Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode (IIM-K) has released final PGP shortlist on May 13, 2020. Written ability test and personal interview for PGP Finance and Liberal Studies was conducted in online mode keeping in view COVID-10 pandemic and consequent lockdown across the nation.  Admission Process for PGP-BL for batch 2 and phase 2 is under process since May 1, candidates can apply for the same till July 31, 2020.  IIM-K admission criteria is a three step process for all management courses. Candidates are shortlisted on the basis of CAT Cutoff and academic records. IIM-K does not hold interview rounds unlike other management institutes.

  • CAT 2019 Result was declared on January 4, 2020. Shortlist for WAT-PI rounds was released right after CAT Results were declared on January 7, 2020.
  • For a total number of 480 seats 1200 candidates were shortlisted. Candidates who registered successfully online for admissions in IIM-K were considered for Stage-2 process.
  • Considerable changes were made in shortlisting criteria of IIM-K. Weightage of CAT score was reduced to 45% from 75%. Importance of diversity on the basis of stream and gender was focussed keeping in line with other IIMs.
  • A drop of 5 Percentile in the qualifying cut off for CAT 2019 in comparison to last year.

IIM Kozhikode Admission Criteria and Selection Process

A three-staged selection procedure has been adopted by IIM-K for 2020-2022 PGP admissions. The detailed information on all the stages is below:

Stage-1: Minimum Eligibility Criteria & Registration Process

  • This criteria will be applied for those candidates who have opted for IIM Kozhikode. 
  • Candidates should secure positive (greater than zero) raw marks in all the sections of CAT 2019
  • The candidates fulfilling the below-mentioned criteria will receive an email for online registrations for admission in IIM-K
  • This stage is just a pre-interview registration process and not a call for WAT & PI
  • Only after successful online registration candidates will be considered for Stage-2

*The percentage of marks obtained in Class X and Class XII would be calculated based on the aggregate marks of all subjects that are there in the mark sheet or grade sheet.

Stage-2: Shortlisting Criteria for Writing Ability Test (WAT) & Personal Interview (PI)

  • In this step only those candidates are allowed who have successfully completed the registration process in Stage-1 for admission in IIM-K.
  • Students will be shortlisted for WAT & PI based on below-mentioned criteria.
  • Category wise list of shortlisted candidates will be released later, based on the Aggregate Index Score (AIS).
  • Candidates can visit the official website www.iimk.ac.in to download the interview letters and venue details, which will be available around the last week of January 2020.

Stage-3: Final Shortlist

  • Shortlisted candidates based on AIS will be called for WAT and PI.
  • IIM-K will conduct WAT and PI in Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Mumbai and New Delhi.
  • In the final round, candidates have to write an essay followed by a Personal Interview.
  • The resume score is also given importance and will be given marks based on the quality of work experience of each candidate.
  • In the end, a category wise merit list will be prepared based on the final results of the Stage-3.

  • After the final score computation students in the merit list will receive an admission offer from IIM-K.
  • Students have to accept the offer within the mentioned date and need to send an amount of Rs. 75,000/, along with the offer acceptance. 
  • The candidate will have to register on the registration day for the PGP and pay the remaining fees to complete the admission process.

  • Candidates who have applied for CAT 2019 are eligible to apply for PGP in IIM Kozhikode.
  • During the time of CAT registration students have to select IIM Kozhikode as one of the desired choices, if not then they will not be eligible for admission in this college.
  • There is no need to pay any additional fees.

IIM-K PGP Course Fee Structure

  • Current Annual fee for PGP is INR 8,75,000/-
  • The fee structure could be revised for 2020-2022 batch.
  • The fee includes tuition fees, course study material, and lodging.
  • Annual fees do not cover the personal expenses of a student.

IIM-K Scholarship Offered 

  • Scholarship is awarded to the students of the first and second year based on their CGPA.

  • IIM-K Need based Scholarship is also awarded to the eligible students.

  • Central Sector Scholarship to SC/ST students and Merit-cum-Means Scholarship is also awarded to the students belonging to the minority communities. 

  • In addition, other scholarships are also offered like NTPC, Sir Ratan Tata Trust, Aditya Birla Group, OPJEMS, Pratibha Scholarship, etc.

IIM-K Reservation Criteria

  • IIM-K follows the Government of India reservation policy for admission to Central Educational Institutions (CEIs).
  • No change in the category will be entertained after CAT result. The category mentioned during the CAT 2019 form registration will be considered final.

IIM-K Admissions Process for Foreign Students

International candidates could be Indian Nationals or Foreign Nationals with a valid passport residing outside India or not in the condition to take CAT. For these candidates criteria for taking admission in IIM-K is different. The candidate should be residing outside India for a period of not less than 18 months as of December 31, 2019. The candidate should also produce a certificate from the embassy of the country in which he is currently residing. 

Eligibility Criteria 

  • Undergraduate or higher with a minimum of 3 years course attended at some university with a major.
  • 50% marks or equivalent GPA.
  • A valid GMAT score (total scaled score of at least 700) 
  • A completed admission application form + 3 reference/recommendation letters.
  • Foreigners from Non-English speaking country TOFEL is compulsory.
  • The candidate has to appear for Personal Interview, which is part of the selection procedure.

Application and Fee Structure for International Candidates

International candidates can download the forms from here, Application Form. Complete the application form along with the other documents and bank draft for US $100 in favor of “Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode” should reach IIM-K latest by February 10, 2020.

Candidates should route their application through the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.

Shortlisted candidates will be called for PI before April 15, 2020 and the final results will be declared by April 30, 2020.

The current annual fees for Foreign Candidates US $15000 and could be revised for 2020-2022 batch. The fee includes tuition fees, course study material, boarding, and lodging. It does not include the personal expenses of students.

Executive Post Graduate Program (EPGP) at IIM Kozhikode

EPGP program offered at IIM-K is the best option for working professionals and for the executives who want to enhance their skills or strategies so that they can take their organization to new heights.

  • IIM-K had adopted EPGP program in the year 2001.
  • Participants/students can choose the classroom centers based on their city or workplace.

IIM Ahmedabad v/s IIM Kozhikode Admission Through CAT

The admission criteria and selection procedure of IIM Ahmedabad is little different from IIM Kozhikode. Some of the major differences in the admission process are listed below.

  • Students have to fulfill the criteria of minimum cut-offs in the sectional percentile ranks, the overall percentile rank and obtaining a positive raw score (greater than zero) in all the sections of CAT 2019.
  • The application rating “AR” score will be used. AR is the sum of “A, B, C, D” based on the marks obtained in 10th, 12th (depending on the stream), bachelors degree and work experience respectively.
  • Candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria will be shortlisted for the Analytical Writing Test (AWT) and Personal Interview (PI).
  • In the final round, a merit will be created based on the Final Composite Score (FCS)

Fee structure of IIM-A

  • The total fees payable by PGP students is INR 23,00,000/- which includes the tuition fees of INR 16,99,000/-
  • The fee structure does not include the personal expenses of a student.

Scholarship/Financial Assistance offered at IIM-A

  • IIM-A offers the Need-Based Scholarship to the eligible students.
  • The amount of the scholarship is decided based on different criteria like annual family income, ownership of the assets, number of dependents in the family.
  • Students can fill the scholarship application in the month of July/August.

Each IIM has a different selection and admission criteria. From minimum eligibility to WAT, PI and final round, in the merit lists of all the rounds of different IIMs, we can observe variations. The required number of admissions offers will be given in the order of merit, following the Government of India reservation policy and a limited number of candidates will be kept on the waiting list.
