GD: Group Discussion

  • A group of 8–10 candidates is created for the group discussion (GD) and is assigned a topic.
  • This round usually lasts for 20 to 30 minutes on average.
  • After the topic is revealed, candidates are given some time to consider it beforehand, and participants then politely discuss the same to get to a successful conclusion.

WAT: Writing Ability Test

  • The WAT round, in which candidates are assigned a topic to write on, is quite similar to the essay writing portion.
  • Depending on the institute for which they are applying, candidates are given between 15 and 30 minutes to complete the offline, pen-and-paper-based round.
  • Candidates are given a word restriction of 200 to 400 words as well as a predetermined schedule.
