Calcutta University B.Ed admission 2024 will begin soon. Admission to the B.Ed program will be granted on the basis of marks secured in the qualifying examination. Calcutta University B.Ed. Eligibility Criteria

In order to be eligible for B.Ed admission at Calcutta University, candidates must fulfill the following requirements:

Candidates qualifying with at least 50% marks in either the Bachelor’s Degree and/or in the Master’s Degree in Sciences/ Humanities/ Social Sciences.
Bachelor’s in Engineering or Technology with specializations in Science and Mathematics with 55% marks or any other admissible qualification equivalent are eligible.
Marks relaxation for lenience towards the minority (SC/ST/PWD) is 5%.
Reservation of seats for B.Ed. for fresher’s: Calcutta University – 80%, Other Universities – 20%
Reservation for minorities, SC – 22%, ST – 6%, PWD – 3%. Minorities from other states excluded.
Age limit for fresher students, General category, 40 years as on 30th June. No age limit for General category Deputed Students.

Note: Age limit extendable up to 5 years for students belonging to SC, ST and PWD categories.

Admissions are given on the basis of marks in the last qualifying examination as per the NCTE norms

Calcutta University B.Ed Application Process

Admissions to the B.Ed. program of Calcutta University are only received online. The steps to applying for the B.Ed. program are:

Visit the official website of Calcutta University – caluniv.ac.in.
Take the pointer to the “click here to register” option at the bottom of the Login Form
Fill in the registration form.
With the email id as the user id and a chosen password, you’ll be directed to the Admission Form.
The Admission Form consists of six pages shown as "menu”

- Payment Information
In the Academic Information Page, enter the marks, subjects etc. of different examinations from the 10th standard and onwards in chronological order.
Proceed to fill in the form from the ‘Personal Info’ page to ‘Payment Info’, in the given order. The following section will refuse to open if even a single field is left blank on the present one.
‘Save’ option stores the data of the page while ‘Save and Continue’ will store the data and continue to the next page. The ‘Save’ option also enables the user to refrain from filling the entire form at once, by saving the details filled.
Before ‘Final Submission’ of the form available on the ‘Payment Info’ Page, one may print the draft form, Employment Form (for deputed teachers) and Grade Mark to cross-reference the data for any discrepancies. Modifications/corrections of similar sort can be done for mistakes or discrepancies.
Post ‘Final Submission’ of the form, users won’t be able to edit information provided, as any such option will cease to exist.

Between Calcutta University and Presidency University for a PG, you should opt for Presidency University. Having studied in Calcutta University, I suggest you go for Presidency instead. Calcutta University is known to provide low marks to students. The teachers are part of the board or question setter which doesn't give good marks and a student has to study under them. Apart from this, there are certain colleges that, to improve their grades, give good marks to the students. Both of these cases are not good. Along with this, the marks get worse as the answer sheets are not checked by the college faculty and are instead checked by someone else. The Presidency won over these things. A student scores good marks in Presidency. The teachers are not that strict and they only check the answers sheets. As it's only the college teachers who do the questions and answers work in the exam, once getting familiar with them will help a student score well. Therefore, it's better to opt for Presidency University. Due to its better faculty, facilities and overall experience.

One of my friends was a student of the IEM thus, he had his reasons to make a choice among all the given options which might help you choose a college for yourself. Instead of enrolling for any college under WBJEE, you can try to go for IITs. If you have no luck there, then you should opt for government colleges such as CU, JU, and KGEC. Talking about IEM, you should know IEM provides a good opportunity for the students with all the favorable benefits. Apart from this, Heritage Institute of Technology is not a good choice as the crowd of students doesn’t have any standards. Most of them are enrolled by the management quota. You may also go to other colleges like Techno Main Saltlake otherwise, you can also choose GCETT Serampore, near Kolkata, as it is also a good college.

Even Burdwan University asks the same questions again and over. You will have to put in extra effort to do well in academics at both Burdwan University and Calcutta University. However, Calcutta University has a locational advantage. You will have better access to coaching. Calcutta University is also more recognized. I will suggest that you take all these factors into consideration, and choose an institute according to your convenience.
