Ques
In terms of placement, faculty and infrastructure which one is better for CSE: Kalyani Government Engineering College or Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College?

● Top Answer By Joyita Ghosh on 05 May 21

Ans
A friend of mine has told me that CSE in Kalyani Government Engineering College is better than that in Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College. It can be owed to the location of both places. Kalyani is an IT hub and it is not far from Kolkata. On the other hand, it will take you twelve hours to reach Jalpaiguri from Kolkata by train. It goes without saying that CSE of Kalyani Government Engineering College is better and obviously more preferred to that of Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College. The placements in both colleges are pretty much the same. The average package of both colleges is around 3.5 LPA in IT companies. It has to be said that more students get placed from KGEC. KGEC is the more sought after institute because it attracts the better-ranked students. Most of the students whose ranks are under 3000 are from Kolkata, Hooghly, North 24 and South 24 Parganas regions. The faculty and infrastructure of both institutions are also pretty much similar. Ques
Which engineering college is better, northeastern NITs, IEM Kolkata, or KGEC?

● Top Answer By Ritambhar Roy Chowdhury on 16 Apr 21

Ans
When choosing an engineering college, it is always somewhat better to have your options, but at the same time, stick to government-run institutes. That clarifies most of the issues here. NIT Silchar and NIT Tripura are both prominent institutes to choose from.  Few others, unlike them, are mostly on the higher lists of popularity because they have their name inculcated as NIT. However, you should never feel left out if in any case you do not get acknowledged on grounds of NIT. The other best possible option, just second to NIT, is KGEC.  Although, there is a short list of people who actually end up recommending any private institutes in lands of West Bengal. If you anyhow need to get enrolled in any of the private institutions, then going to institutes that are deemed well known, such as SRM, KIIT, Manipal can be some other good options from your pocket. Categories NITs (North-Eastern) IEM Kolkata KGEC Course Fee (approx.) 5.42 lakhs 5.83 lakhs 1.06 lakhs Placement Percentage (overall) 60-75% 85% 70-80% Highest CTC 23 LPA 20 LPA 15 LPA Average CTC 7.8 LPA 9 LPA 5 LPA Recruiting Companies Tech Mahindra, Amazon, TCS, Microsoft, Infosys, etc. Byju's, Amazon, Goldman Sachs, Airbus etc. TCS, EY, Amazon, Accenture, Wipro, etc. If not any of them, then choose going to COMEDK or try enrolling in other renowned private colleges in Bangalore, some of which are RV College of Engineering, PES Institute of Technology, BMS College of Engineering and MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology. There is another information yet to share which is, unlike BITS-Pilani, BIT-Mesra and MIT-Manipal,IEM is known to admit various students through management quota which is rather not the case for many other prestigious private engineering institutes. But, as mentioned earlier, getting to choose from a handful of governmental institutes are better than the latter. However, options other than those few are opened as well.

Ques
Which one would be better: production in Jadavpur university, power in Jadavpur university, mechanical in Jalpaiguri, or government engineering or mechanical in Kalyani govt. engineering?

● Top Answer By Madhurima Banerjee on 22 Oct 21

Ans
Choose the course that interests you, college is a secondary thing. Here are some of the facts that may help you in choosing the right branch for you. If you want to work in PSUs or Govt. sectors, it’s better to not choose Production Engineering as there are fewer recruiters. Jadavpur is the best college you can get through WBJEE. If you choose Production or Power in JU, you will have good on-campus job opportunities. Production Engineering is a branch of Mechanical Engineering itself. The syllabus will be more or less the same.  Mechanical at Kalyani University will be slightly better than Jalpaiguri. You may not get lucrative job packages at on-campus placement from Kalyani University but in the long run, you will have a much better hold with your Mechanical degree. You can expect well-paid jobs in the future.  Your future will depend on the branch you are choosing so choose according to your interest. All these Universities will offer you enough opportunities and resources to prosper. It’s up to you to use that well.

Ques
Which option is better Chemical Engineering at the University of Calcutta or Electrical Engineering at Kalyani Government Engineering College?

● Top Answer By Shivangi Batra on 04 Oct 21

Ans
University of Calcutta and Kalyani Government Engineering College are both terrific colleges. There are certain precise points that draw out the best in these institutes. Faculty: Both the institutes have well-established faculty units. Kalyani Government Engineering College has around 9 faculty members in electrical engineering whereas the University of Calcutta has more than 12 faculty members in the chemical engineering department. Academics: The academics at KGEC is decent and the labs are well equipped too. The electrical department is one of the most relaxed branches and does not burden students with assignments. The students are provided with higher marks in practical papers in comparison to other branches. The major GATE rankers at KGEC are from the electrical engineering department. Higher Studies: Electrical engineering being a core branch provides better offers to you than chemical engineering. This branch makes available more seats in the government sector. Placement: CU provides more placement opportunities than KGEC. The 4-year B. Tech course even provides an almost similar level of placements and sometimes even better. Since this concerns your career, you must take some time before concluding a decision. Whichever branch you opt for it is you who has to study for 4 years, therefore, make a wise choice that you would not regret later.

Ques
Which is better power engineering at Jadavpur University or computer science engineering at the Kalyani Government Engineering College?

● Top Answer By Natasha Sinha on 04 Oct 21

Ans
Jadavpur University is a terrific institution with a high rating. It has a well-established engineering faculty. Although the standard of education is gradually losing its mark, you tend to learn more from the people you surround yourself with rather than the superlative courses. If you are interested in CSE then it is suggested that you learn more about the faculty at Kalyani Government Engineering College. It is undoubtedly a good institute but rethink your enrollment here. KGEC will require you to make sacrifices and to sweat it out with concerted effort towards learning the subject in the classroom all by yourself. If you are hesitant about CSE then opt for power plant engineering. If your indecisiveness is because of the famous university and CSE you should keep in mind that the name of the university matters only to a limited extent.

Ques
Which one is better to choose Jadavpur University in civil engineering or Kalyani Government College for CSE?

● Top Answer By Dev Taneja on 04 Oct 21

Ans
Civil Engineering and CSE are the trendiest branches as reckoned by the leading companies. If you will opt for a better college over a preferred branch for pursuing engineering then it is suggested to switch your opinion.  Seeing this, you must choose Civil Engineering at Jadavpur University over KGEC. Following are the reasons for choosing the same: The faculty at Jadavpur University is comparatively better than Kalyani Government College. They are well-experienced and most of the faculty members hold a doctorate degree.  The student crowd at JU is helping and competitive. One of the main highlights is the students’ club in the university. You will receive good exposure. Although the placement scenario for the civil industry is deteriorating in the entire nation, it is still better to take it up at Jadavpur University than Kalyani for CSE.  The mass recruiters are mainly limited to companies such as TCS, Infosys, etc. at Kalyani. Whereas in JU, you would be able to opt for financing and consultancy firms as well. They certainly provide contenting packages. It is suggested that you choose your preferred stream if you ultimately have planned on pursuing higher studies like GATE, GRE, etc. If you are planning on doing MBA or some job then JU would be the best fit.  You should keep in mind that the name tag of your undergraduate institute always stays with you hence choose wisely.

Ques
Which one is better for studying CSE, Calcutta University or Kalyani Government Engineering College?

● Top Answer By Lahama Biswas on 01 Oct 21

Ans
The University of Calcutta is a self-governing or autonomous institution, while Kalyani Government Engineering College is governed by MAKAUT. The various departments of the CU have a better reputation among the student communities of India. The potential that the University of Calcutta has for the CSE department can prove to be extremely beneficial for your career.  The course is structured in a research-oriented manner that can help prepare the students for any job interview after the completion of the course.  During the 4 years for which you get enrolled in the CSE department of CU, you will acquire a sufficient amount of knowledge and skills necessary to clear almost any type of job interview.  Most of the students at the University prefer to go abroad for research purposes.  In universities abroad, the degree that you would acquire from CU would hold high importance among your batch mates.  The CSE department has many affiliations with foreign universities that can help you in securing a seat for admission easily for your research along with a scholarship hopefully.  It’s totally up to you whether you wish to enroll in a world-renowned University like CU or you want to study at a state-funded college which in this case is KGEC.

Ques
Which one is better to choose between Kalyani Government Engineering College and University of Calcutta for the WBJEE, if one cant get Jadavpur University?

● Top Answer By Krutika Dutta on 01 Oct 21

Ans
If you solely consider studies as the basis of the selection of an institute for your career, I don't believe there will be much of a difference.  The chief difference arises because the colleges were established at different times.  As time goes on, new clubs emerge at institutes that improve with time, the festival improves, and norms and culture unique to the college change over a period of time.  Because CU's engineering programs are newer, they may have certain disadvantages for several fields.  You may claim that you are unconcerned about everything other than your academics, but once you enroll in a college, you will realize how vital everything is.  Kalyani College does have a far larger student body than CU, you will have a diverse group of students in your batch.  Also remember, that usually everyone despises their own university no matter how good or bad it in reality is. You surely would not want a gloomy college experience. So do your homework before deciding on an institution.
