When considering a post-graduate program in management, SOIL may be a strong option due to its flexible course offerings. SOIL offers a 1-year PGPM course, in addition to its 2-year MBA program, for individuals with at least 2 years of work experience. This can be particularly beneficial for those who wish to continue working while pursuing an advanced degree. Additionally, SOIL's average placement numbers are higher compared to BIMTECH but lesser than IMI, with an average placement of 11 LPA as opposed to 9.38 LPA and 12.87 LPA for BIMTECH and IMI, respectively.
However, it is important to consider other factors and conduct thorough research before making a final decision on which program to pursue.
IMI Delhi is better than IMT Ghaziabad. It has a smaller batch size, so you will face less competition, during placements. The faculty base of the institute is extraordinary. The institute also enjoys the advantage of being India’s first corporate-sponsored B-School. The course structure of IMI is rigorous and comparable to the top IIMs. IMI Delhi average package is INR 15.48 LPA, as per the placement highlights of 2022.
IMI Delhi is ranked higher than TAPMI in most of the rankings one will come across. However, the scenario may differ based on work experience, expectations from an MBA, and the major one is looking for.
IMI Delhi has a better record of companies coming for placements than TAPMI. But, TAPMI has a different approach to placement reports. The figures are CRISIL certified, and the aim is to provide world-class education with a rigorous curriculum unmatched in the industry. The education and rigor received at TAPMI will make the investment worth it.
Life at TAPMI is tough, and it is not the typical B-School one would wish for. The institution is strict about every detailed aspect, and there won’t be opportunities to go home every fortnight or bunk class. However, a wonderful campus with best-in-class facilities will be provided, and personal expenses won’t skyrocket.
Placements will not be an issue once the necessary skills are acquired. Opportunities in every field of every kind will be provided, and the faculties are top-notch with high industry experience.
In the end, the decision is up to the individual.
I have written about the interview experience of my sister who appeared for the same last year.
She reached the venue and had registration and a brief introduction about IMI by a Sir.
After the introduction, the candidates were allotted a topic for WAT. She got the ‘current USP of the market: offers more for less'. She wrote well including points related to competition, and technology reach, and gave examples of Reliance Jio.
Next, they had document verification and were given the serial number for the interview. She was ushered into a room with 2 panelists, a lady and a man in their 50s. The panelists seemed friendly and asked her what the other candidates told her about them. After a friendly exchange, they enquired about her work. She was also asked to justify her low marks in class 12 to which she confidently replied that she was busy preparing for IIT JEE. They asked her about the things she liked to do in her leisure time and her passions. When she told them that one of them was cycling, they asked her about the biggest Cycle race. They asked a few more questions related to cycling to which she had nearly no answers.
The topic soon switched to pities and they asked her about Maharashtra and Delhi CM and the controversies related to the Delhi CM. This too could not be answered by her.
They further asked her about her home state and related questions. Her extempore topic was ‘What Narendra Modi can do to stop engineers going for MBA to support his Make in India.’ She spoke about how investments can be made from foreign investors and the process of initiating a startup should become easier to promote entrepreneurship.
Lastly, she was asked about the other offers she had and if she was considering them or not and why so. She ended the interview by stating viable reasons as to why she was determined to join IMI Delhi only.
The following answer is based on my brother's experience in IMI New Delhi from where he completed his graduation last year. He mentioned the various aspects of the Institute like placements, infrastructure, and faculty. I have summarized his viewpoint under the following headings
Overall my brother was very satisfied with the results of the placements and claimed his hard work did really pay off in the end.
Of the three B-schools, my favorite would be GIM mainly because of the high ROI it offers. Also, the community you spend time with becomes your family. Spending 2 years in your program makes you closer to your juniors, seniors, faculty, and your own batchmates. There is tremendous harmony between everyone and you develop a sense of community while spending time with them. You don’t necessarily have to socialize to develop networks, the process is rather natural. You know almost everyone on campus and even some visiting alumni by their first name. You don’t have to necessarily be a part of a club or committee and can seek help or information from anyone at any anytime.
The faculty comprises professors with Ph.D. degrees and experience of more than 10 years. There is no compromise on the quality and GIM hires the best faculty.
GIM lays great emphasis on the holistic development of students by encouraging activities like movies, games, treks, outings, and extracurricular activities. This does not mean you can compromise in your academics. You have to equally focus on completing your assignments, projects, and other class readings. Balancing your academics with extracurricular activities is tough initially but once you get adapted to it, it will make your corporate life better in the long run. You will focus more than just your work and spend some time on extracurriculars also.
Goa Institute of Management is a good choice only if you are seeking more than just a degree. If you are seeking a rich learning experience and a community that will stay throughout your life, then this is the best choice for you.
The academics of almost all B Schools across India are more or less the same. IMI Delhi claims to be the third in intellectual capital which is the quality of faculty. This ranking is however justifiable as IMI Delhi does have the best pool of faculty.
The next thing to consider while analyzing the worth of a B School is the kind of culture it offers to its students. The culture is still not at par with top institutes like IMT, MDI, SP Jain, IIM, etc., and is growing steadily. Still, over the last few years, IMI has witnessed a drastic change in culture mainly stemming from the various administrative changes made. These efficient and transparent changes have increased the culture quality at IMI Delhi.
The placement scenario has been improving at a steady pace like any other B School. Most 2 and 3-tier institutes will provide a similar experience and can be considered for an MBA. However, do not target a B-school lesser in worth than this because MBA mainly depends on the worth of the institution.
IMI Delhi is among the top B Schools in tier 2 and the only B Schools better than this are old IIMs, FMS, MDI, IIFT, SP Jain, Jamnalal Bajaj, XLRI, and NM Mumbai.
IMI Delhi has its flagship PGDM course wherein you can choose any specialization in the second year ranging from finance, marketing, and operations to HRM. Apart from this flagship course, IMI Delhi additionally offers a separate specialization program i.e., PGDM HRM (Human Resource Management).
Suitability: The program is targeted toward individuals keen to kickstart their careers in the HR domain.
Curriculum: The curriculum is industry relevant and is customized according to the recent trends in the industry. So unlike the regular PGDM, the HRM program lays more emphasis on core HR subjects. This basically means that tour core subjects will comprise more HR electives than general Management.
International exchange program: This program enables students from foreign universities to study with the students at IMI Delhi and vice Versa.
Placements: The key highlights of IMI Delhi placements 2023 for PGDM HRM are tabulated below:

Both the options you mentioned, IMI Delhi PGDM and IMT G Finance are good in their own individual aspects. So you should rather be asking which is better for you. Now this depends on what you really want from your PGDM. By choosing PGDM Finance you will limit yourself only to the Finance sector, whereas a PGDM core will give you a chance to explore various domains before selecting your specialization. The former is a good option if you are certain about your interest in Finance and want to excel in that sector no matter what while the latter is good if you are open to all options.
Talking about IMI Delhi in general, the B School offers an abundance of opportunities through student bodies and other student driven activities. Moreover the additional locational advantage is what makes it a fairly good option. The batch size is also not too big and thus balances the student teacher ratio.
Placements are pretty decent at IMI Delhi. The IMI Delhi average package (overall) offered during 2023 placements was INR 17.01 LPA. For PGDM, PGDM (B&FS), and PGDM (HR) the average package stood at INR 17.20 LPA, INR 16.48 LPA, and INR 15.58 LPA, respectively.
The primary highlight of the B School is its student exchange program wherein students from foreign universities join the B School for a fixed period while students from IMI Delhi visit a foreign university in exchange.
All these factors make IMI Delhi a very good choice in comparison to IMT G.
IMI Delhi offers plenty of opportunities in terms of learning and knowledge. With the extremely talented and experienced faculty combined with the terrific industry exposure, the high fees do not seem so high in reality. A student just does not learn at IMI New Delhi, he grows.
Consider only 65-70% of the average package to draw conclusions from it. This is because not all
Students contribute to the average package figure, but only the ones that got placed till the last placement date contribute to it.
The placement scenario at IMI New Delhi however, depends more on your competence than anything. It’s the ones who are genuinely passionate and have worked really hard that are able to face the placements. Before the placements, the committee makes sure to let you know that any failure in regard to placements will be a result of your own incompetence and not the institute’s inefficiency. So be prepared for such scenarios.
Like any other B School, there is a bias towards the Placement committee which gets placed right in the beginning. At IMI Delhi a student can sit for PI a maximum of 5 times but some are allowed to do so more than 7-8 times. There is a distinction between us and you will have to consider this factor.
Now make an informed decision by first determining what is more important for you; placements or academics. If it’s the former you are after then there is no certainty you will get a good package but for the latter, I can assure you, you will spend the best time learning the best things.
