I am a student in the Electrical Engineering Department. If I focus on my course only, I can easily say that the faculty members are hard-working. They take regular class tests and assignments. They are well qualified and put in a lot of effort for the students. Though exceptions may arise every time.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose Btech in electrical engineering because this allows me to go to core sector jobs as well as IT jobs. The student-to-faculty ratio is 18:1 in our department. The professors are all PhD and master qualified. Just like any other college, some teachers are very good at their skills while others struggle a bit at teaching but overall it depends on the student. The class tests carry high importance and are done timely and the finals are also done timely and can be passed with a decent effort but for good marks, more than a decent effort is required.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because Civil Engineering has a vast field, it's totally based on knowing nature because Civil engineering basically means working with nature for the betterment of society. There are almost 40 faculty and AEC has around 100 students each year. Most of the faculties are Mtech or Ph.D. from IITs. Exams are held according to the ASTU rules and regulations, there if you are caught cheating the punishment is debarring from giving further exam for the whole semester. And the exams are held regularly, CED AEC even conducts 3 MTEs before endsem.

Assam Engineering College - [AEC]: 6 answered questions

Ques
Which one is better for a B.Tech Assam Engineering College or Tezpur University?

● Top Answer By Dinesh Rawal, on 11 Nov 21

Ans
It is better to go for B.Tech at Tezpur University (TU) than Assam Engineering College (AEC). Following are the reasons for the same: TU has great faculty and infrastructure, and you will get a lot of exposure.  The only drawback is the lack of placements. Being a new institution very few companies visit the college. AEC on the other hand, is very old, and has a strong alumni network.  Placement is better at AEC compared to TU, but still it keeps fluctuating which makes students unsure. Categories B.Tech at AEC B.Tech at TU Course Fee INR 44,000 1.76 lakh Placement Percentage 80% 50% Highest CTC 17 LPA 14 LPA Average CTC 6 LPA 3.5 LPA Recruiting Companies Capgemini, IBM, Wipro, Reliance, etc. SAP Labs, Amazon, Intel, Dabur, etc. If your aim is to get a job right after your graduation, then you should join AEC. But if you are interested more in research and exposure and want to opt for higher studies, TU will be a better option.

Ques
Which is better in placement, Assam Engineering College or CIT Kokrajhar?

● Top Answer By Rajdeep Dutta on 04 Sept 20

Ans
CIT, Kokrajhar, and Assam Engineering College are reputed engineering colleges in north-east India. CIT Kokrajhar offers better infrastructure, faculties, and facilities compared to Assam Engineering College as it is a central university and AEC is a state-funded University of Assam. However, AEC has a better placement record. Some students from CIT-K also opt for off-campus placements. Given below is a comparison between the placement at the two institutions depending on past placement records. Category CIT Kokrajhar Assam Engineering College Highest CTC INR 4.2 LPA INR 10 LPA Average CTC INR 2 LPA INR 5 LPA Placement rate 60-70% of students placed 70% TopRecruiters Infosys, Genpact, Cognizant, Amazon, etc. Genpact, Capgemini, Infosys, etc.

Ques
Which one should I opt: Assam Engineering College or Sikkim Manipal University?

● Top Answer By Anisha Sinha on 13 Aug 22

Ans
Opt for Sikkim Manipal University. It offers better placements compared to Assam Engineering College. During SMIT placements 2022, the highest CTC offered was INR 29.25 LPA. Students received more than 507 job offers. Wipro, Commvault, and DXC Technologies are some of the major recruiters to take part in the placements. SMIT is especially good for branches like CSE, EEE, and ECE.

Ques
Can I transfer from CIT, Kokrajhar to Assam Engineering College after the first year if I perform well and have an outstanding GPA?

● Top Answer By Mansi Sengupta on 19 Jan 21

Ans
No, you cannot transfer from CIT Kokrajhar to Assam Engineering College. A distant relative of mine studied at Assam Engineering college and found out that there is a huge difference in both the colleges.  CIT Kokrajhar is deemed to be a university and is funded centrally by MHRD. On the other hand, Assam Engineering College is a state-level college. Further, the GPA score fetched, no matter how good, will not be able to aid you in this case.  Below mentioned is a comparison of these two universities on various important factors: Particulars CIT Kokrajhar Assam Engineering College Courses Offered B.Tech, B.Des., Diploma B.E, M.E, MCA, and Ph.D. University Type Deemed to be University State Level University Entrance Accepted CITEE, CITDEE, CITLET, CITBDAT JLEE, CEE, and GATE Assam Engineering College is a state-level university. Admissions in B.E/B.Tech is done on the basis of CEE exams. As of now, there is no provision to transfer into Assam Engineering College from CIT Kokrajhar after completion of the first year. Also, the GPA score will not help in any way if a student wishes to transfer from CIT Kokrajhar to Assam Engineering College. Here is some placement information about CIT that might help: Be prepared to visit companies the college is going to refer. Chances of on-campus placements are very low.  Average CTC and average placements keep fluctuating. Its is recommended not to assume anything by going through past year records You usually become eligible for placements from the 6th Semester.  The options available for you, as of now, would be, either to continue at CIT Kokrajhar and pursue a higher level course from another university post-completion. If you are pursuing a diploma course, there is an option to join Assam Engineering College through lateral entry after they complete their respective diploma course. You can opt for another option which is to appear for the entrance exams accepted by the Assam Engineering College.

Ques
How tough is it to get a seat in CSE branch at Assam Engineering College? How tough is Assam CEE?

● Top Answer By Tathoi Patranobish on 10 Aug 22

Ans
Getting a seat in CSE at Assam Engineering College isn’t too difficult. You will need a score of around 150+ in CEE to get CSE in AEC. CEE is easier compared to national-level examinations like JEE. Go through the previous years' question papers to get an idea about the question paper pattern.

Ques
What is the probability of getting AEC(any branch) with 134 marks in assam cee?

● Top Answer By Karuna Beniwal on 15 Feb 21

Ans
In my opinion, the likelihood of your profile getting into Assam Engineering College highly depends on which category you belong to. Primarily, the chances of students from the reserved categories have better chances of getting in with a low score as compared to those coming from general categories.  The following table shows the expected cut off of Assam CEE as per the category: Category Expected Cut off 2020 General 72-76 OBC/MOBC 77-70 SC 61-57 ST 41-40 For the year 2016, the cutoff for the general category at AEC, Guwahati is 130, whereas that for OBC and SC category students was 99 and 93 respectively. The grades may fluctuate on the higher side generally. Other than this, there are a number of factors that affect the cut-off. This includes: The difficulty level of the exam The reputation of the college or institute you are applying to. Cut off from previous years Course or stream of engineering that you may choose Now, seeing that you have scored 134 and if you are from the general category, there is very little chance or almost no chance of you getting into AEC. Your saving grace could be if you are from one of the reserved categories like OBC, SC, or ST. Here, you have a better chance to secure admission but there is no guarantee. Estimating your rank from this information, you might be in 1500+.  It is advisable to consider backup colleges as well. You can look at JIST, Bineshwar Brahma for mechanical, civil, or electrical engineering. The opportunities for other branches are not that great in Assam. However, if you are passionate enough about electronics and computer science, definitely go ahead. You will excel.
