Ques
Among PGDM-FS from K J Somaiya, GIM PGDM, and SIIB, what should I choose?

● Top Answer By Anuja Trivedi on 09 May 22

Ans
For a PGDM FS, KJ Somaiya is the best option among these. The institute has a locational advantage since it is situated at the financial hub of the country, i.e. Mumbai.  KJ Somaiya placements are great. According to the 2022 interim placement report, the average CTC offered to the students was INR 10.25 LPA, while the highest CTC offered was INR 26.50 LPA.  Between GIM and SIIB, the letter offers better industrial relations and better job roles in campus placements.

Ques
Which college should I choose between SIMS Pune and SIIB Pune where both are old and the same placements and SIMS fee is low but SIIB peer quality is good?

● Top Answer By Souman Halder on 26 May 21

Ans
SIIB is the third rank college in SNAP and has a high cutoff around 98 percentile. Since SIMS admits mostly students from defense backgrounds so the quality of peer of SIIB, is comparatively better. There’s also another parameter that you should consider while choosing the right institute for your MBA, i.e. specialization. For Marketing and Finance, go for SIIB Pune. It is definitely a better choice, with more companies on campus as compared to SIMS.  If you are interested in Operation/SCM or HR go for SIMS. It has a large batch size for HR and Operations that ensures better placement opportunities and peer learning.  Another factor that is crucial for choosing a management institute is ROI. SIIB offers a poor Return On Investment if you don't get the top jobs. However, recently SIIB is seeing very good placements. SIIB is better in long term.

● Top Answer By Pritika Rane on 25 May 21

Ans
Symbiosis Institute of International Business, Pune (SIIB) offers students two-year full-time residential programs in MBA.  The hostel, situated in the Hinjewadi Infotech Park, is surrounded by various large multinational companies of India, some of them being Wipro, Cognizant, Infosys, etc. It is mainly influenced so as to make students feel the atmosphere of the corporate world from within the campus itself. You will find various in-campus sports facilities to de-stress after a tiring day. The institute also offers a gym and a well-equipped health care center to support wellbeing.  The hostels of SIIB, Pune come with their own coffee shops, canteens, stationery, and departmental stores to help students get the items they need.  All the hostels (considering both boys’ and girls’) come with elevators, backup powers, Wi-Fi, and LAN internet connectivity as well.  SIIB Pune is surrounded by hills on either side which infiltrates a sense of peace and tranquility which produces a highly conducive atmosphere for learning. My friends at the institute are quite happy with the campus life.

Ques
I need to know details about SIIB, Pune and SIBM, Bengaluru. SNAP cut-off for getting GD-PI call, expected package, future scope. Which one will be a better option?

● Top Answer By Swapnil Bhaskar on 02 Jun 21

Ans
One of my friends at SIBM Bengaluru, says it is an excellent institute, which has been growing at an exponential pace over the last 10 years. The points below will give you a clear idea as to why you should go for SIBM Bangalore over SIIB Pune. The institute completed its 10th year in 2018, after which it has seen several FMCG companies visit the campus. The recruiters include top MNCs like Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan Chase, Deloitte, Morgan Stanley, ITC, Dell, Credit Suisse, Maruti Suzuki, etc.  Most of these companies recruit students for both SIP and full-time placements. The average package of SIBM was Rs. 9.58 LPA, which is at present above Rs. 10 LPA.  For SIBM Bengaluru, the cut-off was close to 89-90 percentiles in the last few years, which has increased to some value over the last 3-4 years.  After clearing the cut-off, you will get a call from the institute for GEPIWAT. SIBM is located at the IT hub in Bengaluru. This is an added advantage. It will help in industrial visits and internships. Categories SIIB Pune SIBM Bengaluru Course Fee 10.28-14.4 lakhs 1.31-14.5 lakhs Highest CTC 16 LPA 26 LPA Average CTC 9 LPA 10.26 LPA Recruiting Companies Aditya Birla, UltraTech Cement, ITC, UPL, etc. Bisleri, Asian Paints, Nestle, Loreal, etc. Therefore, SIBM Bengaluru has several advantages, which makes it a good choice for students having close to 90 percentile.

Ques
What will my life be like in 10 years if I get an MBA in marketing or finance from SIBM/SIIB, Pune?

● Top Answer By Rishabh Pathak on 08 Jun 21

Ans
By understanding the perspective of your question, there shall not be a huge change if you only get an MBA done. The thing that determines it is the choices you are going to make like the firm you choose to work in, your expected salary or location or role, the work environment, and various other choices. In 10 years, if you continue working hard, then you will probably have made 2 or 5 years of promotion. You can also simultaneously expect a major salary hike. However, considering several drawbacks such as home loans, personal expenses, family expenditure, annual vacations, and fee structure of institutions, you are expected to live a very grounded life. You should be sure enough about what you are passionate about during pursuing MBA. Join a job sector that can lead you to a good state. If necessary, you should also build an alternate income for other essential factors. You should also begin pro-bono consulting during the weekends. You can also consult a startup or can choose to become a mentor or adviser or helper too. Thus, your life 10 years from now will not however result only if you particularly get an MBA from a B-school, but will take into account the choices you have made, and the hard work you were to undertake.

Ques
Which one is better among IMT Gaziabad, XIM Bhubaneswar, and SIIB Pune?

● Top Answer By Sampriti Banerjee on 01 Apr 23

Ans
You should consider XIM Bhubaneshwar over IMT Ghaziabad, and SIIB Pune as your choice of B-school. Following are the pros and cons.  Pros: XIMB has its own unique culture and selects students who fit into that culture. The institute provides a great student life on campus, with excellent faculty and a lot of freedom for students. The geographical disadvantage of the institute is compensated by almost 100% placements, especially for above-average students. XIMB provides a lot of opportunities for interaction with industry experts, giving students good exposure. The alumni of XIMB are doing well in almost all big corporate houses, which helps in placements and career moves after the first job. Being an XIMB alum carries a lot of brand value and credibility. Cons: XIMB's location is a disadvantage that may affect its rankings. The quota system, although rigorous, goes against XIMB in rankings.

Symbiosis Institute of International Business, Pune (SIIB) established in 1992 is a constituent of the well-recognised Symbiosis Institute of Management. National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management also known as Manage was established in 1987 by the Ministry of Agriculture. Over the years both these institutions have been ranked amongst the top 50 B-Schools of the country. It is hard to prefer one over the other but we try to analyse a few aspects here. Course: At Manage, all courses are solely focused on the agribusiness sector and hence, the institute has a high brand value in this industry attracting lucrative offers. Also, it is run by the government, thereby ensuring quality of education and highly esteemed and experienced faculty members. Fees: At SIIB, the fees for MBA in Agri Business Management is 10.8 lacs. While at Manage, it is 6.05 lacs for the same course. Admission: For both these institutes, candidates need to meet the basic eligibility criteria of 50% throughout the academic career to apply.
