A number of PG Diploma courses, and distance education courses including UG programmes, are also offered by the university. Selection to the PG courses is based either on qualifying marks (direct admission) or on the basis of performance in an entrance examination conducted by the university.
TANCET marks are considered for MBA course and admissions will be made through centralized counseling conducted by Government College of Technology,Coimbatore.
MCA admissions including 17 other courses like M.Sc, B.P.Ed, M.P.Ed, MA in English Literature, etc are based on CET scores. Entrance is conducted by respective Departments of Bharathiar University.
Admission to M.Sc in Medical Biotechnology for DBT Sponsored candidates is based on GAT-B entrance scores.
Around 37 courses including PG Diploma courses in various disciplines admissions are based on merit. The direct admission provision is as per the fulfillment of the basic eligibility criteria as well.
Interested candidates can apply through online or download the application form available at the university website and submit it upon completion along with the required fee to the head of the concerned department.

Admission to the university programmes is done directly on first come first serve basis. Application forms and prospectus can be obtained in person or through post from the university centres or downloaded from the university website upon payment of INR 150 through crossed Demand Draft.

Bharathiar University PG and Diploma Admission 2023

The University offers a number of PG programmes including MA, M.Sc, M.Com etc. in multiple disciplines along with several diploma programmes such as PG Diploma in Environmental Education, Cheminformatics etc. In addition to it, the university also offers B.P.Ed and M.P.Ed programme along with MBA and MCA (Regular and Lateral Entry). Selection of candidates will be done on the basis of performance in an entrance test (60 marks) and in the qualifying examination (40 marks) upto V Semester / II year. The Entrance Test will be conducted in the university campus only.

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates must fulfill the following criteria to be deemed eligible for admission to most of the PG courses offered by Bharathiar university:

Candidate should have passed with minimum 55% aggregate in marks at the undergraduate level from any recognized university in the country. The course must have been in a related field, and the viability of an acquired degree in terms of its applicability to the subject of the Master’s degree is at the discretion of the University.
A relaxation may be given to reserved categories as per the regulations of the Government.
For the M.Ed. degree, a B.Ed. degree is preferable, though BA with education related fields may be accepted.
In case of Biochemistry, a minimum of 60% aggregate is required at the undergraduate level to apply.
For M.Sc. programmes, Science stream with related subjects must have been a part of the curriculum at the undergraduate level.
For courses in Economics or Econometrics, the following subjects are accepted: Economics, Econometrics, Mathematical Statistics, Business Economics, Commerce. Other related subjects may be considered at the discretion of the University.

Selection Process:

The selection process varies depending on the course applied for. It may a direct one, where candidates either are offered the seats on a first come first serve basis depending on merit and availability, or based on the entrance examination conducted by the University. Bharathiar University MBA and MCA Admission 2023

In addition to the various PG courses mentioned above, the university also offers MBA (Master of Business Administration) and MCA (Master of Computer Application) programmes to the students. The application process remains the same for MBA, MCA programmes as for the other PG courses. In order to be eligible for admission to MBA, MCA programmes, the candidates should have appeared for TANCET Examination and possess valid TANCET scores.

Candidates must fulfill the following criteria to be considered eligible for admission to these courses.

For MBA, candidates must possess an undergraduate degree from a recognized university along with the educational qualifications following the 10+2+3 format.
For MCA, candidate is required to pass in any recognized Bachelors degree of minimum 3 years duration (10+2+3 / 4 years pattern) in any discipline with core Mathematics or Business Mathematics at +2 level or A pass in any recognized Bachelors degree with 10+3 years Diploma +3 years pattern with Mathematics at Diploma level or Mathematics or Statistics as one of the subjects at the degree level or Pass in any recognized Bachelors degree of minimum 3 years duration (10+2+3 pattern) in any discipline with Mathematics or Statistics as any one of the subjects

Applications are accepted only if submitted within 10 days of declaration of results of TANCET. Selection of candidates is done on a direct basis, with the performance in the qualifying degree as well as the TANCET score being taken into consideration. Admission to MBA and MCA courses is done through Centralized counseling conducted by Government College of Technology, Coimbatore.

Bharathiar University M.Phil and Ph.D Admission 2023

The University offers M.Phil. and Ph.D. courses in almost all the university departments with more than 37 specializations being offered. The general eligibility for admission to the research programs is a post-graduate degree in a related discipline. There are generally two sessions of applications accepted, in November and May, with the process being the same as the other courses offered by the university. The University conducts a Common Entrance Test for admission to the research programs, followed by a personal interview.

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates must fulfill the following criteria to be deemed eligible for admission to this university.

Candidate should have passed with minimum 55% aggregate in a Master’s level degree from any recognized university in the country. The course must have been in the subject applied for, or in a related field as acceptable at the discretion of the university.
A 5% relaxation may be given to reserved categories as per the regulations of the Government, i.e. 50% minimum requirement,
At the discretion of the University Board, certain candidates may be exempted from the entrance examination, by virtue of them clearing prominent examinations such as NET or the equivalent.

Selection Process:

The selection process is based mainly on the performance in the entrance examination conducted by the University.

The entrance test consists of questions covering general areas, as well as subject specific and research oriented questions.
Candidates who obtain satisfactory marks in this entrance test may also have to participate in a personal interview.
The final merit list is based on a cumulative grading of performance in the entrance examination, personal interview, and the qualifying degree scores (Master’s level).

Exemption from the written test:

M.Phil. degree holders need not appear for common entrance test, however they will be required to appear for the interview.
UGC/ CSIR-JRF NET/ SLET/ GATE/ Teacher fellowship holders / Scientist working in DRDO / faculty of Air Force Administrative College/foreign candidates need not appear for entrance test. Such candidates shall be directly admitted to the doctoral program through interview.

Eligibility Criteria:

The minimum required eligibility is as stated below.

For undergraduate courses, a pass at the 10+2 level from CBSE / ISC / State Board or the recognized equivalent is a must, with Science stream being required for pure science subjects. Alternatively, a polytechnic degree awarded by the State Board of Technical Education under the Government of Tamil Nadu will also be accepted.
For postgraduate courses, an undergraduate degree from a recognized university in a related field must be obtained.
For PG Diploma courses, a pass at the degree level from a recognized university is required.

Selection Process:

Selection is done on a direct, merit oriented basis, with the performance in the qualifying degree / examination being taken into consideration.

Bharathiar University Application Process 2023

Candidates seeking admission to PG Degree/ Diploma courses can apply through online or offline mode. Interested students can register themselves online through the official university website and submit the required fee through available payment modes. Students can also apply offline by obtaining the application form and submitting it upon completion along with the processing fee for Rs. 300/- as Registration fee (Rs.150 /- for SC / ST candidates) through Demand Draft and necessary enclosures.

Offline Registration:

Students can obtain the prescribed the application form in person from university office at a cost of Rs.300/- to be remitted by a Bank of India Challan (into the Genral fund Account of Bharathiar University) or a demand draft of any Nationalized Bank. Demand Draft (DD) should be dated not earlier than April 17 and must be drawn in favour of the Registrar, Bharathiar University and payable at Coimbatore.
In case of SC/ST candidates, the fee is Rs. 150/-provided they produce an attested Photo copy of his/her community certificate along with the request for application.
Candidate shall also send a self addressed envelope (28 x 13 cms) affixing Rs. 60/- stamp along with the application form
Candidates can also download the application form available at the university website and submit it upon completion along with a DD for Rs. 300/- as Registration fee (Rs. 150 /- for SC / ST candidates)

Admission to School of Distance Education, Bharathiar University are done twice a year, Application forms are available for download at the university website/ obtained in person from the university centres and completed applications are received round the year. The enrolment is made a continuous ongoing process throughout the year.

Calendar year batch : Filled in applications received / spot admission done from 1st Dec to 30th April.
