admission process was quite long with several rounds. I took the entrance exams of JEE and GUJCET to crack the eligibility for admission. The eligibility for the course is that one should have opted for PCM i.e.; physics, chemistry, and maths for the 12th studies and should have secured at least 45% or above respectively. And it's quite easy to get admission in this course due to fewer percentile criteria in entrance exams For application dates, fees, and forms one can visit the department or students section of the college for better clarity or can view it online on several platforms like collegedunia.com, etc. for further help.

Admission process in Ldce through ACPC(admission committee of professionals). We have to fill online form and need to fill it out. I got admission on base of the results GUJCAT+Gujrat board exam and students also apply on the base of the results of the JEE +gujrat board exam. One thing I want to suggest to ACPC the admission process is a little bit lengthy so I request that ACPC improve it.

Which is better Nirma university or LD?

By Sanovar Lohiaon 16 Jul 21
IM

Ishika Mitra

16 Jul 21B.Tech. Civil Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Raipur (2017)
~

It entirely depends on your future plan. If you can afford Nirma and don’t have any plan to pursue further studies after B.Tech then go for Nirma University.

However, if you want to pursue higher education, and you have confidence that you can learn on your own, then LD will definitely be a better choice.

LD gives its students a lot of freedom to work on their interests while maintaining their CGPA which plays a huge amount of role in further studies.

The other factor that is crucial is the alumni of the college. LD College alumni network is huge and a lot of notable alumni are based in both India and abroad. When talking about alumni, Nirma stands no chance as LD was established way before Nirma.

Here is a brief comparison of the institutes.

Category Nirma University LD
Companies Visited L&T, Biocon, Dabur, etc. Atul, Adani, Tata Chemicals, etc.
Highest Package 46.27 LPA 10 LPA
Average Package 8 LPA 4 LPA

Therefore, you should take your decision thoroughly and wisely whether you must spend approximately eight lakhs for four years or you should spend 6000 for four years with one institution being older than the others along with huge alumni and a great brand name.

Diploma students require 18 STPI out of 20, in order to get admission into LD College of Engineering, Ahmedabad. STPI is the average SPI of the last two semesters' results of Diploma Engineering. Naturally, the required SPI varies, depending on the branch and seat availability.

For students applying after 12th, LD College of Engineering admission is through GUJCET.

16 Jun 21B.E. Instrumentation, and Control, Lalbhai Dalpatbhai College of Engineering (2018)

One of my friends studied at LD College of Engineering. According to him, L. D. has everything to make you comfortable, be it sports, culture, fests, festivals, space, etc. You are able to participate in anything you want.

Here are some things that might help you know the college a bit better -

  • Take part in clubs. The main ones are Robocon and Vox populi.
  • Go for interviews for your recruitment. Don't regret it if you didn't get it the first time. There will be plenty of second opportunities.
  • Take part in the college's cultural and technical party.
  • The canteen is not so clean and clean, but you have to learn to adjust. It is open 24*7.
  • You can always come in and go out. Nobody will invite you for night-outs.
  • You're going to have a PG having a lot of constraints in the immediate vicinity.
  • You can take part in NCC or to an NGO which conducts hiking camps.
  • LD has an enormous campus, a decent budget canteen. There's the first essence of collegiate freedom, so make sure that you don't miss it.

One important thing is that you will have new teachers, new friends, a new environment and it will be an opportunity to break your personality. Be confident and be ready to stand up to what you are dreaming about in real engineering life.

AS

Arzoo Saini

16 Jun 21B.E. from Lalbhai Dalpatbhai College of Engineering (2018)

At LD College of Engineering, you will find various kinds of clubs and committees and develop skills that will help you in your career. The various types of clubs and committees in this college are as follows:

  1. Mind palace quizzing club: There are quizzing competitions organized by the club and students from all over Gujarat participate in these quizzes. The sessions are organized every month. Members of this club have won prestigious quizzes like the Tata Crucible quiz, Sweden India Novel memorial quiz, etc.
  2. Vox Populi Magazine: You can also become part of this magazine and produce content for this magazine. This magazine is of the college which consists of articles, poems, success stories, technical marvels, etc. You can take part in the development team and enhance your creative skills. The team conducts monthly surveys and the recruitments are conducted annually.
  3. Vox populi club: This club will help you in developing networks, connections, develop social and communication skills. There are various kinds of events and activities that take place in this group. This group remains active throughout the year.
  4. Robocon club: This club conducts various kinds of fun events, technical events like robotics competitions. They also conduct mock placement, industrial visits, technical quiz etc.
  5. Adventure club: The name of this group has been derived from adventure and nature. This club aims at developing awareness about biodiversity, saving the environment, and developing innovative methods for saving the environment.

Apart from all these clubs and groups, you can also join NSS and Healthy campus if you are interested in social servicing. You can also become a volunteer, event manager, and coordinator in Lakshya fest or in GTU Tech fest.

13 Oct 21B.E. Computer Engineering, Lalbhai Dalpatbhai College of Engineering (2016)

After doing some research online about these colleges, I found out that mostly students prefer DDU. It would be better in all the ways from campus to placements.

  • The campus of DDU is very good. The infrastructure is well developed.
  • All the required facilities are provided and they are fully functional.
  • The labs are well maintained.
  • The teaching faculty is very good and much better than LD and MSU.
  • The academic curriculum at DDU is better than LD and MSU.
  • Companies such as Infosys, GSFC, Reliance, Wipro visit for hiring.

You may also want to know that why they do not prefer LD:

  • It is a Government institute and it comes under Gujarat Technological University. The exams are conducted at odd timings.
  • The schedule is not followed well and vacations are not given at the proper time.
  • The students do not get time to learn anything or do internships.
  • The labs are poorly maintained and not functional.
  • The teaching faculties are not good and supportive. Students have to do self study.
  • The only advantage of studying at LD is that it gets a good number of companies as it comes under GTU. Companies such as TCS, Accenture, Cybage, Persistence, HSBC, elite core, Wipro, matrix visits for hiring.

The students passing out from DDU have more skills and knowledge compared to other students. So, overall, DDU would be a better option.

Ranita Raghav

08 Jun 21Studied Bachelor of Engineering Degrees at Lalbhai Dalpatbhai College of Engineering (2019)

One of my friends, being part of the institute, has adequate information about it. Here is what he has to say,

Infrastructure:

  • There are five blocks (A, B, C, D, H) built for the boys and G blocks for the girls.
  • These blocks were constructed quite a long time ago and are currently under the renovation phase with better facilities expected to be equipped.
  • The only new block for the boys is the H-block and it definitely has better infrastructure than the rest.
  • There are two other buildings which are also under construction. It is expected that the two buildings will be constructed within the following 2 years.

Food Facility:

  • The food facilities at the several messes will only cost Rs. 45. Nonetheless, there are 4 messes and you can choose one among any of them.
  • There are other facilities like the Tiffin facility. It can usually be availed from various local Tiffin suppliers.

Study Facilities:

  • The college library can be availed mostly every time for study purposes.
  • It can be a very good option during or prior to your examinations.
  • It is open from 8 A.M to 12 A.M.

Other Important Facilities:

  • Other necessary items, like RO water and coolers, are available for students at the hostel as well.
  • There are various solar water heaters equipped in each of the blocks.
  • The electricity bills of the hostels are generally paid by the government.

The advantage of it all is that all these facilities can be availed at only Rs. 1200 per year. The main upside of the hostel is that the seniors in it are known to be very helpful and most of them are friendly.

Which college is better, LD or MSU Baroda?

By Rishabh Rahejaon 22 Dec 21
PT

Piya Thakker

22 Dec 21BE from The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda (2022)

It depends on the course you are willing to pursue. As one of my friends is an alumni of MSU and also knows about LD, I can help you with the question.

According to him, if you are willing to study engineering then MSU would be a better choice than LD. The overall academics and curriculum is better at MSU, whereas LD has a somewhat better reputation among industries than MSU. Therefore, placements are better in LD.

But if you think you can secure a job offer by yourself go for MSU as they will provide you with the proper academic guidance.

Categories LD Ahmedabad MSU Baroda
Placement Percentage 80% 60%
Highest CTC 10 LPA 8 LPA
Average CTC 4.50 LPA 4-5 LPA
Recruiting Companies Accenture, Wipro, IBM, HCL, etc. L&T, Essar, Infosys, Reliance, etc.

Also if location is your preference then if you are near to Vadodara go for MSU and if you are close to Ahmedabad go for LD.

06 Oct 21B.E. Instrumentation and Control, Lalbhai Dalpatbhai College of Engineering (2016)

If you can afford it, go for it. Because it is a bustling green campus with 40 odd colleges, you will have an unforgettable experience. Placements used to be nice, but they’ve taken a hit recently; however, they’re still good if you’re good at studies (scoring 6.5 CGPA).

LD is also a good college, but it’s not better than BVM, aside from the affordable fees and the fact that it’s in Ahmedabad.

You should also know that LD College and BVM are Engineering colleges. Whereas, Sardar Patel University V.V. Nagar provides B.Sc., M.Sc., and other non-engineering courses.

Now, here’s a comparison of BVM and LD that will give you get a better picture.

  • In terms of education, BVM is superior to LD. The faculty at BVM is the most experienced and knowledgeable. LD, on the other hand, is not well-known for its educational offerings. Lectures are not given on time, and attendance is never an issue in LD.
  • In terms of placement, more companies visit LD than BVM, but if you are good enough and have good grades and aptitude, you will be placed at either college. According to the recent placement highlights the average CTC offered at LD College of Engineering is 4 LPA.
  • The LD campus is much larger than the BVM campus, but both colleges’ infrastructure is very old, whereas the BVM campus has all necessary student facilities.
  • If you want to live in a city and experience city life, choose LD; if you want to live in a peaceful environment with all necessary infrastructure, choose BVM.

Overall, I would recommend BVM.

PU

Pushpa Upadhyay

31 May 21B.E. in Computer Engineer from Lalbhai Dalpatbhai College of Engineering (2018)

My colleague did his B.Tech from LD College of Engineering. Based on the interaction I had with him, it was an altogether delightful experience. He shared some insights with me which might be helpful.

Advantages:

  • Attendance is not mandatory.
  • All the faculty members are very well qualified, knowledgeable, and student-friendly.
  • Seminars and workshops are organized very often for the development of the students.
  • Hostel rules are strict for girls to ensure their safety. However, for the boys’ hostel, there is no curfew time, you can come and leave anytime you want.
  • The college organizes many events like Sports week, Techfest, Lakshya, Khshitij, Kaizen, etc.
  • There are only 2 exams conducted for each subject every semester: mid sem and final exam. In this way, students can enjoy their college life too.
  • The reading hall is spacious and full of lights and with Ethernet connectivity.
  • There is no mandatory dress code; you can wear whatever you want.
  • The college has a placement rate of 60%. Highest CTC offered is 12 LPA.

Drawbacks:

  • The college infrastructure is very old, and cannot compete with the modern days' classroom and amenities.
  • The classrooms are also very old. During monsoon season, the classroom ceiling leaks sometimes.
  • The campus has no WiFi connectivity.
  • Even though the mess is available, the students almost never get quality food.

LD College of Engineering is the best government college in Gujarat and is as good as Nirma University. You will enjoy your time there.
