The candidates interested in pursuing PGDM from CBS, Kolkata must have done graduation from a recognised University with minimum 50% marks.
Note that candidates appearing in final year of graduation can also apply.
The candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of entrance exam’s score. The shortlisted candidates are then called for Group discussion and Personal Interview rounds. The admissions are granted purely on the basis of merit list. The GD and PI round is conducted by Calcutta Business School only. The top scorer in the entrance exam are also granted scholarships.
Written Ability Test is designed to test a candidate’s critical thinking ability, and their ability to formulate and communicate their thoughts clearly. As part of A candidate must practice essay writing beforehand to score good marks in WAT. While structure is important, since time is limited, a student must not spend too much time in planning the structure of the essay. A candidate must try to put in as many clear ideas in their essay as possible.
Written Ability Test, a student will have to write an essay on a given topic. The topics for essay writing can be from a variety of domains such as current affairs, government policies, topics of social importance, trade and commerce etc.
In Group Discussion round, a group generally consists of 8-10 candidates and is given one topic for discussion. In this round a candidate’s ability to communicate their idea clearly to a group is assessed. It also helps shortlist candidates who can understand group dynamics and are good team players.
The topics for group discussion, again, can be varied. The topics may range from National and International Politics, Current Affairs, topics of social importance, Government policies etc.
Personal Interview is a crucial component of selection procedure for CBS, West Bengal. Each IIM compulsorily holds a Personal Interview round for selection of candidates.
