After the declaration of CAT 2019 result, all the participating institutes will release their separate cut off list. Candidates who will score equal or more than CAT cut off marks will be eligible to apply for their desired institute. CAT cut off is determined on the basis of various factors such as the number of candidates appeared for exam, difficulty level of the paper, number of qualified candidates and previous year cut off trends.

  • CAT 2019 will be held on November 24, 2019  at various exam centers. The result for CAT 2019 will be announced in the first week of January 2020. 
  • CAT Registration has commenced on August 7, 2019 in online mode. 
  • Candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree with at least 50% marks can register at the official website i.e. iimcat.ac.in till September 18, 2019.

According to the experts, the overall CAT cutoff is expected to be higher than last year. While Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning will have the lowest sectional cutoff, Quantitative Ability cutoff have the highest one. VARC sectional cutoff will be similar to that of last year.

However, the actual CAT Cut off will depend on various factors such as difficulty level of exam, number of test takers and the number of seats.

IIMs will release the scaled scores in order to meet the CAT normalization process which is to ensure that the scores of both sessions' test takers are equated since CAT is conducted in two slots. IIMs normalize the CAT scores using a formula similar to that of GATE. At the time of result, scaled scores for each section along with percentiles will be announced.

The cutoff ranges between 85-99 percentiles and above for the top B-schools in India accepting CAT scores after which the next round of CAT selection procedure including Writing Ability Test (WAT) or Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds will be conducted.
