Both the campus has their own merits and demerits. Go through the following points to find out.

  • Hostels: Jhanjheri campus has hostel rooms more spacious and has better bedding accessories than Landran. Overall Jhanjheri hostels have better bathrooms, gym, common room, food, mess facilities than Landran.
  • Festivals: Festivals are better at Jhanjheri and many celebs come to the campus to perform.
  • Faculty: As Jhanjheri is the new campus, most of the good faculties go to Jhanjheri.
  • Placements: Placement companies come to Landran but that’s not an issue as it is a joint placement drive and Jhanjheri students participate in it as well.
  • Transportation: Jhajhri campus is 7km away from Landran, and you won’t get a bus to Chandigarh or any nearby cities for the campus. You have to take an auto from Jhanjheri to Landran or Kharar.
  • Small Campus: The Jhanjheri campus is smaller than Landran but it offers better facilities.
  • Less Crowded: Jhanjheri campus is less crowded. It can be a good thing or a bad thing based on how you perceive it.

These are the basic difference between the two campuses. Now, it’s up to you to choose which is better for you.

CGC Landran is a good institute and is marked with an excellent placement in branches like CSE and IT, a decent faculty, and good enough campus life. Here’s a brief highlight of CGC Landran, based on what I heard about the institute from my friends at the institute.

  • There are some excellent professors, some average and mostly good enough professors in the faculty of the institute. Most professors are very humble and help the students in educational, research, and other purposes too.
  • The campus of CGC Landran is large. There are separate blocks for every branch inside the campus. Grounds for Cricket, volleyball, football, basketball, badminton, etc, are also available inside the campus.
  • CGC Landran is one of the best colleges in terms of placement under PTU. Most MNCs visit the campus for placement. Students are offered jobs according to their own capabilities, and with a good average placement package. The highest package offered in CGC is also very good and is seen to increase with consecutive years.

Therefore, CGC Landran is a decent option for students, especially in CSE and IT. An institute should not be rated harshly whatsoever of its disadvantages, being a joint effort of several people for its betterment.

When it comes to pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Lovely Professional University (LPU) stands out as the best private university compared to CGC and Landran. Here's why:

  • Scholarship Opportunities: LPU offers its own test called LPUNEST, which serves as the basis of eligibility for most of the programs and scholarships. The amount of scholarship awarded depends on the program's fee, date of admission, and the student's performance in LPUNEST. Additionally, LPU offers fee concessions for Defence and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and their dependents, as well as special scholarships for toppers of the Education Board and for students who have excelled in sports, cultural events, R&D, co-curricular activities, social service, and bravery awards.
  • Placements: LPU's placement record is impressive, with the highest international and domestic packages offered during the 2022 placement season standing at INR 300 LPA and INR 64 LPA, respectively. In 2021 and 2022, a total of 431 students were offered salary packages ranging between INR 10 LPA and INR 62.72 LPA, and over 1,050 companies visited the campus, offering 8,400 placement and internship opportunities.
  • Learning Life: LPU offers a holistic approach to learning, with a focus on training, internships, extra-curricular activities like sports and cultural events such as ONE INDIA, ONE WORLD, entrepreneurship, on-the-job training, project-based learning, and celebrity events featuring icons such as Ms. Dhoni, Deepika Padukone, and Shahrukh Khan.

Overall, Lovely Professional University is the best private university for pursuing a degree in CSE. Its generous scholarship opportunities, impressive placement record, and comprehensive approach to learning make it an excellent choice for students who aspire to excel in the field of Computer Science and Engineering.

There are a plethora of parameters based on which one can decide which college is better than the other. But at the same time, your choices and your priorities also matter to decide which college you will opt for. You might not get all the fulfillments in the college checklist but you can set your priorities. Coming onto the question, if you are willing to decide among CGC Landran and CCET Chandigarh, you are comparing two very different colleges.

Let’s decide based on different criteria:

Placement: If you are one among the students to whom the ultimate goal is to get into a reputed company after Engineering, CGC Landran will be the right choice. You know why? Go through the placement records given below:

Placement Stats

CGC Landran

CCET Chandigarh

Highest Package

35 Lakhs

12 Lakhs

Average Package

7 Lakhs

4.07 Lakhs

The placement stats of CGC Landran is way better than CCET Chandigarh.

If you want the stamp of Panjab University on your degree, then you can opt for CCET Chandigarh. Although, CCET will not provide you with any extra benefits/royalties like Panjab University. Instead of CCET, UIET is a better choice.

From the study point of view, there is not much difference between these two colleges.

A few of my friends are CGC Landran alumni and their rutin at the institute was somewhat like the following.

  • Students lined in a queue near washrooms early in the morning at 06:30-07:00 AM.
  • Reaching mess for breakfast.
  • Getting ready. Tuesdays and Thursdays are meant for uniform/casual.
  • 4 lectures to be attended from 09:15-12:05 PM (Group 1)
  • 5 lectures to be attended from 09:15-12:55 PM (Group 2)
  • Group 1 lunch break is from 12:05-12:55 PM. While group 2 lunch break is from 12:55-01:45 PM
  • Prolonged classes till 04:30 PM after lunchtime.
  • 04:30-05:00 PM is snack time.
  • Head back to your room and study or play video games like- mini militia or counter strike.
  • 07:30-09:00 PM is dinner time.
  • You can wander around the campus, but make sure you report before 10 PM.

Next morning, you have the same routine which continues till Friday. College is off on Saturdays and Sundays. This routine that I have mentioned goes on for the next 3 years. Till then, you'd be categorized as seniors and prone to mass-bunks. Plus when you're in your 4th year of college, your timings would just be from 09:30 to 02:00 PM.

Once a year the institute celebrates Parivartan fest, sports day, Baishaki festival, etc. Each branch also has its separate fests in which students from different branches can take part. All in all life at CGC Landran will be quite fun.

CGC Landran is not a good institute to pursue MBA, because the placement scenario is very poor in CGC Landran. There are joint placements drives for all three colleges which are CGC Landran, CGC Jhanjheri, and CU.

I know a few people from the institute and I have not received good reviews about the MBA program that they offer. You can join the institute if you are willing to opt for a job with a 20,000 salary after finishing your degree.

The average offered here ranges from 4-5 LPA with top recruiters like Wipro, Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, Deloitte, Aditya Birla Group, Tommy Hilfiger

Although CGC Landran started first, the MBA program at Chandigarh University is unmatched. The University School of Business at CU offers great international exposure, which is a major advantage for anyone studying here.

The university provides opportunities for an international semester exchange, a semester abroad, and frequent interaction with international experts. The MBA program at CU also hosts international faculty from institutions of great repute to deliver sessions and international university add-on courses for the students.

Some recent sessions included an international expert session on Statistical Models for correlated non-stationary count response data by Dr. Vandana Jowaheer from the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science, University of Mauritius, Reduit, Mauritius. The students also attended international expert sessions on Applied Research by Professor (Dr.) Prem Chhetri from RMIT University, Australia, where discussed the depth of knowledge about the supply chain, which starts from the producer and ends up with the customer.

Moreover, the students attended international expert sessions on Strategy to Gain Competitive Advantage by Dr. Ching-Pu-Chen, CGO, Global Affairs Office, Yuan Ze University, where he talked about how companies are incorporating values and culture in the organization to gain a competitive advantage in the market. Such expert sessions enrich the students with the latest updates regarding entrepreneurial and job opportunities in the market, as well as the needs of the industry. Therefore, the MBA program at CU provides an excellent opportunity for international exposure and knowledge enhancement.
