NTPC School of Business (NSB) is an AICTE approved, an extended section of NTPC, which offers Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) Executive program. Students, especially the working professionals, can obtain the PGDM degree with a specialization in Energy Management. Academic support is provided by IIM Ahmedabad (IIMA).

Admissions to the PGDM courses are done through different National Level Entrance examinations like CAT/GMAT/XAT followed by personal interviews. The applicants’ academic performance and work experience are also considered at the time of admission.

NTPC School of Business Selection Process

The selection process mainly focuses on the marks obtained in the Bachelor's degree programs. Selection to PGDM in Energy Management is done on the basis of Admission Score (AS) and Personal Assessment (PA) whereas selection to PGDM Executive is done on the basis of CAT/GMAT score for the Self-Sponsored candidates or, Admission Test is conducted by NSB/IIM-A followed by a Personal Interview.

The applicants are required to possess Bachelor’s degree (BE/ B.Tech/ B.Sc. / B.Com/ CA/ ICWA/ equivalent) with at least 50% marks or CGPA awarded by any recognized institute or university. A relaxation of 5% is given for the candidates under the categories of SC/ST/DA/PWD, who are applying for the PGDM in Energy Management programs.

The selection process for the courses is as listed below:

All the shortlisted candidates are notified and called for the Personal Interview section.

An overview of the admission test

  • The Admission Test is only for the applicants who do not have the CAT/GMAT/XAT scores or who have failed to obtain the required cut off in these entrance exams.
  • The duration of the test will be 120 minutes
  • The pattern of question is as follow:

Important Points

  • Candidates appearing for the last year of the Bachelor’s degree or equivalent programs and those who are waiting for their results are considered to be eligible for applying for the PGDM Energy Management programs
  • Obtaining a minimum of 50% marks in the Bachelor’s degree or equivalent programs is mandatory for the general candidates for applying
  • Candidates belonging to the SC/ST/PWD categories will be considered eligible for applying if they obtain 45% marks in the same
  • To apply for the PGDM executive program, candidates who do not possess the CAT/GMAT/XAT scores, are required to appear for the Online Written Examination
  • These candidates will be provided with the Admission score (AS) on the basis of their performance in the online test, performance in the Bachelor’s degree or equivalent programs, experience in the energy/power/oil related area and educational background
  • All the applicants are required to pay the application fee of INR 500 via net banking at the time of application
