Siddaganga Institute of Technology accepts BTech admissions based on COMEDK- UGET 2024/ KCET Score followed by centralized counselling. The application process for COMEDK- UGET 2024 will start from February 01 and the entrance test is scheduled on May 12, 2024. KCET applications will also start from January 10, 2024 and the entrance exam will be conducted on April 20 & 21, 2024 in offline pen & paper mode.

Siddaganga Institute of Technology (SIT) is a prestigious engineering institute located in Tumkur district of Karnataka state. The college was established in the year 1963 by Sree Siddaganga Education Society.

Siddaganga Institute of Technology (SIT) offered undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D. level programs in various disciplines of Engineering and Science. The institute offers 12 UG programs with a total intake of 950 students and 16 PG programs with a total intake of 432 students.

Candidates can apply through KEA website for UG and PG programs.
Ph.D. candidates can apply through institute admission process.
M.Tech candidates can apply through GATE score. Such candidates do not require to appear for Karnataka PGCET exam.
B.E. candidates must compulsorily appear for KCET exam.
B.E. candidates should have passed 10+2 with 45% aggregate.
M. Tech candidates must score at least 50% marks in graduation (B.E. / B. Tech / M.Sc.)
MBA and MCA candidates must clear graduation with 45% minimum marks and must qualify their respective PGCET.

Siddaganga Institute of Technology B.E. Admission 2023

Siddaganga Institute of Technology offers undergraduate level engineering courses in up to twelve disciplines. The basic eligibility criteria for admission to these programs is passing 10+2 in science stream with English as a subject, and obtaining a minimum of 45% aggregate marks in Physics and Mathematics along with Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Biology / Electronics / Computer.

Selection of candidates is done on the basis of marks obtained in Karnataka CET (KCET) and counselling conducted by DTE Karnataka.

Key Points for Admission:

25% of the total seats are reserved for candidates applying under management quota.
Minimum percentile of marks to be secured in 10+2 is relaxed for SC/ST candidates by 5%.
All candidates must apply through KCET and its respective counselling only.
For outside Karnataka candidates COMEDK score is acceptable.

Siddaganga Institute of Technology M.Tech, MBA, MCA Admission 2023

SIT offers MBA, MCA, and 13 M.Tech programs. Candidates seeking admission to PG courses in SIT can apply through PGCET. The basic eligibility criteria for admission to these programs is graduation in the relevant or allied discipline with minimum 50% marks. M.Tech candidates can also apply through a valid GATE score in the relevant field.

Application process for PGCET include filling the online application form on KEA website and online payment of application fees. Candidates are also required to register for counselling online and attend the same on the designated dates. The process of application is same for all PG programs offered by SIT.

Key Points for Admission:

M. Tech candidates with a valid GATE score do not require to appear for PGCET.

Siddaganga Institute of Technology Ph.D. Admission 2023

The institute offers Ph.D. programs to eligible candidates in up to 10 engineering disciplines, biotechnology and management subjects. The basic eligibility criteria for admission to these programs is a master’s degree in the relevant or allied discipline with a minimum of 50% marks. Candidates applying for Ph.D. offered by SIT are selected through institute entrance test and personal interview conducted on institute level.

Aspiring candidates may apply directly through the institute’s admission cell by collection a copy of the application form from the designated office. Payment of application fees can be made in cash or via demand draft addressed to “Siddaganga Institute of Technology” payable at Tumkur, Karnataka.

Siddaganga Institute of Technology Application Process 2023

The process of application varies from course to course. The detailed application process for each course is as follows:

For B.E. Programs:

Candidates can apply through Karnataka CET by visiting the KCET website.
The information brochure can be downloaded from the KCET website.
Candidates are then required to fill and submit the online Application form online after filling all the requisite details as given in the information brochure.
Payment of application fee can be made online through e-Challan.
Scanned copies of passport size photograph, candidate’s signature, candidate’s left hand thumb impression and parent’s signature are required to be uploaded.
Candidates must retain the following documents with them as reference for future correspondence.
1. At least three printouts of the finally submitted online application.
2. Proof of fee paid
3. 2-3 copies of identical photograph that scanned and uploaded on the online application.
All successful applicants will be issued admit cards for the purpose of CET. Candidates must preserve the Admit Card till the admission in college.
Outside Karnataka candidates can apply through COMEDK.

Note: The process of application for M. Tech, MBA and MCA course is same as that of B.E. However, candidates must apply through the PGCET link instead of KCET link.

For Ph.D. Programs

Candidates applying for Ph.D. programs can do so by collecting a copy of the application form from the institute’s admission cell.
Application fees can be paid by cash or demand draft. Application form along with relevant documents must reach the institute’s admission office on or before the last date.
Shortlisted candidates will be called for interview based on which admission is granted.

SIT Tumkur is a decent choice. Both the ISC and CS branch faculties are very well established as compared to the other faculties in the college. The syllabus is also very well updated and is set according to industry standards.

A number of different companies hire students from a number of different branches with decent packages of INR 3 to 7 LPA. Many different companies like TCS, Accenture, Siemens, Bosch, Byjus, etc. visit the college annually.

Lastly, if you want a fair comparison, my advice to you would be to visit both colleges and get in touch with the departments, their students and seniors. You are basically going to invest 4 years of your life here.

Although it can be extremely difficult when it comes to choosing the perfect engineering college from so many options these points can really help you to make a precise decision for your future.

Placement- Top companies like Amazon, CTS, IBM, HP, Tech Data, Samsung, Oracle, Microsoft provide the LPU students with various internship and job opportunities. The highest placement package is around 42 lakh per annum and the average range is 15 lakh per annum.

The highest salary package remains to be around 14.2 LPA for Siddaganga students and companies like Cisco, Health-Care, State Street, Juniper Network, Varsa Network and TCS are some of the top recruiters who offer both internship and job opportunities to the students.

Ranking- LPU ranked 99th amongst the top 100 institutions by NIRF 3rd amongst the top Private universities and 87th among the top engineering institutions by NIRF.

Scholarships- LPU seems to provide a lot of scholarships to students who perform well in various categories. Some of these scholarships are LPUNEST, on the basis of national tests, performance in extracurricular activities and so on.

In Siddaganga, a special scholarship is arranged by an institution alumni K.Shyam based on the CGPA and extracurricular performances of the students inside the campus.

Hostel facilities- LPU has separate hostels for boys and girls with excellent accommodation. They provide standard rooms with essentials like Iron bed, table, Almirah, AC geyser and so on. Hostel fee depends on the type of accommodation. For 1 seater apartment the fee is around 168000 per year and for 2 seater apartment it is 119000 per year.

Siddaganga Institute also provides comfortable accommodation for girls. They provide good food for 7 days with one special item once a week. The hostel fee here is relatively less unlike most of the other private universities. The hostel fee here is around 55000-65000 per year and it seems to be changing every year.

Which college should I choose for CSE among KLE Technological University, RNSIT, and SIT (Tumkur)?

Among the given options, SIT Tumkur is definitely a better option. It offers better placement and exposure as compared to RNSIT and KLE.

KLE isn't ideal when it comes to its location, therefore, I would advise you to not choose it. Since it is located far away from the main city within Bangalore, it gets pretty inconvenient for the companies to show up for placements. This gravely affects the placement scenario. You would as well be devoid of opportunities like off-campus placements, startups, or even as mentioned, transportation.

If you are a North Indian, never choose a college that is located at a far-away destination from Bangalore because of how inconvenient things would get because of the transportation factor.

However, if we talk about SIT Tumkur, the location of that institute is ideal since Bangalore is not that far from it. It is around 80 km away, which boosts the placement stats along with the ranking of that particular institute.

RNSIT is in Bangalore but it is not as good as SIT Tumkur.
