IIM Sirmaur has been consistent in placing maximum number of students in the Sales and Marketing domain irrespective of the sector. Despite having an 100% increase in the number of recruiters, Sales and Marketing is still the most preferred choice of the students for summer placements. There has been a shift in the most preferred sector however from EdTech in 2022 to BFSI in 2023 and 2024. The same pattern can be seen in the final placement of 2023 as well where BFSI emerged as the most dominant sector.
See what existing students have to say about IIM Sirmaur placements
“Both Summer Placements and Final Placements are provided by the Institute. Being a third-generation IIM, Jobs offered at IIM Sr are as lucrative as other IIMs, but the Institute is progressing fairly well in this area. Prominent recruiters are coming to campus for recruitment. Majority of Batch got placed in BFSI sector. the last year average placement is 15 Lakh and the highest international package is 60 lakh”
“The placement is Umeralla Placement for both the batches core and TM batches. The average placement of last year was 15 lakh for core and 12 lakh for the TM batch and there is including of both international and national placements. this year i saw many good companies come for a placement like ,ICICI, HDFC, Air India, Indigo, Deliote, KPMG and the last year highest package is 62 lakh (TOLARAM)”
“Placements are the best amongst all 3rd gen IIMs, be it SIPs or Final Placements. Likes of Paytm and Amazon are on campus and the numbers are also very promising. The placecom here does not gets involved in any unfair and dirty games and i can vouch for that. Theyll never ask you to opt out forcefully just to make their numbers good”
IIM Sirmaur’s batch strength for the current batch of 2023-2025 is 309 students including both the courses of MBA Core and TM. Out of this a staggering 85% students are freshers.
This is not just a chance but a strategic decision of IIM Sirmaur to prefer more freshers over work experience students. Even amongst the 15% students who had work experience, preference was given to those who had less than 24 months of work experience. As per the official summer placement report of IIM Sirmaur for the batch of 2025, the decision of having more freshers was a deliberate decision to counter the slowdown in the market keeping the ROI for freshers high.
This however will certainly impact the overall diversity of the batch and peer learning experience.
IIM Sirmaur has, however, maintained a good diversity in terms of educational background. With over 50% students coming from BCom and BBA backgrounds, IIM Sirmaur has broken the usual notion of MBA classrooms being heavily dominated by engineering students. The representation of technical and science related background students is decent enough at 35% with nearly 28% of the batch comprising female students.

Ever wondered about what college life is really like at IIM Sirmaur? It's a whole adventure! From going to classes in the morning to hanging out with friends in the hostel at night, life at IIM Sirmaur is all about making memories, learning and having fun.
A particular day in the life of a student at IIM Sirmaur starts with getting ready and rushing to attend morning classes which usually starts at 9 in the morning. In the first year at IIM Sirmaur, students study a variety of subjects like finance, marketing, HR, strategy, operations and many more. On any given day, there are between 3-6 classes, each lasting 1.5 hours. After the hectic schedule of classes, students engage themselves in other activities.
At IIM Sirmaur, students engage themselves in clubs and committees. The institute, a student run, offers a chance to students to be involved in its functioning. Each club or committee has their respective role to be performed. After the classes, students engage themselves in this work. By being a part of clubs and committees, students get a chance to work with their batchmates and make a difference in the institute by either handling its operations or organizing events. There are many students who work in live projects to gain a practical exposure by working on real projects. They devote some time of the day to this. This helps them in connecting academic knowledge with real work.
In the evenings, students relax at the mess, cafeteria or ground. They have their meals too. The institute has a library and computer lab for those who want to study, read books or newspapers or work on their academic projects. The day ends at students returning to their respective hostels. After this, they spend their time with their friends, creating lasting memories together.
As IIM Sirmaur is operating from its temporary campus at Paonta Sahib, The Campus area is not widespread and has limited space for hostels within a short distance of the academic building. The Institute has six hostels: Yajur Hostel, Atharva Hostel, Kailash Hostel, Kartik Hostel, Vinayak Hostel, and Dental Hostel. Among these six hostels, two are within the boundaries of the campus, Yajur Hostel and Atharva Hostel; these are girls' hostels and some additional separate rooms for PWD students. The security and restrictions are comparatively higher than those of other hostels as these hostels are within campus boundaries. However, when it comes to the advantages of these hostels, there are plenty, like the short distances between them and the academic blocks; students can reach the classes within a minute when they reside in Yajur and Atharva Hostels. Almost all the cultural and Sports activities are organized on the campus grounds, which are very close to these hostels, so accessibility is a significant advantage of girls' hostels. The other four hostels, Kailash Hostel, Kartik Hostel, Vinayak Hostel, and Dental Hostels, are for male students. Three of these hostels are for second-year students, allotted at the time of registration for the second year. Kailash Hostel is for first-year students; this hostel is 6km away from the academic block and is far away from all. Double occupancy rooms are allocated to students, and various facilities like Bicycles, washing machines, gym, indoor games, refrigerators, ovens, and geysers are provided to students, which makes life easier for them. Security is up to mark in all the hostels; on average, 2-3 guards are available, and CCTV Cameras protect gates. Students can bring their Vehicles to the hostels, and parking facilities are available. Girls can enter the boys' hostel from morning to evening to encourage co-ed and diverse educational sessions. Bus facilities are available for students who reside in these hostels, and buses are arranged for students from morning to late at night to provide good connectivity between the academic block and the hostels. Each hostel has a dedicated Mess and Canteen for students. The hostels' Entry times are from 5:00 Am to 10:00 P.m., and breaking these rules results in fines. The nearest market is 3km away from the hostels. For transportation, Institute buses and E-rickshaws are available nearby, which can help the students get to the nearest market.

After scrutinizing the list of colleges you mentioned, I think the most viable option is IIM Bodh Gaya. It is the most suitable among the 3 because it has been growing at a spectacular rate. The 2 major reasons for its rapid growth are
Both these factors differentiate Bodh Gaya from Sambalpur and Sirmaur extremely well.
My brother was a part of the batch that suffered from covid regulations. Although the first year was online, the second year was totally virtual. Other than online classes one major hardship his batch faced was the internship offer getting revoked. Narrating his experience, he told me that
Overall the experience was a really good one and my brother made some amazing college memories.

Compare the summer and final placement reports of both batches for all the 3 years. Look up the student clubs and activities on both campuses. They are absolutely necessary for your 2 years there. Finally, look up the professors in both colleges, majorly for the subject, you will probably be specializing in. Good professors impart their experience along with education. Keep in mind that IIM Bodhgaya, however, lags behind in one vital factor i.e., the number of students. In all probability, the students in the upcoming batch (your would-be batch) in Sirmaur will be more than if you were in Bodhgaya. A healthy amount of interaction matters a lot, especially because it's a business school and you benefit from the range of ideas numbers can provide.
However, the final decision is up to you entirely. Assign weights to the above factors and decide accordingly. After taking the decision, do not second guess your choice after going into one of the colleges. Make the best of your time there. Chase excellence in every facet of your MBA while you are there. If you do this, the choice part will cease to matter in a few months.
Yes, personally I think if you have the above options only, then definitely go for IIM Bodh Gaya. The institute has many perks that will not leave you regretting your decision.
All these advantages make IIM Bodh Gaya a better choice.
