IIM Sambalpur Selection Criteria

Students who have applied to IIM Sambalpur at the time of CAT Registration and meet the cut-offs will receive an email from IIM Sambalpur. These candidates will be provided with a link to a page where they must express and reconfirm their desire to pursue their candidature further for the admission to PGP in management at “IIM Sambalpur” by a specific date.

After meeting CAT Cut Off, the next stage in IIM Sambalpur Selection process is a criterion for final selection. In this stage following factors will be considered:

  • CAT Test Performance Score- 55%
  • Personal Appearance Process (PAP)- 20% (Written Analysis- 5%, Personal Interview- 15%)
  • Profile- 25% (Academic Profile- 5%, Work Experience- 10%, Diversity- 10%)

Calculating CAT Test Performance Score

Following calculation is done on the basis of applicants’ CAT performance (percentile obtained in sections 1&2, where section 1 was QA & DI and section 2 was VA & LR).

Performance in the two sections of CAT will comprise 55% of the final score of the candidate. This 55% consists of 30% for VAP and 25% for QAP

Where,

VAP = VA percentile of the applicant/ Maximum VA percentile

QAP = QA percentile of the applicant/ Maximum QA percentile

Calculation of Past Academic Performance

Applicants’ academic performance (marks obtained) in 10th Standard Examination, 12th Standard Examination, and Bachelor’s Degree Examination is considered in PAP Score.

  • For 10th and 12th Standards: The eligible students will be assigned rating scores ‘A’ and ‘B’ based on their percentage of marks obtained in 10th and 12th standard examinations respectively.
  • For Bachelor’s Degree: The eligible students will be assigned a rating score ‘C’ based on the percentage of marks received in the Bachelor’s degree.

Following table shows the calculation of these three scores i.e. A, B & C

The final Past Academic Performance (PAP) Score will be calculated using the following formula:

PAP = (0.30 * A + 0.35 * B + 0.35 * C)/10

Work Experience Score will be calculated or assigned on the basis of a number of months of work experience.

WE = 0 for w <= 6

WE = 0 for w > 48

WE = w/24 for 6 < w <= 24

WE = 1 – ((w-24)/24) for 24 < w <= 48

Where ‘w’ is the number of completed months of work experience.

The selection at final stage will be based on the ranks computed for each category (General/SC/ST/NC-OBC/PWD) on the basis of their Final Scores (FS).
