You should choose IMT Ghaziabad, it offers better placements. Being an older institute, it has a widespread alumni network. Big MNCs such as Google, Microsoft, Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, etc. take part in the IMT Ghaziabad placement drive. In 2022, the average and highest CTC offered to the students were INR 15.28 LPA and INR 62 LPA, respectively. IMT also offers better facilities and infrastructure.
When considering whether or not to pay around 170K for the first term at IIM Sambalpur, it is important to consider the potential financial loss and weigh it against the potential benefits.
In terms of placements, it is true that IIM Kashipur may have an upper edge, however, it is important to note that this difference will likely only make a significant impact on the top 10% of the batch. For the majority of students, the placements at both IIM Sambalpur and IIM Kashipur will likely be similar. Additionally, when considering future entitlements, it is important to remember that both IIM Kashipur and IIM Sambalpur are relatively new institutes, so the location may not hold as much value in the long term as building a strong personal profile.
It is ultimately up to you to decide whether or not you are willing to potentially lose the money, and if so, to not stress about it too much. On the other hand, if you are not willing to potentially lose the money, it is also important not to regret the decision in the long run.
Go for it if you can afford to lose the money. If not, don't be disappointed. Just consider placements for the evaluation, as the location and life are both beautiful. Placements at IIM Kashipur have an obvious advantage, but only for the top 10% of the batch will it make a significant difference. Otherwise, you'll do well at both locations.
Furthermore, if you're looking for future entitlement, it makes little difference. IIM Kashipur is the newest, and IIM Sambalpur is the youngest. If you build a strong profile for yourself, the location between these two IIMs will not hold much value in the future. As a result, if you can afford to lose the money, do so without hesitation. If you can't afford to lose that money, forget it and you will have no regrets.
yoIIM Sambalpur is one of the most underrated IIMs situated in a serene peaceful area. Unlike other IIMs, the ambiance here is calm and not stressful. The hostels are surrounded by hills and the lush green scene is breathtaking and makes your hostel life simply beautiful. Let’s discuss the major features of IIM Sambalpur
So IIM Sambalpur is worth joining for your personal as well as professional development.
Yes, IIM Sambalpur has hostel facilities through its temporary hostel Sambalpur University Hostel.
For more information, you can always contact a student or alumni of the same institute.
IIM Sambalpur and BIM Trichy, both these institutes should be approached only when all doors are closed and you are left with zero options. Both colleges have poor placement scenarios and almost no brand name. The fees you will pay are not worth risking your 2 years for. If you are confident that you can get a better percentile next year please sit for CAT again and go for a better college. But if you are not confident about the same, and only have these two options, go for BIM Trichy. The reasons I have chosen BIM Trichy over IIM Sambalpur are -
I know only 2 trivial points are not enough to justify a college worth. What you can further do is talk to the current students or alumni of both colleges. Relying on placement reports is not enough so interacting with its students will give you a clearer picture maybe.
It depends on your profile. If you are a general category student with good academic records - more than 85 percent throughout 10th, 12th, and graduation, then old IIMs will be better.
If you aren’t getting the old IIMs, you can consider new IIMs like IIM Nagpur, Sambalpur, Vizag, Amritsar, Sirmaur, and Bodhgaya. Being part of any recently established institute is a different experience altogether. You will get to set the culture on campus which your juniors will inherit. These baby IIMs have decent placements. You will get placement opportunities through campus drive if you have a good academic record. Here are the average CTC statistics for these IIMs.
Institute | Average CTC |
IIM Nagpur | INR 15.21 LPA |
IIM Vizag | INR 15.06 LPA |
IIM Amritsar | INR 14.63 LPA |
IIM Sirmaur | INR 12.74 LPA |
IIM Bodhgaya | INR 12.36 LPA |
IIM Sambalpur | INR 12.64 LPA |
If you are willing to work hard and want to take advantage of opportunities that come with newly established institutes, then you should join these new IIMs.
Whether Post Graduation from IIM Sambalpur is worth it or not depends solely on what you want from your MBA and your career interests.
For instance, if you are already prospering in your current workplace, pursuing MBA is not worth the time and fees you will spend. The MBA degree will add no value to your profile so it’s better for you to keep working. I have seen many people forgoing offers from IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, and XLRI mainly because they are certain the MBA degree will add no value to their career and is just a waste of time and money.
While choosing any B School be it IIM Sambalpur or any other B School, you need to check if an MBA degree will help you escalate your career or if you will just end up with a hefty loan to repay and no career upgrade.
Coming to IIM Sambalpur specifically, I don’t think a person who is prospering at his current job and wants to do MBA just for the sake of it will want to join IIM Sambalpur. The MBA degree from that institute specifically adds no value at all to his profile. In other cases, you can think of joining IIM Sambalpur.
A specific program at one IIM cannot be compared to a general program at another IIM.
In any case, you shouldn't think about enrolling in a course at IIM Sambalpur. It is too recent and has no prior performance. Additionally, given its location, it won't even draw in top faculty. Instead of IIM Sambalpur, you would be much better off attending some high-quality non-IIM colleges.
The best institute for HR professionals is currently XLRI, followed by TISS, Mumbai. Considering that IIMI is one of the top IIMs and has a brand-new HR program, your learning and employment prospects are both promising. However, make sure you enjoy HR. It is practically impossible to later switch out of HR once you are in it.
After scrutinizing the list of colleges you mentioned, I think the most viable option is IIM Bodh Gaya. It is the most suitable among the 3 because it has been growing at a spectacular rate. The 2 major reasons for its rapid growth are
Both these factors differentiate Bodh Gaya from Sambalpur and Sirmaur extremely well.
