Calcutta University Admission 2024 Quick Updates

Calcutta University BTech admissions are based on WBJEE Score/ JEE Main Score. The application process for WBJEE has commenced on December 28, 2023. The last date for the WBJEE registration 2024 is on January 31, 2024. Candidates can register for the WBJEE 2024 at wbjeeb.nic.in. WBJEE Exam Date 2024 is April 28, 2024.

Other updates are as follows:

Calcutta University admission for a 2-year MBA is open. The application form can be downloaded online @caluniv.ac.in and must be submitted at the Alipore campus latest by June 7, 2024. 50 percentile of CAT/MAT/XMAT/ JEEMAT and other National Level Entrance Scores will be considered, followed by GD & PI. The probable date for GD and PI is June 14 & 15, 2024.
Calcutta University invites applications for PhD program in Business Management. The last date for form submission is February 20, 2024, at the Alipore campus with an application fee of INR 100. The application form can be downloaded online @caluniv.ac.in. Moreover, the PhD Entrance Test is scheduled for February 25, 2024, at Alipore Campus, University of Calcutta.

Calcutta University offers UG, PG, Doctoral, Diploma, and Certificate courses in the fields of Arts, Science, Commerce, Engineering, Management, Law, Journalism, etc. The admission to the B.Tech program is done on the basis of West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE). For research programs such as M.Phil and Ph.D admission is done on the basis of the Research Entrance Test conducted by the university followed by an interview. However, Calcutta University also offers admission on the basis of merits prepared by them on the basis of 12th score for some of the UG programs.

Candidates looking for admission to the university can apply online through the official website. The application form can be filled online or offline on payment of the application fee through SBI Collect or Challan. The university offers admission in these courses under two categories, i.e. Category ‘A’ for CU Candidates and Category ‘B’ for Non-CU candidates. The admission under ‘A’ and ‘B’ categories is granted over 60% and 40% seats respectively.

Calcutta University offers admission to B.Ed programs for the categories of Deputed and Fresher candidates on the basis of their performance in academics. Minimum eligibility for B.Ed is a Graduation or PG degree. Age should be not more than 40 years as on June 30 for Fresher candidates. There is no age limit for Deputed candidates. My university life.

Remarks:

The admission process is very simple. Application fees are zero. I filled out the form online and got selected according to my merits score. Here the selection is mainly merit-based no such entrance or anything else. The eligibility is that you have to pass out B.Sc. with 55% marks, that's all. And there is also a reservation system everywhere.

Remarks:

Admission was based on merit but the higher authority of the university allowed us seats and institutions and we had no choice of changing that or taking admission at the institution/subject of our choice. Seats were also very few in some subjects of our choices.

The unique experience in a university.

Remarks:

I am currently studying master's in the department of microbiology in the University of Calcutta(Ballygunge Science College). I have got admitted to this course through the obtained marks in the graduation with the same discipline. This means here selection procedure is through the merit list. And they need a minimum of 55% marks in the previous exam with biology, chemistry, and physics in the higher secondary level and 60% marks as the eligibility. The application form is available on the university website. Students can apply here with the qualifying eligibility. Application fees are waived fully so that is another advantage for the students. After the form fill up the merit list has been published and the students get admitted with the selected merit. Thus overall admission process is very easy.

M.Sc Microbiology In CU Main Campus

Remarks:

I took admission in 2022. In that year there is no entrance exam. Selection is done on the basis of merit, that is, on the basis of marks that you got in your B.Sc. Minimum eligibility was at least 55% marks in B.Sc Hons. in Microbiology or its equivalent. Though competition is very tough. In 2022, the notification was released on 30.08.22, and the admission was taking place from September to November, even after commencing of the class, if there is any seat vacant in any particular domain. The application form will be available in the CU website only. In 2022, there was no application fees. Here, I'm talking about only CU's main campus, not about the affiliated colleges. There is a total of 17 seats available on CU's main campus, out of which 80% is reserved for CU home students and 20% is for Non-CU candidates. Reservation benefits are also available, for CU students (8 seats for UR, 3 for SC, 1 for ST, 1 for OBC-A, 1 for OBC-B), and for Non-CU candidates (2 for UR, 1 for SC).

the admission process was through 50% Bsc marks and 50%through entrance it was really competitive and tough but everything was based on our BSc syllabus. Selection is done based on your Wbjee rank. The cutoff for outside Bengal students is very high (1200 for my depart. ECE) just after Jadavpur university. The admission process is what every other university in Kolkata provides. The fee structure for the course is given on the university website.

Honest Review of Polymer Science and Technology Department in Calcutta University

Remarks:

Getting admission to the B.Tech course at Calcutta University has two processes. One is by passing WBJEE Exam in 12+ level and another is completing a B.Sc degree at graduation level. For this process, the course will be 3 years and for the WBJEE process, the course will be 4 years. In the previous year, our admission fees are waived for online classes in the first semester. It has no any separate application form, l was admitted here by participating in WBJEE counselling. And also it provides a Decentralised Counseling process like other govt engineering colleges. For the reservation category, it provides a reservation seat.

Which is better Calcutta university or Presidency university for a PG course in economics?

Between Calcutta University and Presidency University for a PG, you should opt for Presidency University. Having studied in Calcutta University, I suggest you go for Presidency instead. Calcutta University is known to provide low marks to students. The teachers are part of the board or question setter which doesn't give good marks and a student has to study under them. Apart from this, there are certain colleges that, to improve their grades, give good marks to the students. Both of these cases are not good. Along with this, the marks get worse as the answer sheets are not checked by the college faculty and are instead checked by someone else. The Presidency won over these things. A student scores good marks in Presidency. The teachers are not that strict and they only check the answers sheets. As it's only the college teachers who do the questions and answers work in the exam, once getting familiar with them will help a student score well. Therefore, it's better to opt for Presidency University. Due to its better faculty, facilities and overall experience.

One of my friends was a student of the IEM thus, he had his reasons to make a choice among all the given options which might help you choose a college for yourself. Instead of enrolling for any college under WBJEE, you can try to go for IITs. If you have no luck there, then you should opt for government colleges such as CU, JU, and KGEC. Talking about IEM, you should know IEM provides a good opportunity for the students with all the favorable benefits. Apart from this, Heritage Institute of Technology is not a good choice as the crowd of students doesn’t have any standards. Most of them are enrolled by the management quota. You may also go to other colleges like Techno Main Saltlake otherwise, you can also choose GCETT Serampore, near Kolkata, as it is also a good college.

Even Burdwan University asks the same questions again and over. You will have to put in extra effort to do well in academics at both Burdwan University and Calcutta University.
