As far as the name of the university is concerned, let me tell you that PESIT became PES University back in 2014.

It is also known as PESU and like every other university, it also has its own advantages and disadvantages. The authorities at the university are keen on trying to create a strong workforce.

  • With PESU being in the early stages of its development, it also requires attention in many areas. For this, the authorities are quite careful with and everything.
  • Now, when you talk about PESIT VTU or PESIT South Campus, this college follows the pattern set by VTU. So, you can easily trust it.
  • This pattern has been tried and tested and quite a lot of colleges are known to follow it. But, PESU on the other hand, is trying something new.

The first batch at PESU passed out in 2018. You can accordingly check how well this and the other batches are doing and if taking admission at PESU is a risk worth undertaking.

Categories PESIT PESU
Course Fee 13.6 lakh 2.35 lakh
Highest CTC 30 LPA 35 LPA
Average CTC 12 LPA 16 LPA
Recruiting Companies Wipro, Cognizant, Infosys, HP, etc. TCS, IBM, Accenture, Capgemini, etc.

If you are looking for a practical and useful curriculum, you should think of applying to PESU as the curriculum here will provide you with exactly this.

The average placement package for CSE students at PES University according to my friends, ranges from INR 10-11 LPA. This was for the year 2020 during which many companies revoked their offers made to the students or reduced salaries owing to the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdowns.

  • About 80% of the students get placed within 2-3 months of the start of the placement season.
  • More than 10 LPA average CTC is offered in the CSE department alone.
  • For the year 2019, more than 120 students have got more than INR 10 LPA as fixed compensation.
  • Though their overall CTC can be much higher just like Microsoft which offers INR 39 LPA as CTC only INR 12 LPA is the actual salary.

The table below will show the companies, their CTC, and the number of students they took.

Company Name

Final CTC

Number of students taken

Microsoft

INR 39 LPA

11

Goldman Sachs

INR 22 LPA

10 - 15

Cisco

INR 13 LPA

25+

Morgan Stanley

INR 16 – 18 LPA

2 - 3

Walmart

INR 18 LPA

4 – 5

Zynga

INR 14 LPA

3 – 5

Other companies offering fixed compensation of more than 10 LPA include Myntra, Epsilon, Sabre, McAfee, One Direct, Target, Mentor Graphics, Sorocco, Societe Generale, MIQ Digital, Capillary Technologies, etc.

Deloitte offered a package of INR 6.5 LPA and it took more than 90 students where all the branches were eligible. So you can say that this is an average package for all the B.Tech students. This would be much higher for CSE students, while less for other branches.

According to the NIRF 2020 rankings, RV College was ranked 70th in India. On the other hand, PES University was ranked at the 93rd position. Both of these colleges are having a good placement record.

The different categories based on which we can compare the two colleges are listed below:

  • Faculty: Both the colleges have excellent faculty, so there are no clear winners that can be declared based on this parameter. The Teachers are highly qualified in their respective fields.
  • Syllabus: PES University has a more relevant syllabus than RVCE but the professors' methodology to teach at PES University is not satisfactory. RVCE has a modern syllabus for core branches, but it still lags compared to other top colleges in the country.
  • Students: After considering and analyzing the CET cutoffs and enrollment data we can conclude that RVCE is the choice of the majority of the toppers.
  • Campus: RVCE has a larger campus as compared to PES University but the campus of PES University is better maintained.

RVCE College can be said to be No.1 but choosing PES University can not be considered a bad choice. You should try and consider other factors as well before making the final decision. You can choose either of the two colleges and can still make it big in life.

It's challenging to determine which is preferred between a PESIT VTU degree and a PES University degree, as both have their pros and cons.

PESIT VTU degree may be preferred as it has a long-standing reputation and has been around for a while. The degree is recognized by many top companies, and graduates from PESIT have gone on to secure excellent job opportunities. The syllabus is well-established and has been tried and tested for years, ensuring a well-rounded education.

On the other hand, the PES University degree is a relatively new degree, and its value is yet to be determined. However, it is independent of the VTU and provides more specialized education in the chosen field. The syllabus is enhanced, and the university has modern infrastructure and technology that can be advantageous to students.

Ultimately, it depends on what one's priorities are. If a well-established reputation and recognition by top companies are important, then a PESIT VTU degree may be preferred. However, if specialized education and access to modern infrastructure and technology are priorities, then a PES University degree may be the better option.

My brother studied in this institute, so I might be able to help you with the question. Let me discuss how his first year went.

  • Honestly, at first, you do feel that your first semester is tougher than other colleges.
  • The faculty is good and very friendly and cooperative.
  • The marking scheme, the assignments, and the volume of study, plus the skewed branch-wise ratio can result in excessive peer pressure.
  • But once you've figured out how the system works it will be easier to manage.

Furthermore, from ex-students and present students, you will get to know both sides of the coin. You can then compare both of their experiences. You will get to know what changed and how tougher the first year became from before.

Other than your dedicated departmental subjects. Both physics and chemistry are also equally difficult. They require some surreal level of effort to achieve a good GPA. You just have to stay focused and concentrate on your studies. It is easier to improve your GPA in the first year.

Life at PES University is very good, both in terms of education and recreation. For every student, an average day is different, with some similarities in routine like attending lectures and labs, taking short breaks, giving attendance at the hostel, etc. The points below are an in-general list of tasks and events a student goes through, based on reviews.

  • Students wake up at 8 AM and hurry for classes, which start at 8:15 AM. You will enter the classes from 8:20 to 8:30 AM.
  • Hiding hostel id cards, students will act like being local students and blame the traffic for being a bit late.
  • Around 10:15 AM, students rush towards the food court for breakfast, making sure that all of their friends are attending the next class. Otherwise, they decide their part by calculating their attendance, whether it is above 60% or not.
  • After 10:45, a series of classes and labs needed to be attended as regular periods.
  • 12:45 is usually lunchtime.
  • After 1:30, again a series of classes and labs are scheduled. Some students skip those, others attend them but with much less enthusiasm.
  • 3:30 PM is the end of the day in college and students rush towards their hostel.
  • 3:30 to 5 PM is a fun time for students to spend some time on social networking and the internet.
  • At roughly 5 PM, students fetch some snacks from the food court.
  • 5:30 to 7:30 PM is the time to play FIFA with friends, one of the most interesting time spans in hostel life.
  • 7:30 to 8 PM is dinner time. Students rush as fast as possible to get the best out of the meal.
  • 9 PM is the curfew time, where students had to give hostel attendance.
  • 9 to 12 AM is also dedicated to FIFA gameplay.
  • At 12 AM, it is time for the students to get ready for the UCL or other football league.
  • 12:30 to 2:30 AM midnight is the best time, watching football with friends with great enthusiasm.
  • 2:30 AM is the time when the day gets over, and it’s time to sleep.

This is the overall routine of a normal student’s day, with classes, breaks, games, fun, and a lot more.

If you have a backlog in any subject in any semester, you have to clear it first. No Indian University can grant you a degree without clearing all your backlogs, even the private ones such as PES University.

  • There is a system called Fast Track in which you can clear 2 backlogs of 4 credits each within two weeks after your final semester at PES University.
  • If you still have more subjects or you could not clear them during the two-week window, you have to clear them within the summer term period.
  • If you can clear all your backlogs before the summer term, you will get your degree with other students as usual.

Finally, these are still plug-in mechanisms. Try to avoid backlogs altogether if possible.

The PES University CSE branch is a popular choice among students who wish to pursue a career in the field of computer science and engineering. However, whether it is worth paying 3 lakh/annum through the PESSAT depends on several factors, including your personal goals, financial situation, and career aspirations. Here are some points to consider:

  • Quality of education: PES University is known for its academic excellence and has been consistently ranked among the top private universities in India. The CSE program is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in theoretical and practical aspects of computer science and engineering, and the faculty members are reputed in their respective fields. If you are looking for a high-quality education that can prepare you for a career in the IT sector, PES University could be a good choice.
  • Placement prospects: Another important factor to consider is the placement record of the university. PES University has tie-ups with several reputed companies in the IT industry, and the CSE branch has a good track record of placements. If you perform well in the program and maintain a decent CGPA, you can expect to land a job in a reputed company with a decent package. However, it's important to note that placement opportunities are not guaranteed, and your own skills and efforts play a crucial role in securing a job.
  • Cost: The cost of education is an important consideration for many students and their families. PES University charges a fee of 3 lakh/annum for the CSE program through the PESSAT, which can be a significant financial burden for some. If you have other options that are more affordable and offer similar quality of education and placement prospects, you may want to consider them as well. However, if you are convinced that PES University is the best option for you and you can afford the fees, then it could be worth the investment.
  • Scholarships and financial aid: PES University offers scholarships and financial aid to meritorious and deserving students. If you have a good academic record or are from an economically weaker section, you may be eligible for financial assistance that can reduce the cost of education. It's worth exploring these options to see if you can reduce the financial burden.

In conclusion, whether the PES University CSE branch is worth paying 3 lakh/annum through the PESSAT depends on your individual circumstances and priorities. If you value high-quality education and good placement prospects and can afford the fees, PES University could be a good choice. However, if you have other options that are more affordable or offer better value for money, you may want to consider them as well.
