You should consider your other options as well. IIM Jammu is a baby IIM and it still hasn’t made its way into the top B-School list. Although it has improved over the years. IIM Jammu placements are similar to that of the baby IIMs. In 2022, the average and highest CTC offered were INR 13.53 LPA, and INR 32 LPA, respectively.

In terms of return on investment, IIM Jammu is a good option. Due to the small batch size, the number of companies taking part in the campus placements is more than the number of students participating. So, students get a fair chance at getting good placements.

Considering the general opinion, IIM Jammu is way safer than NIT Srinagar. Some reasons that support this opinion are

  • Less terrorism in comparison to NIT Srinagar
  • The climate is almost similar to Delhi with minimal snowfall
  • Curfews are imposed rarely only during serious situations
  • The president's rule does not affect the education here.

On the other hand, NIT Srinagar

  • has frequent cases of fights among students
  • has a sort of anti-Indian environment

The only drawback of IIM Jammu is that it just has a temporary campus whereas NIT Srinagar has been established for years.

The future prospects for an IIM Jammu pass-out who has pursued IPM or the Integrated Program in Management are similar to the prospects of any IIM pass-out. This is because IIM is a brand image and the age of the institute does not matter much. What matters is your willingness to pursue a management career.

IIM Jammu launched its 5-year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) in 2021 and this will be the third batch that will get admission in 2023. As of now, no batch has passed out yet so it’s difficult to ascertain its worth. But for reference, I have tabulated the stats for PGP students

As you can see a decent placement record is witnessed here and many major companies like Accenture and Amazon visit the campus.

Some facts about the IPM course here are

  • There is a mandatory credit course on “Happiness” during the 1st year of the program.
  • certificates of qualification are provided after every year of completion.
  • They will also provide physical books unlike IIM Rohtak.
  • There is a boot camp at the end of 1st year in Ladakh.

So we can say that the IPM course is not yet properly established but will definitely be in a few years.

If you need to enroll this year or your profile is such that getting calls from top B schools will be difficult, consider IIM Jammu. If the above is not true, you should consider taking the CAT 2022 exam.

The professors are extremely helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. The teaching is of high quality. The course curriculum is industry-relevant. The course's and department's infrastructure and facilities are excellent. Placements at IIM Jammu are extremely good, with almost every student selected for either summer internships or final placements. ICICI Bank, HDFC, SIDBI, Motilal Oswal, OYO, Myntra, Jindal Steel, HCL, FIS, Schindler, VLCC, and other companies visit the campus.

You should choose IIM Bodhgaya between these two. Since IIM Calcutta is the mentor institute, you will be taught by the faculties of IIM C. The placements of IIM Bodhgaya are also managed by IIM Calcutta, so you can expect good placement offers. The batch of 2022 students received an average CTC of INR 12.36 LPA.

Yes, personally I think if you have the above options only, then definitely go for IIM Bodh Gaya. The institute has many perks that will not leave you regretting your decision.

  • Single occupancy hostel room
  • 24 hours power backup
  • Wi-Fi facilities available in hostel
  • 24/7 mess facilities available
  • A gym
  • A common room to watch TV and play table tennis
  • Facilities for outdoor games like volleyball, badminton, football, cricket, basketball are also available.
  • IIM Bodh Gaya gets IIM Calcutta’s faculty.

All these advantages make IIM Bodh Gaya a better choice.

Yes, I think it’s a fairly good decision to take admission to IIM Jammu. This is because in the long run your IIM degree and tag will be very beneficial.

I know you might think that IIM Jammu is just a newly established institute and may not be worth leaving a job at Infosys. But if you look at the placement scenario here you can see how quickly it has come to establish itself in the IIM Race.

These figures certainly prove that IIM Jammu is climbing the ladder slowly and steadily.

Apart from placements, the following merits add to its worth

  • Many events are held by the students themselves like the HULT case competition.
  • The climate is much similar to that of Delhi. If anything it is much cleaner and fresher here.
  • The faculty is also top-notch
  • The infrastructure is also pretty good

So IIM is itself a brand name. You will not regret choosing any IIM be it IIM Jammu or any other.

It’s up to you to decide which college to go to. I can only throw some light on the advantages IIM Jammu has over other newly established IIMs including IIM Bodh Gaya

  1. It was established in 2016 and initially was affiliated with IIM Lucknow but in 2019 it became an autonomous body.
  2. It’s located in the center of Jammu in the vicinity of the airport, the railway station, and the bus stand and therefore offers excellent connectivity.
  3. The students face a tight schedule and are well prepared for corporate life.
  4. Great emphasis is placed on extracurricular activities.
  5. The Annual Sports Event “Funathon” is held to showcase the talents of students in sports.
  6. Guest lectures, HR Conclave, and CEO Summit make it possible for the students to have a one-to-one interaction with Industry experts.
  7. Various clubs and committees are maintained by the students as well as the faculty.

These points are based on my friends' experience only. If you ask others I am sure you will see mixed responses. This is because both the IIMs are newly established and don’t have much difference.
