LD College is a reputed college with many notable alumni. I have a few friends at the institute and they were able to help me with some names of such notable alumni.
Apart from the mentioned names, there are many more. You can visit the official website of the institute to know more about them.
It entirely depends on your future plan. If you can afford Nirma and don’t have any plan to pursue further studies after B.Tech then go for Nirma University.
However, if you want to pursue higher education, and you have confidence that you can learn on your own, then LD will definitely be a better choice.
LD gives its students a lot of freedom to work on their interests while maintaining their CGPA which plays a huge amount of role in further studies.
The other factor that is crucial is the alumni of the college. LD College alumni network is huge and a lot of notable alumni are based in both India and abroad. When talking about alumni, Nirma stands no chance as LD was established way before Nirma.
Here is a brief comparison of the institutes.
Category | Nirma University | LD |
Companies Visited | L&T, Biocon, Dabur, etc. | Atul, Adani, Tata Chemicals, etc. |
Highest Package | 46.27 LPA | 10 LPA |
Average Package | 8 LPA | 4 LPA |
Therefore, you should take your decision thoroughly and wisely whether you must spend approximately eight lakhs for four years or you should spend 6000 for four years with one institution being older than the others along with huge alumni and a great brand name.
Diploma students require 18 STPI out of 20, in order to get admission into LD College of Engineering, Ahmedabad. STPI is the average SPI of the last two semesters' results of Diploma Engineering. Naturally, the required SPI varies, depending on the branch and seat availability.
For students applying after 12th, LD College of Engineering admission is through GUJCET.
One of my friends studied at LD College of Engineering. According to him, L. D. has everything to make you comfortable, be it sports, culture, fests, festivals, space, etc. You are able to participate in anything you want.
Here are some things that might help you know the college a bit better -
One important thing is that you will have new teachers, new friends, a new environment and it will be an opportunity to break your personality. Be confident and be ready to stand up to what you are dreaming about in real engineering life.
At LD College of Engineering, you will find various kinds of clubs and committees and develop skills that will help you in your career. The various types of clubs and committees in this college are as follows:
Apart from all these clubs and groups, you can also join NSS and Healthy campus if you are interested in social servicing. You can also become a volunteer, event manager, and coordinator in Lakshya fest or in GTU Tech fest.
After doing some research online about these colleges, I found out that mostly students prefer DDU. It would be better in all the ways from campus to placements.
You may also want to know that why they do not prefer LD:
The students passing out from DDU have more skills and knowledge compared to other students. So, overall, DDU would be a better option.
One of my friends, being part of the institute, has adequate information about it. Here is what he has to say,
Infrastructure:
Food Facility:
Study Facilities:
Other Important Facilities:
The advantage of it all is that all these facilities can be availed at only Rs. 1200 per year. The main upside of the hostel is that the seniors in it are known to be very helpful and most of them are friendly.
Let’s do a basic comparison between the two universities first.
Accreditation: MSU is an autonomous university whereas LDCE comes under ACPC
Infrastructure: MSU has an upper hand in this aspect as its infrastructure is way better than LDCE.
Marking pattern: MSU follows a very tough marking scheme and therefore makes it difficult for students to get good CGPAs.
Placements: The placements of both universities are equally good. I have tabulated the placement statistics below to draw a clearer comparison.
Particulars |
MSU |
LDCE |

At LDCE offers were made from industries like Oil, Gas, Power, Fertilizer, IT sector, Automobile, Chemical, Petrochemical, etc.
Personally, I feel overall MSU is a better option. It has some additional features that set it apart from LDCE. These include
So Chemical Engineering at MSU Baroda is a better option.
It depends on the course you are willing to pursue. As one of my friends is an alumni of MSU and also knows about LD, I can help you with the question.
According to him, if you are willing to study engineering then MSU would be a better choice than LD. The overall academics and curriculum is better at MSU, whereas LD has a somewhat better reputation among industries than MSU. Therefore, placements are better in LD.
But if you think you can secure a job offer by yourself go for MSU as they will provide you with the proper academic guidance.
Categories | LD Ahmedabad | MSU Baroda |
Placement Percentage | 80% | 60% |
Highest CTC | 10 LPA | 8 LPA |
Average CTC | 4.50 LPA | 4-5 LPA |

Also if location is your preference then if you are near to Vadodara go for MSU and if you are close to Ahmedabad go for LD.
If you can afford it, go for it. Because it is a bustling green campus with 40 odd colleges, you will have an unforgettable experience. Placements used to be nice, but they’ve taken a hit recently; however, they’re still good if you’re good at studies (scoring 6.5 CGPA).
LD is also a good college, but it’s not better than BVM, aside from the affordable fees and the fact that it’s in Ahmedabad.
You should also know that LD College and BVM are Engineering colleges. Whereas, Sardar Patel University V.V. Nagar provides B.Sc., M.Sc., and other non-engineering courses.
Now, here’s a comparison of BVM and LD that will give you get a better picture.
Overall, I would recommend BVM.
