Anna University charges a total fee for the B.Arch course.
Candidates should apply only through Online mode on the Web Portal of Anna University. Direct or offline applications will be rejected.
2 seats are reserved for B.Arch Degree programs in the University Department of Anna University, Chennai-25.
Candidates who have passed International Baccalaureate Diploma after 10 years of schooling, with Mathematics as a compulsory subject can also apply

Anna University B.Arch Eligibility Criteria

Candidates having 45% marks in 10+2 from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are eligible to apply.

SC/ ST candidates need 40% marks to apply for the same.
Diploma Candidates who have passed 10+3 years Diploma (any stream) Examination recognized by Central/ State Governments with Mathematics as a compulsory subject.
International Baccalaureate Diploma Candidates who have passed International Baccalaureate Diploma after 10 years of schooling, with Mathematics as a compulsory subject.

Anna University B.Arch Admission Criteria

Anna University B.Arch admission is done based on NATA score. The final selection for B.Arch in Anna University is done on the merit list based on the score of the NATA examination conducted by the Council of Architecture.

The candidates should upload a scanned copy of the mark sheet.
Those who have not appeared and passed in NATA 2024 are not eligible for B.Arch. Degree course.

How to Apply?

Candidates have to apply through the online application portal.
Register yourself with a valid email address and active mobile number as all the communications to the candidates will be sent to the same.
Enter all the asked details carefully such as - Percentage of Marks, Year of Passing, Board/ Institute Scanned image of their photograph with prescribed file size/ resolution etc.
An online application without convenient documents and photographs will be rejected.
Make the payment through online mode only. The application fee for only B.Arch is INR 500 (INR 250 for SC/ ST/ PH and INR 100 for the special reservation category).
After entering all the details click the save/ submit button. The candidate doesn’t need to send the printout of the application or any other documents.

Comparably Anna University is better than Amrita University. It is a state government university and changes a lower course fee. The institute offers great academics. The university has a great alumni network. Anna University notable alumni list incudes name like A. P. J. Abdul Kalam- Former President of India & Bharat Ratna awardee, Venu Srinivasan - Chairman of Sundaram, Sujatha Rangarajan - Writer.

However, being a private university Amrita offers better infrastructure.

Having mentioned that you are a topper in all the unit tests, getting a CGPA of more than 9 would be an easy task for you. Having 20 marks in all your internals would be even more beneficial.

To get a CGPA of 10 is possible, in your first year. Here are some things you should keep in mind for your preparation.

Utilize study holidays effectively – For the first semester examinations, the gap between them maybe a day or two. You have to complete the syllabus in the 10 to 15 days of study holidays. Make sure to revise every important portion the day before the exam.
Engineering Graphics – Practice more drawings and present the diagrams clearly and neatly. It is a 4 credit paper.
Engineering Mathematics – Do not just read the problems, work them out then and there. This will make you confident on the day of your exam.
Engineering Physics and Chemistry – The physics and chemistry papers are much easier compared to the class 12th syllabus. Study the textbook thoroughly. Understand the concepts. Present the answers with diagrams wherever necessary. Instead of writing long paragraphs, use points.
Technical English – Focus on the grammar first, Examiners tend to read that part fully while evaluating. So try getting full marks in that part which creates a good impression. That might help to get more marks in the forthcoming sections.

Presentation is one of the most important aspects. While writing use blue or black pens. Write answers in points and use Sub-headings. Try to keep your answer sheet neat and tidy and avoid unnecessary scribbling.

You need to multiply your CGPA with 10 to get the percentage. So, percentage = CGPA*10. This method is only applicable to colleges affiliated with Anna University. Which university is better for aerospace engineering - SRM, Anna, or Madras Institutes of Technology, or Hindustan University?

Madras Institute of Technology is under Anna University. These two aren’t separate. If you want good job profiles with cushy salary packages, after completing your degree, MIT isn’t a good option. Not many core companies visit the campus drive for recruitment. Although placements in the non-core sector are good. MIT offers good academics and you can benefit from the institute if you are aiming to pursue higher studies. The course fee is nominal. The course costs around INR 1.58 lakhs.

SRM is a good option if infrastructure is your priority. Although the university fees are a little higher.

Overall, Anna University is a good place to study. The university offers varied range of UG, PG and PhD courses. It has collaborated with 37 international universities and provide student exchange programs.

Anna University Placement shows the highest CTC to be INR 12 LPA. Students get recruited in Core, IT and ITES sectors.

BITS is definitely better than Anna University. It has a better brand value and offers excellent placements. BITS Pilani placements 2022 witnessed the highest CTC of INR 1.33 CPA. While the average CTC offered was INR 28.99 LPA. Microsoft, Amazon, Walmart, etc. are some of the major recruiters that took part in the placement drive.

Although BITS fees are way higher. Anna University courses cost about one-tenth of BITS.

Is Anna University's counselling different for CBSE and matriculating students?

No, the counselling procedure is the same for both CBSE and matriculating students. You will be counseled in the batches as per your cut off. But the cutoff calculation procedure is different for CBSE and matriculating students.

For State Board students Cut off= (math/2) + (phy/4)+(chem/4)

For CBSE students Cut off= (math) +(phy/2)+(chem/2)

Apart from this CBSE students get normalisation as it’s difficult to get such high cut offs. Under this, usually 5 marks are added to your cutoff.

How can non Tamil Nadu state students apply for Anna University and affiliated universities Whats the eligibility criteria?

Non-Tamil Nadu students are eligible to apply to Anna University and affiliated universities. The admission is merit-based. The prerequisites for admission are that you need to be a citizen of India. Applicants should also have passed 10+2 with a minimum average percentage. For general category students, the minimum required average is around 45%. While for SC/ST category students, the required percentage is 40%.

Is there any possibility to clear engineering arrears after the 8 years time in Anna University?

No, the maximum duration to complete your degree in Anna University is 7 years. This includes 4 years in college and 3 additional years for those who are unable to complete their degree within 4 years. But after 7 years you cannot complete your degree.

Before 2017, the students who would fail even after 7 years would get a grace period of 1 year. But this practice has been abolished according to the new regulations.

The decision has made it impossible for anyone who had enrolled before 2011 to clear engineering arrears again.
