Here are some of the facts that you should know before choosing a B-School.

Top-level colleges:

Honestly, there are only a few B-Schools in India that matters at the top level which are IIM-A, B, C, L, I, K, ISB-H, XLRI-J, FMS-D, JBIMS-M, MDI-G, IMT-G, S.P.JAIN-M, NMIMS-M, SIBM-P (in random order). These institutes have more than 30 years of history. The above-mentioned colleges are great and their value is not going to decrease in this decade. In addition to this list, one more college is emerging as a great option and that is ISB.

Special Mentioned Colleges: 

There are also some other special mentions- TISS, NITIE, MICA, SCMHRD. These specialize in different domains, TISS for HR, NITIE for operations, MICA for Communications Management, and Advertising. These schools are emerging greatly and providing industry-related knowledge and expertise.

Honorary Mentioned Colleges: 

XIMB and IMI are good B-schools. IMI is in an unfortunate location and is subjected to a lot of quotas including that in the recruitment of faculty. Both of these colleges have sparks of brilliance but they aren’t able to convince anyone.

Substandard Colleges:

There are certain colleges that are located in such areas where the scope of growth is minimal. For example, some of the new IIMs such as IIM Shillong has bad infrastructure, there is a lack of full-time professors. There is also no alumni base. This makes it hard for the aspiring student to survive there.
