DMS IIT Delhi offers 2 years MBA in General Specialisations and MBA with Specialization in Telecom. Interested candidates can apply for both programs by fulfilling required eligibility requirements.

Eligibility:

For MBA: Bachelors in any stream from a recognized university, Must have minimum 60% marks.
For MBA (Telecom): Bachelors in branches of Bachelor’s Degree in any branch of Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Pharmacy/ B.Sc. Agriculture Engineering (minimum 4 years after 10+2)/ Physical/Chemical/Mathematical Sciences like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Application, Electronic Science, Environmental Science, Operations Research, Computational/Information Science, Agriculture or Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce/ Economics, CA/ICWA, Must have minimum 60% marks.
For Foreign National eligibility: Bachelor's degree holders in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Pharmacy/B.Sc. DMS IIT Delhi Executive MBA Admission Criteria 2023

DMS IIT Delhi offers an Executive MBA program in Technology Management. The duration of the program is 3 years through the evening class schedule on 4 or 5 working days.

Eligibility:

Bachelor’s Degree in any branch of Engineering / Technology
Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics)
Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Operation Research, Computer Application, Economics, Commerce and CA/ICWAI

AND

Minimum of 60% marks in aggregate (of all the years / semesters) or 6.00 CGPA on a 10 point scale or equivalent in the above mentioned degree programmes are essential for admission.
For SC/ST/PH category Students, minimum performance in the qualifying degree with postgraduate qualification is relaxed from 60% to 55% (CGPA relaxed from 6.00 to 5.50).
Minimum of 2 years of post-qualifying degree work experience as on 01 August 2023.

DMS IIT Delhi PhD Admission Criteria 2023

DMS IIT Delhi offers PhD degree in research areas such as Economics; Finance & Accounting; Information Technology & Systems; Marketing; Operations, and Supply Chain Management; and Strategy, and Technology Management. The minimum duration of the program is 2 years for M.tech qualified candidates and 3 Years for B.tech or equivalent qualified candidates. Candidates are allowed to submit their final thesis within 7 years.

Shortlisting Criteria:

B.Tech/B.E. degree holders must have 75% or equivalent CGPA.
For PG qualification,candidates with minimum 60%marks) or equivalent grade score (GPA) are shortlisted for PI.
For Full Time PhD with assistantship, candidates must have a GATE score >= 300 or UGC (Lectureship or Research Fellowship), CSIR, ICAR, ICMR, DST and INSPIRE.

My friend was an Economics fresher and appeared for an MBA interview at DMS, IIT Delhi. The answer is courtesy of his experience with the panelists.

The entire procedure comprised of WAT, Documents Verification, ECA document verification, and PI

Everything was done systematically and in an organized manner. The WAT was a 30-minute process and she was made to write on Outsourcing. After the ECA, she was escorted to the interview room where she found 2 female panelists.

They asked for her brief introduction, something that is more than just her name and educational background. On hearing about her passion for writing she asked what kind of writing she was into.

Owing to her interest in hockey, they asked her some related questions like

what improvements does the Indian Hockey team need
Who was her role model from the team and why
Why she did not pursue a hockey career
Did she choose the game because of it being the national game ( which it is not thus being a trick)

Next she was asked about her School life, age, and past academics. She walked if she had any prior working experience. Being an economics student they asked her

What is elasticity and asked her to draw a graph
They asked her what would happen if the demand for a water bottle would be increased

Lastly they asked her about her weakness after which she was asked to leave. The overall interview was a good experience mainly because the panelists, one of which was an alumnus, were friendly and lightened the tension.

What is the course structure for M.Tech CSE in IIT Bombay/Delhi/Kanpur?

MTech CSE in IIT Bombay comprises 4 semesters. The first and second are usually more hectic than the third and fourth mainly because 3 and 4 semesters just have practical work.

Semester 1: This semester has the most theoretical course. A student usually has 5 subjects of theory with 1 or 2 practical subjects,
Semester 2: The course curriculum is almost the same as that of semester 1 except that you can choose optional subjects depending on your interests. The 2nd semester is concluded with the viva of the entire theoretical course. In some branches, the viva takes place in the 3rd semester.
Semester 3: Towards the end of the previous semester, you are required to choose your guide. You can make an informed decision after checking the Professor's research work and matching it with your inclinations. In the 3rd semester, the project work commenced and you are required to select a title your research work will be based on. This semester is less hectic in comparison to the previous semesters as there is no theory and all you have to do is focus on your project work. In fact, I have seen people engaging in extracurricular activities during this semester.
Semester 4: This semester witnessed the placement seasons. Students are required to revise their theories and work on their respective projects. The questions asked by the panelists are usually related to your project work so it’s advisable to complete the project thesis.

Which one is better MBA from FMS Delhi or IIT Delhi?

It is not a brainer that an MBA from FMS Delhi is a much better choice than IIT Delhi. IIT Delhi's MBA program is not even close to that if FMS and both are poles apart. If you want your MBA degree to be valuable enough to shape your career drastically, FMS is the one for you.

Here are a few pointers as to why I am so strongly in favor of FMS Delhi:

Ranking: One of the most valued ranking systems, IIRF ranks DMS IITD MBA 14 out of 44 colleges in India while FMS is ranked 5 out of 44 colleges in India in 2023.

Fees: IIT Delhi offers MBA at around INR 10.4 Lakhs (for 2 years) while FMS has very low fees of around INR 96,000 per year. This is almost 1/4th of the fees of the MBA program offered at IIT Delhi despite being way ahead in terms of brand value.

Placements: Being one of the premier B-schools in the country, it offers excellent placements that almost par with the top IIMs and its placements are nowhere comparable to IIT Delhi’s placements.

Why/why not MBA from IIT Delhi(DMS)?

While many MBA aspirants consider nothing better than IIMs, I have an altogether different opinion in this regard. This opinion stems from my sister's experience last year when she completed her MBA from DMS, IIT Delhi.

IIT Delhi is a magical place that harnesses your talents to the fullest and helps you identify your strengths and overcome your weaknesses.
An excellent peer group promotes healthy competition and growth
The overall ambiance and culture at the IIT combined with the rich alumni base make it possible to gain an enriching experience.
The older the institute and program the more brand value it carries. IITs MBA program dates back to 1997 and fulfills this age criterion excellently.
The most important is the fees which are less than half the fees of other top B Schools. This results in great return on investment with the placements being almost on par with most B Schools
The small batch size of 120 promotes great peer interactions as well as student-teacher relations.

I certainly don’t mean to undermine the B schools, what I mean is IIT Delhi DMS is not that bad an idea for an MBA.

DMS IIT Delhi is approved by UGC, AICTE and NBA. It ranked 8th in the management department by NIRF 2020. It is one of the most popular MBA colleges in the country. Their batch size is 111.

IIM Kozhikode ranks 6th for MBA by NIRF 2020. It has a faculty strength of 80 members and 492 students consisting of 236 men and 256 women students.

Admission Details

Students should at least have 50-60% in their 10+2 qualifying exams.
Selection will be based on CAT scores.
This will be followed by a Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
The final selection will be based on the candidates CAT scores and their performance in GD and PI.

DMS IIT Delhi

The campus is 320 acres in area.
They have a library with a collection of 21000 in books, periodicals, newspapers, magazines and ebooks.
They have a computer lab with 1400 switched network access points.
The campus offers facilities like staff club, hospital, shopping center, bank, post office, telecom center, community center, stadium and playing fields.

IIM Kozhikode

Their library consists of 35,000 books, 277 print journals, 2,00,000 e-books, 6120 research journals, 15,000 corporate annual reports.
There are 13 well designed hostels which can accommodate 800 students.
The whole campus is wifi enabled.

According to location DMS is in the northern region and IIM Kozhikode is in the southern region of India. The cut off of the CAT exam in DMS is 90-96 and IIM Kozhikode is 90-97. Your CAT score and your performance in GD and PI afterwards will also determine which institute will be suitable for you.

In case of return of investment both the colleges are equally good and have maintained a placement record of 100% providing students with great job offers in all fields like finance, sales, management, human resources and IT. The salary package an MBA graduate is offered starts from 20 LPA which can increase to 40-50 LPA.

Which one should I choose between DMS IIT Delhi and MDI Gurgaon PGP-HRM?

This entirely depends on your preferences. If you want to pursue a career in human resources after earning your MBA, enroll in the MDI PGP-HRM program.

DMS at IIT Delhi is a general management degree, and while you can choose any electives you want, there are few jobs in HR. If your primary criterion is ROI and you haven't yet decided which specialization to pursue, you should strongly consider accepting the offer from DMS, IIT Delhi. You'll have plenty of time to decide on a specialization anyway.

In terms of the profiles offered during final placements, there isn't much difference between MDI and DMS, IIT Delhi; however, the overall popularity of MDI is slightly higher than DMS, IIT Delhi; this is also due to the fact that DMS doesn't advertise itself much, and as a private b-school, MDI has that advantage to market itself.

Which is best between IIFT Delhi or IIM Shillong, or DMS, IIT Delhi in terms of brand value?

DMS and IIM Shillong are nowhere near the level of IIFT, Delhi. A more accurate comparison for IIFT would be with MDI, SP Jain, or IMT.

IIM Shillong will be more valuable only to those who are oblivious to the IIM label. The college's remote location and unusual selection criteria are significant impediments to its growth. DMS, on the other hand, has an advantage due to the fees, but it is still not in the same league. A more level playing field would be with SJMSOM and IIT Bombay.

So, if you want the IIM tag, go with IIM Shillong, but keep in mind that with new IIMs opening every year, that tag is becoming diluted, and go with DMS only if fees are a major criterion. Just in terms of brand value, IIFT is far superior to either of them, with its 50-year heritage, strong alumni, central location, and strong differentiation.

DMS, IIT Delhi is among the top 15 B-Schools in the country. It is one f the favorite destination for most MBA aspirants in the country. It has a great academic and placement record. IIT Delhi MBA placements 2021 had an average CTC of INR 18.5 LPA.

For 2021, DMS IIT Delhi MBA cutoff was 98 percentile. For shortlisting, the institute usually doesn’t consider sectional cutoffs.
