MSIT is well known for its good placement record. The packages are generally mentioned or are told in the email by the company.

For IT or CS, most of the students get placed provided they don’t have any backlogs and successfully cleared the written examination. Most of the students get placed in companies like Infosys, Accenture, etc. There are good companies too, but their selection process is difficult, which is the case for most institutes.

Here are the placement highlights for the academic year 2020.

Average CTC

7 LPA

Highest CTC

43 LPA

Major Recruiters

PayUBiz, Mu Sigma, Libsys, NEC, etc.

Students also get internship offers. Microsoft offers internship programs in IP from 3rd year.

One of my friends is currently pursuing B.Tech at CIC DU and he applied for MSIT IPU as well. Firstly CIC is not a college and more of an Innovation Centre or Entrepreneurship Cell whereas MSIT is a college that uses the same mechanism procedure.

A brief overview of both institutions are tabulated below:

Categories

MIST IPU

DU CIC

Course Fee

4.69 lakh

40,000

Placement Percentage

70%

30%

Highest CTC

8-10 LPA

-

Average CTC

6-7 LPA

13-15 LPA

The difference lies in the approach of how they educate and guide students.

  • CIC DU being an innovation hub is focused on different aspects of research, startups, and the linkage to the real-life aspects of the problem and their suitable solution.
  • It mainly focuses on the practical aspect and encourages knowledge to be used in daily tasks.
  • They have world-class labs which are better than almost any college. It has a well-developed Robotics lab with 3D printing which stands out.
  • There is continuous funding from Delhi University for all the research work, startups, projects, and everything.
  • During summers compulsory internships are said to be done so as to give better exposure to the students for the lying problems.

When compared to other colleges, the syllabus is a lot more than normal colleges. Students have the task of at least 6 projects per semester with learning more than 5 languages and different simulations at a time like Scilab, Matlab, C++, etc.

CIC might not have a placement cell that backs you up with projects and careers but if you work hard independently there, you can definitely secure a job.

Yes, you can do so. But you can only do that once you are in your 2nd year by the procedure known as the migration process. In this, you can change your college and shift too.

  • For intra-college migration, i.e. migration within the college, you have to score at least 78 CPI, it is based on the credit score for each subject.
  • In GGSIPU you get credit for each subject. The credit system is such that each subject has certain credits for e.g. Eco is given 4 credits, Accountancy 1, and so on. After the result, each subject is marked and multiplied against credits like if you scored 80 out of 100 in Eco, your credits are 80×4, i.e. 360. The rest of the credits are summed up to get CPI.
  • CPI is used for up-gradation. All the up-gradation is totally based on 1st-semester marks. You have to fill an up-gradation form and have to submit it on the official website. There are usually 3-5 seats in each branch for up-gradation and for this you have to be among the toppers.

Migration from one college to another does take place too. You have to score really well for the same. The information regarding inter-college migration can be found on the official website.

In terms of academics, placements, and other factors, MSIT Delhi is better than MAIT.

  • Due to the rigorous academic schedule and strict attendance rules of MSIT, it ranks higher in academics.
  • MSIT has a better placement record. In 2021, Google offered the highest CTC of INR 55 LPA. The average CTC usually stays around 5-6 LPA.
  • It has a great student crowd.

MSIT has a location advantage as well as the campus is located near the Janakpuri district centre.

MAIT and MSIT both are well-known colleges. Both of the colleges have good placements, faculties, and the right exposure for the students. However, it all comes down to you. If the subject is your preference then you should go for CSE because CSE is more preferable to IT. If placement and package are your preference then you should join MAIT since it is way better than MSIT in every way possible.

Here’s a brief comparison of the two institutes.

Parameters

IT at MAIT

CSE at MSIT

Average CTC

3.50 LPA

4 LPA

Highest CTC

28 LPA

11.4 LPA

Course Fee

5.73 lakhs

5.26 lakhs

MAIT has better recognition than MSIT. More companies visit MAIT and recruit students with packages more than an MSIT student receives. CSE and IT branches have no major difference in curriculum and career choices are also almost the same so therefore the finalization comes down to colleges performance and status in which MAIT leads the way.

I have a friend from MAIT and he has better knowledge about the branch change at the institute. Here is what he had to say.

If you want to upgrade your seat from one branch to another you need to work hard and get a good percentage(80+). Then only you will upgrade your seat.

During or after the end term exams of the 2nd semester the university will release forms to change branches. After getting the form you have to fill in the details and submit the form to your college administration.

Within the span of a week, the university will release the list of students' names who applied for the upgrade. Check your details if there is any mistake, consult the college administration.

After a few days, the new list will be released by the university regarding the branch upgrade. Once your desired branch is upgraded, you should visit the dean of the college and he will discuss further formalities regarding the branch upgradation.

Choose MSIT if you want to prioritize degree value over cost. Otherwise, go with SRM. MSIT CSE placements are excellent, but if you live in a politically neutral environment with large campuses, consider SRM, Chennai.

Technical societies, such as IEEE, are very active, and if you are fortunate enough to be a part of them, it is better for you in terms of placement and 'knowledge building.

If you are serious about expanding your knowledge, there are a few amazing teachers as well as seniors who can assist and guide you. It is entirely up to you to make the most of the available opportunities.

One of my friends is a final year student at MAIT - IT. And here is some statistics provided by him, which I think will clear your doubts.

  • Several students from MSIT, more than even a 100, are seen to regularly participate in online coding contests. You check on Codechef to find out the ratings, participants, and various similar information. Apart from that, students actively participate in various other platforms like TopCoder, SPOJ, Codeforce, HackerRank, and more. MAIT has many great programmers.
  • You will encounter many such individuals on campus who are preparing for examinations like GRE, GATE, CAT, and more.
  • The same students are also involved in several clubs and societies, besides initiating blueprints of their own startup. This is despite managing above 80% academically.
  • Students also engage in sports like football, cricket, badminton, and various others.

You can have hobbies and maintain your academic profile side by side. It depends on whether or not you are interested in accomplishing it.

My brother is an alumnus of Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology (MSIT) and he has some insight regarding the placements at the institute.

  • Most of the companies that visit the campus placement usually offer IT job profiles.
  • Some of the top recruiters in terms of numbers of offers are HCL, TCS, Cognizant, etc. Although most of these companies offer placements through the off-campus drive, the college helps the students regarding the whole process.
  • Microsoft also selects students through internship programs.

Here is the recent placement highlight of the institute.

MSIT is definitely better than BPIT when it comes to computer science engineering. BPIT is not that bad but not as good when compared to MSIT.

Placements at BPIT are getting better each year but MSIT is still leading. The table below should provide you with a better perspective on the same:

College name

Average package

Highest package

Hiring companies

MSIT

INR 4 to 8 LPA

INR 21 LPA

MU Sigma, Jaro Education, Amazon, Google, Ion Trading

BPIT

INR 3.95 LPA

INR 10 LPA

HSBC, BYJU’s, Mavenhive, Hashedin Technologies, Infosys

Overall, there isn’t much difference between the two colleges. If you are planning to pursue your post-graduate studies, the college will probably not matter but your studies definitely will. You should also take into account the distance you might have to travel every day which could play a major role.

My suggestion to you would be to write down the pros and cons of both the colleges and see which matters more. Is it the college name or the college stream?
