dreams due to the severe competition, and the very high amounts of fees they have to pay upfront in many of the colleges. However, it is not always necessary that all the good colleges are out of reach of the CAT Aspirants who are financially struggling. With CAT 2021 just around the corner (November 28, 2021),  every candidate should check their options for further education. 

Here is a list of the institutions that offer the program with fees less than 1 lakh for the complete MBA course. Read the entire article to know more details.

FMS New Delhi: Faculty of Management Studies

One of the best colleges to pursue MBA apart from IIMs is FMS New Delhi. As per the latest news moving round the corner, FMS has diverged from its old path by bringing a fee hike for MBA programs. Earlier, FMS used to be one of the few top B-schools to provide affordable management programs. The fee rose to Rs.48,000/- per semester (1.92 lakhs for full two-year program) from Rs. 22,000/- for two years from 2020 onwards.

• The total number of MBA is 287.
• At the time of shortlisting, women candidates will be awarded additional 3 points in their composite score.

FMS Fees

While applying for MBA admission at FMS New Delhi, a candidate will have to bear the application fee, which s/he will have to pay online before the last date of registration. The following table provides details of fee payable at different stages by candidates belonging to different categories.

Note: The fee applies to all candidates except those belonging to PWD Category. Candidates belonging to PWD category will have to pay only admission fee and identity card fee. Thus, the total fee structure sums up to Rs. 1.92 lakhs. Besides this, there are various societies functioning in FMS under the registered body MSA (Management of Science Association) who may charge fees (variable) for conducting student activities.

Delhi School of Economics (DSE)-Delhi University

The Department of Commerce, Delhi School of Economics Also has one of the best MBA courses in India, which excellent placement statistics, education quality and other factors you might pay consider while applying. Candidates applying to MBA (HRD) and MBA (IB) need to pay the required fee online at the Department's website.

Course Fee Rs 15,696/-

The admission criteria for MBA (HRD) and MBA (IB) has not been released. Yet we can make an analysis by previous year trends. The total number of seats for both programs were 75 (62 +13) for each program.

DSE Seat Allotment

The segregation of 62 seats category-wise goes like this:

• General -31
• OBC -17
• SC - 09
• ST - 05

• PWD-04
• CW-03
• FS Seats-06

DSE Fees

For the 2021-23 batch, the fee structure has not been revealed by DSE. However, the institute is considered to be one of the most prestigious B-schools among all the top MBA colleges in India. Expected fee for 2021 is Rs. 18,000 for one year. The payment of the fee has to be made at the department office and is non-refundable in any scenario.

University School of Management Studies, IP University

USMS- GGSIPU, Delhi offers MBA and MBA (IT) programs. The total seat intake is 120 for MBA and 60 for MBA (IT). The institute is well known to offer one of the sought after management programs with the low fee structure.

• The academic fee for MBA is Rs. 56,000 for two years (fee is under revision).
• Post revision, the fee may rise up to Rs. 68,000; still much lower than other MBA colleges.

There are certain colleges like Christ University Bangalore, Department of Management Studies, Pune and Tata Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai which have more or less similar fee structure-revolving around 3 to 4 lakh per annum. 

Candidates who make through CAT should pin down their colleges based on factors like future opportunities, placement record of the college, ranking and accreditation, return on investment and most importantly whether the college fits in their budget or not. Spending a lot on gaining a degree and not getting much out of it is a waste of time and resources.
