It entirely depends on your future plan. If you can afford Nirma and don’t have any plan to pursue further studies after B.Tech then go for Nirma University.

However, if you want to pursue higher education, and you have confidence that you can learn on your own, then LD will definitely be a better choice.

LD gives its students a lot of freedom to work on their interests while maintaining their CGPA which plays a huge amount of role in further studies.

The other factor that is crucial is the alumni of the college. LD College alumni network is huge and a lot of notable alumni are based in both India and abroad. When talking about alumni, Nirma stands no chance as LD was established way before Nirma.

Here is a brief comparison of the institutes.

Category Nirma University LD
Companies Visited L&T, Biocon, Dabur, etc. Atul, Adani, Tata Chemicals, etc.
Highest Package 46.27 LPA 10 LPA
Average Package 8 LPA 4 LPA

Therefore, you should take your decision thoroughly and wisely whether you must spend approximately eight lakhs for four years or you should spend 6000 for four years with one institution being older than the others along with huge alumni and a great brand name.

One of my friends studied at LD College of Engineering. According to him, L. D. has everything to make you comfortable, be it sports, culture, fests, festivals, space, etc. You are able to participate in anything you want.

Here are some things that might help you know the college a bit better -

  • Take part in clubs. The main ones are Robocon and Vox populi.
  • Go for interviews for your recruitment. Don't regret it if you didn't get it the first time. There will be plenty of second opportunities.
  • Take part in the college's cultural and technical party.
  • The canteen is not so clean and clean, but you have to learn to adjust. It is open 24*7.
  • You can always come in and go out. Nobody will invite you for night-outs.
  • You're going to have a PG having a lot of constraints in the immediate vicinity.
  • You can take part in NCC or to an NGO which conducts hiking camps.
  • LD has an enormous campus, a decent budget canteen. There's the first essence of collegiate freedom, so make sure that you don't miss it.

One important thing is that you will have new teachers, new friends, a new environment and it will be an opportunity to break your personality. Be confident and be ready to stand up to what you are dreaming about in real engineering life.

After doing some research online about these colleges, I found out that mostly students prefer DDU. It would be better in all the ways from campus to placements.

  • The campus of DDU is very good. The infrastructure is well developed.
  • All the required facilities are provided and they are fully functional.
  • The labs are well maintained.
  • The teaching faculty is very good and much better than LD and MSU.
  • The academic curriculum at DDU is better than LD and MSU.
  • Companies such as Infosys, GSFC, Reliance, Wipro visit for hiring.

You may also want to know that why they do not prefer LD:

  • It is a Government institute and it comes under Gujarat Technological University. The exams are conducted at odd timings.
  • The schedule is not followed well and vacations are not given at the proper time.
  • The students do not get time to learn anything or do internships.
  • The labs are poorly maintained and not functional.
  • The teaching faculties are not good and supportive. Students have to do self study.
  • The only advantage of studying at LD is that it gets a good number of companies as it comes under GTU. Companies such as TCS, Accenture, Cybage, Persistence, HSBC, elite core, Wipro, matrix visits for hiring.

The students passing out from DDU have more skills and knowledge compared to other students. So, overall, DDU would be a better option.

One of my friends, being part of the institute, has adequate information about it. Here is what he has to say,

Infrastructure:

  • There are five blocks (A, B, C, D, H) built for the boys and G blocks for the girls.
  • These blocks were constructed quite a long time ago and are currently under the renovation phase with better facilities expected to be equipped.
  • The only new block for the boys is the H-block and it definitely has better infrastructure than the rest.
  • There are two other buildings which are also under construction. It is expected that the two buildings will be constructed within the following 2 years.

Food Facility:

  • The food facilities at the several messes will only cost Rs. 45. Nonetheless, there are 4 messes and you can choose one among any of them.
  • There are other facilities like the Tiffin facility. It can usually be availed from various local Tiffin suppliers.

Study Facilities:

  • The college library can be availed mostly every time for study purposes.
  • It can be a very good option during or prior to your examinations.
  • It is open from 8 A.M to 12 A.M.

Other Important Facilities:

  • Other necessary items, like RO water and coolers, are available for students at the hostel as well.
  • There are various solar water heaters equipped in each of the blocks.
  • The electricity bills of the hostels are generally paid by the government.

The advantage of it all is that all these facilities can be availed at only Rs. 1200 per year. The main upside of the hostel is that the seniors in it are known to be very helpful and most of them are friendly.

Let’s do a basic comparison between the two universities first.

Accreditation: MSU is an autonomous university whereas LDCE comes under ACPC

Infrastructure: MSU has an upper hand in this aspect as its infrastructure is way better than LDCE.

Marking pattern: MSU follows a very tough marking scheme and therefore makes it difficult for students to get good CGPAs.

Placements: The placements of both universities are equally good. I have tabulated the placement statistics below to draw a clearer comparison.

Particulars

MSU

LDCE

Number of Companies

30+

148

Number of Students placed

90

787

Highest CTC

INR 4 LPA

INR 10 LPA

Top Recruiters

Standard Radiators Pvt. Ltd., Caparo India Pvt. Ltd., Nayara Energy

Accenture, Cairn India, Vedanta Group, MG Motors, Adani Group, etc

At LDCE offers were made from industries like Oil, Gas, Power, Fertilizer, IT sector, Automobile, Chemical, Petrochemical, etc.

Personally, I feel overall MSU is a better option. It has some additional features that set it apart from LDCE. These include

  • Much better hostel facilities than LDCE
  • 3 major technological and social events are held every year that boost your extracurricular activities.
  • The faculty at MSU is top notch with great learned and experienced professors.

So Chemical Engineering at MSU Baroda is a better option.

It depends on the course you are willing to pursue. As one of my friends is an alumni of MSU and also knows about LD, I can help you with the question.

According to him, if you are willing to study engineering then MSU would be a better choice than LD. The overall academics and curriculum is better at MSU, whereas LD has a somewhat better reputation among industries than MSU. Therefore, placements are better in LD.

But if you think you can secure a job offer by yourself go for MSU as they will provide you with the proper academic guidance.

Categories LD Ahmedabad MSU Baroda
Placement Percentage 80% 60%
Highest CTC 10 LPA 8 LPA
Average CTC 4.50 LPA 4-5 LPA
Recruiting Companies Accenture, Wipro, IBM, HCL, etc. L&T, Essar, Infosys, Reliance, etc.

Also if location is your preference then if you are near to Vadodara go for MSU and if you are close to Ahmedabad go for LD.

If you can afford it, go for it. Because it is a bustling green campus with 40 odd colleges, you will have an unforgettable experience. Placements used to be nice, but they’ve taken a hit recently; however, they’re still good if you’re good at studies (scoring 6.5 CGPA).

LD is also a good college, but it’s not better than BVM, aside from the affordable fees and the fact that it’s in Ahmedabad.

You should also know that LD College and BVM are Engineering colleges. Whereas, Sardar Patel University V.V. Nagar provides B.Sc., M.Sc., and other non-engineering courses.

Now, here’s a comparison of BVM and LD that will give you get a better picture.

  • In terms of education, BVM is superior to LD. The faculty at BVM is the most experienced and knowledgeable. LD, on the other hand, is not well-known for its educational offerings. Lectures are not given on time, and attendance is never an issue in LD.
  • In terms of placement, more companies visit LD than BVM, but if you are good enough and have good grades and aptitude, you will be placed at either college. According to the recent placement highlights the average CTC offered at LD College of Engineering is 4 LPA.
  • The LD campus is much larger than the BVM campus, but both colleges’ infrastructure is very old, whereas the BVM campus has all necessary student facilities.
  • If you want to live in a city and experience city life, choose LD; if you want to live in a peaceful environment with all necessary infrastructure, choose BVM.

Overall, I would recommend BVM.
