Sri Manakula Vinayagar Engineering College is a reputed engineering college located in Pondicherry, India. It is affiliated to Pondicherry University and was established in 1999. It offers various courses which include B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA , MCA, B.Arch. and Ph.D.. Admissions here also happen through management quota.

Admission to B.Tech happens on the basis of CENTAC Counselling. To be eligible, the candidate must have passed 10+2 with a minimum of 45% marks. To get admission under management quota, candidates need to appear for CETPPMC.

For admission to B.Arch., the candidate must have passed an examination at the end of a 10+2 scheme of examination or 10+3 diploma with mathematics and 50% aggregate marks. The candidate must clear NATA OR JEE Paper II.

For admission to M.Tech, candidates will be selected on the basis of GATE score. To get admission under Management quota, candidates need to appear for PGCET.

Admissions to MBA and MCA happen through CENTAC PG Counselling.

For admission to Ph.D., the candidate must hold a B.E./B.Tech. Degree and M.E./M.Tech. Degree in Mechanical Engineering Or a Master’s degree with a minimum of 55 % marks. For selection, the candidates need to appear for the entrance exam and interview.

Eligibility Criteria

B.Tech

The candidate must have passed 10+2 examination prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu or any other equivalent examination with minimum 45% marks (40% for the reserved category candidates) in mathematics, physics and any one subject among- Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Computer Science/ Biology (Botany & zoology) combined.
The candidate should have passed the qualifying examination with a maximum of two attempts (three attempts for SC/ ST Category candidates).

B.Tech –Lateral entry

The candidate must have passed a three year diploma or a four year sandwich diploma course in engineering/ technology with 50% as the minimum score OR must have passed B.Sc. from a recognized university with a minimum score of 50% (45% for reserved category) and passed 12th with mathematics as a subject.

Selection Criteria

Admissions to B.Tech are done through CENTAC Counselling.
It is based on the marks secured by the candidate in the prescribed subjects of the qualifying examination (i.e. for H.Sc. Academic: Mathematics, Physics and any one of Chemistry / Bio- Technology / Computer Sciences / Biology / Botany & Zoology & for H.Sc. Vocational: Vocational Subject Theory, Vocational Subject Practical and a related Subject)
Equal weight age will be given to all the three prescribed subjects. In case a candidate has appeared in more than any one of the above prescribed optional subjects, the subject in which the candidate has obtained the highest marks will be taken into consideration for “Normalization” and for calculating the actual total marks.

NOTE: The candidates can also seek admission under Management quota. He must have appeared for the common entrance test for Pondicherry private Engineering Colleges (CETPPMC) and should fulfill all the requirements prescribed by the Pondicherry University/ AICTE/Govt. of Puducherry for the course.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must hold a B.E./B.Tech and M.E./M.Tech. Degree in Mechanical Engineering Or must hold a Master’s degree which is accepted as equivalents by the University with at least 55 % marks.

How to Apply at SMVEC Pondicherry?

Candidates must visit the online portal of the Government of Puducherry – Centralized Admission Committee and register themselves.
The candidate must fill the application form with the correct information and pay the application fee.
Self attested photo copies of personal and academic documents must be uploaded. A scanned copy of the photograph will also be required.
After completing and submitting the form, the candidates must take a printout of the form.
The candidates will be asked to bring original documents at the time of physical counselling.
