My brother is a third-year student of the CSE branch at NIT Manipur and he is preparing for the placements. Despite the fact it is newly established, his seniors’ placement record was quite good.  Here are a few insights into the placement packages at NIT Manipur. The average salary package offered is usually around 4-6 LPA. A couple of years ago the highest package was hardly about 10 LPA that too for very selective students. However, it has improved in recent years. Last year, three students received a package of 17 LPA in BPCL. All three students belonged to different branches namely CSE, Mechanical, and Civil. This is the highest package till now. The second highest package of 10 LPA at Microsoft was bagged by a guy from the CSE branch. Overall, NIT Manipur has managed to get fairly good packages as compared to other newly established NITs. Although the highest package varies every year, it is never less than 12-15 LPA according to recent years’ placement records.

My cousin’s brother is currently pursuing his B.Tech from NIT Manipur (2018-2022). Before joining, he was also going through the same dilemma, however, now he has had enough experience to share his honest opinions. Infrastructure: It is one of the newly established NITs, hence, the campus is still under construction and developing as the years are passing. Currently, the college has been run temporarily at Langol Campus. Thus, there is a lot more scope of improvement in this area for now. Faculty: There is nothing so exceptional about the faculty. Overall, you can find both excellent and average professors. To mention, Chemistry department is one of the best. Peers: You will not be disappointed with the crowd as most of them are talented and intellectual. A healthy competition will drive you to perform better too! The helpful and supportive seniors are the cherry on top. Library: You can find most books there however if you want advanced books, you need to visit the Takyel Campus. Sports & extracurricular: The annual sports event hosts various sports like cricket, kabaddi, kho-kho, chess, carom, etc. You can also enjoy the annual cultural fest OUGRI which is fantastic where almost the whole Imphal participates.  Mess: Earlier it was worse, however, it got somewhat better after strikes by the students. Still, better be prepared. Placements: Just like every engineering institute, the CSE branch enjoys the best placements. You can grab packages up to 18 LPA by big companies like Microsoft. The second highest placements are enjoyed by Mechanical followed by core branches like ECE & EE. All in all, being a part of NIT Manipur is a mixed bag of experiences. Despite issues like food and campus, you’ll always find your way out as you make friends with different talents from across India.

If the arrangement for the fee which is charged by MIT would not be a problem for you then It is suggested that you opt for admission in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering at MIT Manipal. Having some friends studying there I can say that there are many things that make MIT Manipal stand out. Some of the good things about MIT Manipal which makes it a better option include the following: The rank of MIT in the NIRF rankings is much higher than that of NIT Goa. MIT Manipal offers better campus facilities and opportunities as NIT Goa is a relatively newer college. Some of the well-known firms from the domain of electronics and other core branches recruit students of MIT Manipal. Even if they are not in large numbers, they are more than other institutions where just one or two key companies from the electronics field visit to recruit candidates. I am not familiar with the faculty of EEE at NIT Goa, but at MIT the EI department faculty is excellent. If you get an internship through campus recruitment, you may be able to convert it to PPO if you do well during the tenure of your internship.

Before choosing an institute, think about what your requirements are. Here are some points that might help you make a decision. If your aim is a job in a corporate sector then the NITs will definitely be better options. Opt for either NIT Meghalaya or Nagaland.  Do not compare their placements with older NITs as it could prove disappointing. Tezpur University (TU) is also known to provide good placement opportunities but it is more concentrated to only the CSE department.  You may get placements from a few IT companies, but overall placements are concerned NITs are definitely better than TU. Students who are interested in learning and exploring research fields can opt for TU as well.  Tezpur University has very good faculty strength in ECE & CSE.  The two departments are much older too.  The CSE faculty and labs of TU are better than NIT Silchar.  TU has got a good research environment as there are multiple departments of Science and Engineering, which is not the case of the mentioned NITs. Therefore it is suggested that if you aim for an immediate job opportunity, go for NITs. For students who feel confident that they can get a job off campus or are more inclined towards academics and research can go for TU.

HBTU is the best among all the institutes mentioned above. The university is old and reputed. So, it's better if you choose HBTU CSE over the other options. HBTU placements 2021 witnessed an average CTC of INR 6.46 LPA. A total of 69 students were recruited from the CSE branch. HCL, IBM, Adobe are the major recruiters. 

YMCA Faridabad will be an excellent choice to pursue CSE. The institute offers great placement opportunities. Some of the best companies visit the campus like Infoedge, Samsung, Infosys, IOCL, Amazon, TCS, Cadence Design Systems, and more. NIT Manipur has top placements in the CSE branch, followed by ECE. It will give you the NIT Tag and exposure. You can get a chance to sit in pool placements. The infrastructure of a college is one of the major concerns for a fresher but after a year it doesn't matters much as a good infrastructure doesn't mean that it will provide you with good placements. Now, as far as the infrastructure is concerned NIT Manipur won't be able to live up to your expectations as it is a newly formed NIT. The campus is not as beautiful and modern as you would expect from other NITs. As it is a newly growing college, the temporary campus has currently shifted to the permanent ground and the construction work is still going on there. But apart from infrastructure, the faculty and placements of this college are very good and you should consider this college as a valid option.

Yes, like most other IITs and NITs it is possible to change your branch at NIT Manipur. My brother joined civil engineering at the institute but changed to CSE in the 2nd year, so I can tell you the exact process. First, your CGPA after 1st year must be among the top two in your branch. You should also not have any active backlog in the first year. If there is a clash between the CGPA then the JEE MAIN ranks of the students are taken for the tiebreaker. NIT Manipur offers the branch change option only to two students at the maximum.
