CAT 2020 result will be declared tentatively on January 5, 2021. Applicants must qualify the sectional as well as the overall cutoff to get shortlisted for the next round of the selection process – WAT-GD/PI. CAT cutoff is released every year after the exam. Cutoff refers to the minimum percentile which a candidate must score in order to qualify for the selection process. Various factors determine CAT Cut off, such as level of difficulty of the exam, total available seats, number of applicants, and ranking of that institute.

All IIMs and participating colleges have different cutoffs which will be declared on their respective websites.
Apart from percentile (or overall cutoff), there are sectional cutoff for each B school. Candidates who fail to clear the sectional cutoff scores will not be qualified.
Shortlisted candidates will participate in the CAT Selection Procedure that will begin in February 2021.
CAT exam is taken by the candidates who wish to secure admission into IIMs or several other prestigious B-schools of India. 20 IIMs and more than 100 B-schools accept CAT Score.

The CAT exam had around 36-28 TITA questions in 2017. QA and VARC sections were comparatively easier than the DILR section. An overall attempt of 65 questions with an accuracy of 80-85 % was considered a nice attempt.
The DILR section was for CAT 2016 was a bit easier in terms of the amount of calculation or logic. However, it was certainly lengthy and more time to consume. VARC, the first section in CAT 2016 paper had 5 passages of RC for 24 Questions overall. It was a pleasant surprise as the RC passages were not very long and quite a few questions were direct.
In CAT 2015, Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation were combined to make one separate section. The questions in the logical reasoning section are asked mainly from Seating Arrangement, Blood Relations, Syllogism, Venn diagram, Propositions, Data Arrangement, Puzzles, Assumptions, Statements, Clocks and Calendars, Sets, etc. In CAT 2015, this section consisted of 32 questions.
For the Quantitative Aptitude section, the minimum percentile for CAT 2015 as well as CAT 2016 cut off was 80. But CAT cut off for IIM Ahmedabad was decreased by 10 in the year 2016.
For the Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation section, the cut off for 2016 all the IIMs was 80 for a majority of IIMs. For IIM Ahmedabad it was 70 for the General category. CAT cut off 2016 was greater than the previous year.
For Verbal and Reading Comprehension, CAT cut off 2016 as well as CAT cut off 2015 was a minimum of 80 for a majority of IIMs for the General category.
After CAT Cut off has been declared, the CAT Composite score shortlists the candidates for admission to any IIM. CAT composite score is calculated on the basis of CAT Score, WAT/GD/PI, work experience, and academic record.
