Summer Placement Highlights

Summer placements for the PGP 2018-20 batch were successfully conducted from October 23- 27, 2018. 119 companies participated in the overall process and generated 442 offers for the prospective candidates. Out of those offers, 442 were accepted and 01 candidate opted out of the process. 

• Consulting recruited the highest number of total candidates with 28% of the students choosing the management consulting sector
• The roles included commercial banking, product management, leadership, operations, category management, general management, strategy consulting, niche consulting, business analytics, investment banking, capital markets, and corporate finance. 
• There were significant offers from the e-commerce sector as well as the marketing and sales sector.
• Admission into IIM Calcutta is done through percentile ranks and scores attained by a candidate in CAT 2019 or through other national exams such as GMAT / GRE / NET. GMAT scores are accepted for NRI students.

Final Placement Highlights

IIM Bangalore completed its PGP 2019 Placements in the beginning of this year. As expected, the placement rounds were successful as the candidates flourished in front of the recruiters. The final placements took place from December and lasted till February and mainly focused on two main recruitment formats: 

• Entry level full time positions 
• Lateral positions for candidates with extensive work experience

Sector-wise Breakup for Summer Placements

• Consulting dominated the summer placement recruitments and garnered over a fourth of the total summer placements in 2018. 
• Two other major contenders included the marketing and sales sector as well as the e-commerce sector which took up 17% of the placements respectively. 
• There has been a significant rise in the e-commerce sector in the last couple of years as more companies from that sector have participated in the recruitment process.

Final Placements

The PGP 2017-19 batch showcased a range of diverse candidates and a myriad of talent within its candidates. It had a mixture of students who had an extensive work experience prior to their admission while others were fresher students.

• Around half of the batch was between the ages of 23 to 25
• Close to 40% of the students were above 26 years of age and had over 2 years of work experience under their belts
• 488 offers were made to a batch of 411 students by 119 companies 
• 170 Pre Placement offers were made out of which 125 were accepted 
• 142 Lateral Placement offers were made out of which 110 were accepted 
• There were 15 overseas offers 

• Average Salary for the  PGP 2017-2019 batch was INR 23 LPA while the average domestic salary was INR 24.54 LPA 
• Average International salary was estimated to be INR 62.30 LPA while median salary was estimated to be INR 62 LPA
• Around 88% of the students were from an engineering background, 6% were from commerce and the rest were from science or other miscellaneous fields. 
• Majority of the candidates had close to 22-34 months of prior work experience, while 30% had over 35 months of experience and 20% of the batch were freshers.
