To determine eligibility for admission to the Honors Course, add the marks in the top four subjects. Marks obtained in mandatory Environmental Education/Studies, on the other hand, will not be factored into the final grade. You must have a minimum of 50% in aggregate and pass Mathematics.
Students from the SC/ST or OBC categories need to have a minimum of 40% in the previous qualifying examination.
I have a few friends from the Statistics department. Based on the things I heard from them, I will say the department is quite great. Professors are well-qualified, strict and they never miss any scheduled class.
Attendance is taken seriously in the department. You won’t be able to slack off. You also have to study seriously for the tests. Because if you fail in sectionals, you won’t be able to sit for finals.
My brother graduated from Asutosh College. Here are his insights.
Overall, the college will definitely help you grow.
Asutosh College is among the most reputed colleges in Kolkata. It has a legacy of over 100 years. It has brilliant professors and offers good academics. You can study freely here without involving in any politics.
Despite the misconceptions, classes are usually regular and there is rarely any interruption due to any political issue. You don’t need to take part in student unions or politics if you don’t want to.
Asutosh College has an ideal location in central Kolkata. You can easily reach the college by metro or bus from any part of the city.
Some of my friends did their graduation in Zoology from Asutosh College. According to them, the department is great. It offers UG and PG courses for Zoology.
The teachers are quite knowledgeable and cooperative. You can ask for their help, anytime you need it. The labs are well-equipped.
Try to stay in contact with your seniors if you are joining the department. They can be of great help.
My elder brother was accepted to both colleges in Eco(Hons) this year, and he eventually chose Scottish Church. Here's why.
So, choosing Scottish Church College will be better.
I have a few friends from Asuthose College. Here are their insights regarding the Physics department.
Overall, Asutose College is a decent option for pursuing B.Sc in Physics, if you have no other options.
It is usually determined by your Biology and Chemistry grades. Typically, the cutoff is not particularly high. It’s between 87 and 89 percent. It also varies from year to year based on the results of the board. However, if your score is higher than 87–88 percent, your name will almost certainly appear on the cutoff list.
As there are only a few colleges in Kolkata (under Calcutta University) that provide biochemistry as a bachelor’s degree. So, you should definitely go for it if you get admission.
The biochemistry department of Asutosh College is outstanding. There are 3 post-doctorate faculties and two Ph.D. faculties on campus. Teachers are also quite supportive.
I have friends from Asutosh College and according to them, the Economics department is quite good. But, professors will not be of any use unless you attend lectures every day.
You will need to find the best tuition and put in twice as much effort as folks from other universities. To maintain decent grades, one of my friends changed three coachings and joined various libraries.
Don't join Asutosh College if you've relied heavily on school teachers your entire school life, and only join if you're confident you can put in the effort day and night to produce your own notes and edit the ones your tuition teachers offer you.
Otherwise, the ambiance of the institute is good. Classes are held regularly. Overall, Asutose College is a decent choice if you want to pursue Economics honors.
